Only one font type .. need to improve
the best news reader app thank you
I really like this app. Though the interface is not the most slick, it is fast and efficient and did its job very well. I see the app is now deprecated so I will try V2. I can't see a way of importing V1 feeds into V2, which is a shame and I hope the Developer will try to enable incremental updates rather than new installs for future improvements. V1 has been a great so though, thank you.
Nice, simple, has the features it should have. Tip: If you add a custom RSS feed and don't see any entries, try increasing how far back the reader shows news. It filters away entries older than 4 days (this can be changed.)
The interface is awful, and incredibly painful to use: there is no control of interface font/sizing, so everything is ridiculously large on a phablet. I also end up starring, or immediately marking as read, half the articles I pass while scrolling, because swipe down == swipe right/left as far as this app is concerned. The placement of the "mark all read" button means that it gets tapped accidentally all the time, and there's no way to fix this. All in all, the horrid interface means are never unread articles, and of course, the app opens directly into *always empty* unread articles pane.
Was using new+ before until the developer abandoned it. It was hard to find a reader with offline support since I don't have a data plan. I tried to write my own, but this is way better and I hope to contribute to this project in the future. It's simple and gets the job done. Being open source definitely helps and I hope a heathy community grows around this wonderful piece of software. What's great is that there's no server side component required like tt-rss, but this means syncing across devices is not possible, but I'm sure it can be developed with time if the use case is required. Great work and looking forward to version 2.
Everything was fine. Set age limit of posts to one week. I added two podcast feeds. Loved functionality I was seeing. Literally half an hour later Flym had chewed through 1.4 GB of -- roughly half -- my monthly mobile data. Configuring "Retrieve the full text" in settings, or when viewing a podcast article, seems to download, then discard, the mp3 binary, and will do so every time I open the article again. Deleted, sadly.
Very nice. It's clean and effective, it gets the job done, and the offline reading capability is the most important feature to me. The feature called "Retrieve the full text" is a bit confusing, though. What this means in practice is: "download the linked web page and try to guess which part of the page is actual article content". The latter part of this otherwise useful feature does not always get it right, unfortunately. Secondly, when opening the app, I'd like to return to the feed last viewed (or perhaps a selected "preferred" feed) instead of to the Unread view. (I didn't see an issue tracker on the Github page, so I thought I'd post them here.) Thanks for a very useful feed reader!
Awesome app, clean, fast, responsive and fluid. Having a blast coming back to the old way of reading news in a refined format. Apps like AppyGeek and NewsRepublic are spamming users with trackers and ads, but this app is completely functional and ad-less for free. Would gladly make a donation to keep it that way, thanks again.
Exactly what I was looking for! It gives me full text of rss feeds. I'd have ditched Google newsstand if only this also could've magazines I've subscribed to. One can wish, right :)
Nice RSS reader. I would give it 5 stars if the widgets would update. With no update, there is little point in having widgets at all.
Love this app. One thing makes me sad. I can not quit the program. To completely shut it down I go into the phone settings and close it there. Can you add a Quit menu option? I do not need Flym running all the time, just use it when needed. Thanks in advance.
Loved it until recently. Now only about half the feeds I had subscribed to will update. They were all working previously. Checked the feed URLs and they are correct.
clunky interface. url it entered after search was wrong. unable to auto pull eds feed from a manual url
Only this app gave me the option to remove images from news feed. Thank you very much. I was looking for that feature. Only this app has that feature in android platform. Other apps does not have this feature. I recommend this app for everyone who like to read news in one place with less data.
I have tried many others and this is the most user friendly by far. I can choose the news publications I want. I am not getting bombarded by ads. The controls are easy. I simply like it a lot.
This has to be the best RSS Reader I've tried so far! Thanks for an amazing app. However, it would be great if there was some way to back up my starred feeds either online or offline?
It's one of the best no frills RSS reader in Android. Hope it will be available in iOS as well
Its a simple lightweight news app which keeps you posted on whatever link you seek news from....its very amazing
nice app, 2 observations. no video playback? and also if you could add a 'popular' or 'cover stories' section like flipboard it would be a top app.
Amazing open source app for RSS users. The feature to download full text from truncated feeds is appreciated.
Love the app. Would it be possible to have the back arrow take you back to you list of feeds, instead of closing the app.
It's a really fluid and minimal FeedReader. Please add some settings to customise reader mode
Geat app but does not let you sync with anything. I have multiple devices.
Hi, it's a great work. I hope the new UI will come out soon!
RSS feed reading function is fine, I also like its search feature to get feeds quickly. But, frankly, I chose it for its the *offline* mode. Even though everything was set to "wifi only", etc., this morning it ate 22MB of my mobile data. WHY???? Not happy as long as my tariff is capped at 150MB :-(
Wonderful program, use it daily. This 'old version' is great. The "new" version is extremely buggy not ready for use.
Not yet ready for primetime. Hoping the next veraion offers vetter search, better stuff. Goodluck!
(1) doesn't show Pictures of Twitter shared stautus (2)doesn't allow full screen on Videos on Android9 "6.39 inches screen" (but on my other phone Android4 "4.3 inches screen" i can turn videos to full mode?) (3) would be great if it has a video quality adjustment on shared YouTube videos.
