Previous review was 4 stars: fantastic product but glitchy. I have to bring it down to 3. There are too many bugs. Again- fantastic product and it REALLY works. But now there's no sound at all, neither Bluetooth headphones or phone speaker (other apps work). Yes, I was contacted about my previous review but I just don't have the time to go back and forth. For $14 a month I should be able to just hit play.it can be a big setback for ND folks. When the bugs are worked out, I will be back for sure.
This has been a godsend for my adhd brain. So many channels and each has mood intensities to choose from. I know Spotify has focus Playlists but this takes it to another level. No voice, no voice-like sounds. Adhd brains WILL find a perfect channel. I have one complaint: the app never fully closes even with force close. The only way to have it stop draining the battery (and its a huge drain) is to restart my phone.
This thing is magic -- i read the science and yet still it feels like magic. Enough choice & control while still being distraction free. It would be super cool if it integrated with Forest, the other thing that works for me. Thanks guys
Wanted to try this but the evaluation survey intro doesn't render properly. Multi-tile/two row selection options only shows 2 tiles in full in the center, the rest are cut off and it doesn't scroll left or right, for the several pages selections are required. The final demographic questions arranged vertically are fine. Would like to fine-tune selections inside app but then get prompted to create an account first. Not giving up my information for something I'm not sure will wotk properly.
I have a lifetime subscription, and I currently do NOT recommend anybody bother with this app. I have a constant distracting crackling noise interrupting my audio from the app, I've tried different headphones, I've tried offline mode, and I've verified against other music apps. The headphones are fine, other apps are fine. Focus@Will is broken. What good is a focus support aid that is super distracting? Maybe look elsewhere. Samsung note8. And I'm not the only one having this issue.
Whether it delivers on the promise to focus at will and control my ADD... It's hard to tell when the app keeps crashing, for one. At 10$ a month, I might have expected better. But I'd also argue that in order to decide if this truly helps, 7 days trial is a bit short, as I'm not yet sure it works better than Lofi Girl or Halidon Music on YouTube; every ADHDer would agree, I believe, that we'd be willing to invest whatever resources available to us to make life easier, but it's a tiring journey
The service has a good selection of focus music, and it seems to do the job -- I can focus for longer with it. The app can be used without an account, which is nice. But the app is just a thin wrapper around the website -- the UI feels clunky, and it notably lacks offline support. I was amused when the app told me I should reload the page to get the latest version. A native app with offline support would be more competitive.
Just what I have been looking for! This app works great with no buffering issues. Many channels to choose from to play in the background to help you focus, and you can also choose the 'energy' level of the music. I used to use BrainFM, which was nice when it works, but it hasn't worked in over a YEAR, so have been looking for a replacement, and this is even better. Also reached out to Focus@Will for help, and they replies very quickly and offered amazing support! 5-star app for sure!
The music is great and helps me tremendously. I have been subscribed for two years, and I love it. However, the apps is super slow and buggy. Please don't respond with a reach out to support comment. Acknowledge that the app is super sluggish right now and fix it. It's only playing music after all. I will change this rating if performance improves. Update: I appreciate the response and thanks for looking into supporting my old phone.
The music works and when the app works, it helps me do the job beautifully. Unfortunately, it's extremely buggy. The app crashes / keeps stopping. When you do multiple sessions, the end session buttons, freeze / don't respond and invariably requires a stop and restart. Because they were the first solution I discovered and because occasionally it works wonderfully, I have continued to support and pay a subscription but now even after their new updates, if the app itself is not working and everyone from Youtube to Spotify to companies give you access to music that at least partly does the job, I'm not sure it's worth it anymore. Which is a shame!
This app is almost great, for what it is and what it offers. But for claiming to be an ADD app, it is TERRIBLY implemented. I get that building quality apps is hard, but this one needs *so much* work. First, an app for helping ADD people shouldn't glitch/freeze and stop playing music every few seconds. This one does. It's the definition of distracting, and is completely opposite of the intentions of this app. The pauses seem to be related to the screen locking, or notifications coming in. UPDATE: The app is most buggy when it is plugged into the power adapter. It pauses the music almost constantly when plugged in.
creates an excellent vibe for concentrating on work. I especially like being able to change the session time at will to match the task I am working on. No more cramming a 60 minute task into 25 minutes! I have a huge issue of not being productive because of distractions, this has all but eliminated the distractions....when I remember to use it! Great app!
App works great, as does the player online! You can now pause it which was something I had been waiting years for, so glad to finally have that ability! The interface is beautiful, and it's easy to switch between different types of playlists based on what you need. Great that it's backed up by science. It helps me study and work without getting distracted.
I really wish I could give this app 4 or five stars but I've installed it and reinstalled it and all I hear is static every 5 seconds. I like the music but it's just a shame that no one got back to me after emailing help twice. I have a Note 8 and don't seem to have any problems with other meditation apps. This literally makes a crackling static that's not ignorable
Very helpful brain music. Lots of different options for different moods. I even played the softer varieties for my daughter while she was in the womb. I still continue to play it for her while she's in her crib. The app itself could use some polishing up but that's a small quibble for all the upside the service provides. Install, tune in, and get back to work.
I can't comment on how 'scientific' (or not) the music/sounds are in terms of focus, etc., but I can tell you that I find this MUCH better than a generic 'focus' playlist. I use it at home while studying, and have it running at work when I need to concentrate. For me, it's worth paying for because it works for me. "Uptempo" @ medium energy is my go-to channel.
This app is a godsend for someone with ADHD, but since the update it has been so buggy, slow, and unresponsive. Often it will glitch out in many ways, resulting in you restarting the app multiple times till it fixes itself. Why did they have to make their own player from the ground up!? - EDIT - I have contacted their support email multiple times with no response...
When I begin a timed session and then select Refine Recommendations from the Settings menu, the music stops (which I understand). If I change my mind and cancel refining my recommendation, can I go back to the place where I stopped in the music or does it start from the beginning? It seems it started from the beginning, but not sure.
Nice idea, music is repetitive. Annual subscription is disappointing. After my trial period ended, I found the music on my preferred channel very repetitive. Didn't want to use the app as it became predictable and boring. Too bad the subscription is annual instead of monthly as I am now paying for something I no longer use.
I see I'm not the only one in liking the idea but hating the app. Yes, I've reported bugs to support twice. They were well documented. One of their recent updates introduced a new bug (why does the app freeze for ten seconds when I open it?), but I've been dragging my feet about reporting it because it seems pointless. I was looking through the reviews because now I'm getting a "focus@will keeps stopping" error. Really looking into alternatives
I absolutely love the service but the app has never worked for me no matter what phone it will always force close mainly when you are outside of the app and you try to play it will force close every time and it doesn't like audio focus from Android it freezes up every time. Again I love the service but the app is pretty bad:-( Just trying the new version it's a little better but still completely stops when you try to pause the music causing your timer and songs to reset.
This is a need! To Focus in our distracted lives. My favorites are classical piano and water sounds. I use the app while learning a new career that involves complex, deep level concepts. I read a bunch and use the app so I retain more info. Well researched app with a lifelong impact. I plan on buying a lifetime membership soon - worth the price!
This is a great app. I really love to use it... so why the one star? well, because I should say "I would love to be ABLE to use it," But unfortunately, my subscription has expired and none of the interfaces will allow me to renew without the whole thing freezing up. This aspect of the user experience is really annoying. I'd love to renew my subscription and use the app again, but I can't figure out how to get them to take my money.
