FODMAP by FM

The low FODMAP diet app has been developed in partnership with medical experts and dietitians from Kings College and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. The app enables you to search for suitable packaged UK foods when following the low FODMAP diet.
Dietary triggers are difficult to identify but research has shown that some carbohydrates (FODMAPs) may contribute to irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Restricting FODMAP intake has been shown to improve these symptoms caused by ibs food intolerances but this may not apply to everyone. The low FODMAP diet has been shown to be effective in managing IBS symptoms in up to 70% of people.

Using the app you will be able to manage all three stages of the low fodmap ibs diet to create a FODMAP plan, search and scan barcodes to find FODMAP friendly foods. Improve your chances of successfully following the low FODMAP diet and then re-introducing foods to understand the ingredients that are triggering your symptoms.

Key features:• Scan barcodes to check FODMAP friendly foods• Search quickly and easily for everyday FODAMP diet foods• Share your re-introduction charts with your clinician/dietitian• Quick FODMAP food check and guidance on portion sizes• Regularly updated tips & tricks from the dietitian• Create your own personalised FODMAP profile • At each stage track and record your symptoms• Full product ingredient and nutrition facts from food label• Create your own personalised shopping lists

The app should be used in consultation with a healthcare professional.

Super handy for supermarket shopping as the scan feature quickly tells you is something is suitable. Good tool when used in conjunction with other low fodmap guidance on portion sizes etc. Doesn't have all supermarkets on eg Tesco and Aldi. Recent updated seems to work better than previously.

It is being very helpful when I am shopping, or when I am not sure how much my digestive system will be able to digest without causing me pain. Thank you.

conflicting info when compared to the monash app which is far more up to date than this app. the scanner is usefull. i would use it in conjuction with monash.

My wife down loaded this app 5 year ago and used it for about 3 months and forgot about it and deleted the app they are still taking the money out each year. We ca not find how to cancel it.

Really useful. A bit unstable and unintuitive.

Great for getting to grips with fodmaps.

Scanner very difficult to use on my phone. It tends to freeze on the previous scanned image. Also it does not respond to the scan button until about the fifth attempt. Maybe this is an Android compatibility issue? The app recognises no Aldi products at all and quite a few Tesco ones are missing where guidance would be useful. eg some Tesco Free From gravy granules appear suitable but aren't listed. In general the app seems to be for rich people who buy expensive brands!

App is good, when the scan works. But I don't always do the shopping, so I need to be able to share shopping lists and favourites with my wife and family. That way it's easier for them to refer to the list, rather than having to scan/read/guess what I can eat. I've found that they simply say they don't have time to fiddle around when they shop, so I've got to re-load the items into a shopping list app where we CAN all share the lists. Total PitA and it devalues the utility of this app!

Thank you. GP asked me to try FODMAP. This has been excellent. 60% of products found. However still a great help to someone who doesn't know what they are doing.

I have already completed a low FODMAP diet but was pleased to discover this app as it is UK based. I have found Monash app really useful but the some food isn't on there from UK. So was very disappointed that I couldn't use this app to assist with this - I seem unable to skip to stage 3 and filter out fructose and sorbitol. I want to know for instance, has baby corn got either of these ingredients in!

It won't let me save my symptoms on the sliders. Because of this i cant search products as the symptom checker keeps popping up. Also the scanner keeps freezing on items previously scanned.

The app is good although a little buggy. When searching, the app displays the results for the previous search unless you restart the app. The database needs to be more comprehensive

The app is a great help when shopping, but I'm stuck at phase 1. I keep getting notifications to update the symptoms tracker and it is nowhere to be found...

Love the barcode scanner helping me to start my diet. Would like to see recipe advice using items on your favourite list

Needs a lot of improvement. Always logs you out after updating, says my email is not registered when I try to reset password, but when I try to register it tells me that my email is already registered, so I'm basically locked out. Very bad for a product I paid for.

Barcode scanner doesn't work on my phone and i would like to see the bad indredients hi-lighted. Overall a very usefull app.

Emm. H. Mar 14, 2017

I am very happy with this app. Only been using it for a few days and it is really helping me to become familiar with the many ingredients that just aren't agreeable with me. It makes me stop and think more about items I assumed were okay!

Frankly life changing. Yes, there are a few niggles with the app - sometimes it gets stuck in the scanning screen and I hate that it logs you out all the time, but this is a tough diet to follow and this really does hold your hand through elimination. Now in reintroduction phase the app continues to support and help - would be useful if I could delete a challenge, sometimes I just want to look at what a challenge consists of without starting it but the app presumes I am starting!

Chr. W. Feb 28, 2017

It could be 4 or 5 star if it didn't keep making me sign in all the time... Also sometimes slow and unresponsive. Please tweak and I will give a better rating.

None of foods I scanned were recognized on app food in food list isn't available in stores near me

Tyl. S. Jun 9, 2017

Incredibly helpful app. Changed the way I managed my diet. FODMAPS are hard to deal with and this is a game changer

A. G. u. Apr 5, 2017

Good overall but a little buggy. The 'low FODMAP lists' could be more comprehensive ie. more products in more categories (esp. stocks & sauces) but definitely worth paying for.

The apps scan feature is so useful in the beggining where i am now to try and identify fodmap friendly foods. Loving the app

Vip. K. Feb 22, 2017

Great app. Helped to identity suitable foods. Also tells the ingredients which would cause problems in foods which are flagged red.

Joh. A. Feb 20, 2017

It's a useful app when it works but is a bit slow sometimes and being asked to login/register everytime I open it is VERY annoying. I've also noticed some contradictory information on it... but on the whole it's good.

A. G. u. Jun 8, 2017

Basic, half the foods I am scanning are not being picked up even though they are on the list when searched manually. Takes a while to scan the item as well. Good in theory but needs a wider product base
