Simple interface, runs on any phone I've thrown it at, lets you select your library folder, and no ads in your face when all you want to do is play audio files. What's not to love?
Literally cannot make a playlist by tapping the folder, plus it take like 10 seconds to open. Garbage app because of update.
Not as robust as the desktop variant. Still low footprint and many features transferred. Please do tag and file management next :)
THE NEWEST UPDATE MADE MY PERFORMANCE SO INCREDIBLY FAST THAT I HAVE TO WRITE A REVIEW. NOW ONLY DOES THIS APP SUPPORT EVERY AUDIO FORMAT I THROW AT IT, IT ALSO SUPPORTS GAPLESS PLAYBACK SO I CAN LOOP MY FAVORITE SONGS. PLUS THE EQ, CROSSFADE, AND SILENCE SKIP ARE LITERALLY THE BIGGEST CHERRY ON TOP! I don't care how much you hate or love music you need to download this. (Unless it's an online service, like Spotify)
Don't remove features!!! Give us back the ability to browse folders. I'll come back and make this 5 stars if you fix this soon. If not, I'll have moved onto another app.
Not the most user friendly UI impo but definitely a quality audio player, very indepth too if that's your thing.
I cannot add folder to playlist anymore, seriously playlists were super awkwardly bad before now it's tragically stupid, gg have to look for other app :(
To add a folder to playlist just play a song from that folder and all of them will play as a playlist. Is a bit confusing but works.
Cannot read arbitrary folders in Android 11+ after upgraded to 1.3 (No problem with Android 11+ with 1.2.x nor Android 10- with 1.3). Please fix
I've been a Foobar user for a number of years now and find its ease of operation, its gapless playback, its ability to play a wide number of formats and its configurability to be major plusses in its favour, unmatched by any of the other free players available. Highly recommend you give it a try. With even a bog-standard out-of-the-box install, I don't see how anyone could be disappointed with it.
My music library has a lot of FLAC files but I've stored opus encoded OGG files on my phone (to save space), and they play great on this app. My only complaint is that there are no controls on the lock screen if Android is configured to hide sensitive content. But this issue is minor, and the UI is great. (EDIT: On a different device, the controls on the lock screen works. I guess that part is device specific.)
Can't see other folders besides "Music" on Android 12.
Update to 1.3 broke the app, can't play any files now
It's a pretty good app, setting out what its PC conterpart does really well in a compact package. I do have, admittedly, two gripes however. One, it doesn't have gapless playback, which is a promised feature with the PC version, but apparently not here. It would make an amazing quality of life feature, but anyways. Two, no random selection. You're only given shuffle and repeat. This bugs me as it's a small feature in the original program, and it just be a nice addition. That's all.
Used it about a year ago and had serious stability problems. I have been trying it again for some time now and haven't had any issues so far. This player has one job: making you enjoy your music, and it does it well. Navigating is quite logical, the buttons are large, making playlists is easy, reads tag info they it's supposed to... It may not make you enjoy looking at your phone but really, if you want to have easy access to your music and play it: this is it. I won't be looking any further.
Sort of disappointing. Love the EQ, and the dark theme. I was initially very impressed and excited. Then I tried playing some music. Song after song started giving me a notification saying 'Format Not Supported' or similar. That's strange, because the stock player and VLC have no issue playing them at all. A large portion of my music will not play on this app, and will play just fine on other apps. Then the app crashed, so that sealed the deal. Two stars, sadly- one for no ads, and one for a good concept.
Good app, though the ui is its biggest issue. It's rather clunky and unintuitive. Besides that, albums tend to be split by artist for no reason, there is no queue function, and the scroll bar extends far beyond the visual. Don't get me wrong, I love the desktop version and want this one to be good also, but I'm writing this review because it just hasn't improved in the years I've used it.
This is an excellent example of how to make a music player (and much more). However, rather than dwell on features, of which there's several, and also NO ADS, I want to focus on the sound of this app which is incredibly good. It betters the stock Samsung and other players like the TEAC by a margin, and plays more audio formats too. Excellent, look forward to watching development of this great app.
Not even close to the original desktop application. The interface is barely managable, lacks controls on the main screen, otherwise obvious, completely counter-intuitive. The app is also unable to stop properly, poorly behaves when minimized or playing in the background. Such a disappointment, this one is. A perfect example of what looks like an unfinished project or a failed attempt to clone a proper piece of software and make use of it's title.
Excellent music player. I even use the desktop version, however I have a few problems with the mobile version. 1: No easy way to sort files. Finding songs by (contributing) artist(s) is intimidating. I get less results than desired. Also, why is there no sort by bitrate? 2: Intermittent crashes while browsing for files. Sometimes, while I'm browsing for music (but not playing), the app sometimes crashes. Please fix this bug. It's annoying.
Latest update doesn't allow you to add whole albums to a playlist by long tapping on them. You have to add each song individually. This makes the app useless to me. Can you send me a way of installing the previous version of the app, or let me know once there's an update to fix? Before this I found it a good music player.
