Bug fix needed! App started wigging out. I use it for the recall notifications. After weeks of no recall notifications, in one day I got 70+ recalls all at once. Cleared them, and the next day the same 70+ came back. Also, it's set to English, but I'm getting Spanish recalls as well. Going to try uninstalling and reinstalling. Fingers crossed or it's useless as is. ☹
Notifications about recalls don't show full product description details, making them fairly useless and almost all of what shows in notifications is not on the recalls page. The "filter by date" function only allows you to view an entire month at a time (e.g., February 2019) and for some reason, defaults to 2006. I could forgive that quirk if it actually worked, tho. For example, just now I had notifs for 4 recalls, none are on recalls page so I guess I just have to check the FDA site. Pointless.
For what it does, I'm sure it is useful to some. It doesn't have any tips for correct/optimal storage of foods (temperature, humidity, light). For example, which produce goes in which crisper drawer; what needs to be in an airtight container vs what needs air circulation; what goes in my root cellar vs my kitchen pantry.
5thru8/2021 I have not received any Notifications for several months now. Since 5/2019 - Bugs: When I click on a Notification, I am brought to the list of older notices. I am not able to see the intended notice and when I click on the back arrow I am taken out of the app. So I never get to see the notice. Frustrating..
This app is a data hog. I opened it up twice for less than 15 minutes each time, and in a period of a week, unbeknownst to me, it used 1.15 gigs of data! I got a data warning from my phone. Needless to say, I was shocked and immediately uninstalled. No other app has come even close to this consumption. I've never received a warning before for any other app. Beware.
I like the app overall but it would be nice if when i tapped a notification for a recall that it took me to that recall post instead of showing me a list from over a week ago. 4-8-20 Update: All of the notifications stopped working on my Samsung A10. Suggestions? Or please fix.
I like how it gives the recall alerts. More people need to know this app exists. So many people search Google for if something is spoiled or if something should be refrigerated, etc, but this app is so much better than Google. Only thing is that the recall alerts don't expand to show full text.
Previously 5 stars but since Android Pie update I do not get notifications. Notifications turned on in app. Notifications allowed in Android settings. I now have to check the app. to see recalls. Please fix.
It is the middle of August, and the app is completely updated, and I am only now receiving alerts for things recalled in March! Not very helpful or timely.
This app is great for keeping you from getting sick on all kinds of food. Storage times for foods are much shorter than I ever thought and this app settles any disagreements with members of my family about whether a food is past it's time.
This app notifies of recalls, but when you click the recall notification the app opens and the recalls aren't there. Even if you search you can't find them.
Very useful, but you can only use the 'Add to calendar' button when you're going to frezee food, but not for refrigerate
Love it! When people try and doubt or challenge my knowledge in food safety... I have the USDA right at my fingertips to back me up every time.
Unbelievably limited given the amount of data you have access to. Mac n cheese isn't even listed, the most ubiquitous pantry staple...
cannot read recall notices from February 16 onward, even after reinstalling the app.
Not very helpful. Uninstalled after trying to find info on storing cooked brown rice.
Info is not updated in recalls section. App crashes a lot.
Data consuming hog. Installed the app and 7 days later the app had used 0.61 GB of data. Bloatware
Recall notifications do not work! How many users have to complain about this before it gets fixed?!?!
The app was constantly "not responding" even when I was not using it. Very poor app imo.
Best app! If you want to avoid spoiled food/condiment diarrhea. Ha ha..
Easy to use, clear text and graphics.
Amazing info at my fingertips. Very happy with it :)
I just started using this App. I found the expiration reminders helpful.
Was trying to find out about ground turkey recall. Kept showing me ground beef, and labeling practices.
Would give 4 or 5 stars, but the app instantly crashes when I try to open it nowadays. When it was working, it was great. As a single person living on my own, I always have issues with not being able to finish full packages at once, and knowing how long food should last before spoiling is super useful. However, it is useless if the app doesn't work 😅. Hope they fix it. It was a great tool.
