Freading

This is probably the most garbage app I've ever used. Unresponsive UI, page turns don't work half the time and when they do the screen flickers, text size adjustment does nothing aside from make the columns slimmer or wider - meaning I can't read on my phone without holding it 2 inches from my face. Come on, you can do better than this.

Decided to give this a second shot thinking that after so long it was fixed. All I get is an activation pop-up that just shows authorizing device just loading and loading. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and it's all that I get. It works on the website but doesn't actually download anything and if you try to redownload it it says data doesn't match. This app is such garbage how is it still available to anyone?

Only works if the ebook's embedded styles are VERY simple (increasingly unlikely, these days). Otherwise, css presets override the app (should always be the opposite) and usually make the book unreadable. Among the glitches I've seen: main text barely visible with "adjustable" 36-point headers, text the same color as the background, 2-inch margins on the narrow-margin setting, flashing text—all unchanged by the app "controls", The relevant web interface may indicate a book has been downloaded without the ebook file ever appearing and then obstruct an actual download.

I figured there wasn't any way this app could be as bad as the ratings suggest and yet here I am giving it one star. To start with, it forces you to create an Adobe account. I don't like creating accounts I don't really need but I went ahead and did it. After that, there is no onboarding at all. No instructions, no indication of what to do, just a blank red screen. I found where to browse for books, but the navigation seemed broken. I could go in, selecting a book to examine, but hitting the back button returned me to the Adobe login. Going back to the book browser returned me to where I left. I never found out how to return to the listing and just wrote this review and uninstalled the app. It's terrible.

My library stated that a ebook was available via this. This wanted me to load Adobe digital reader, which was unclear as how to access. The Freading app wanted a password which it could not verify nor would it send message to my email. I suspect that it only support google addressed email. My library couldnt figure it out either so after 2 hours I gave up.

I have no idea how to answer the "tell us more" questions because on sign-in, it just sticks in an endless loop of "authorizing device." I got as far as entering my library sign-in information, but then it just continuously cycles the "authorizing device" pop-up.

I don't know why you needed my library location for me to login to the app. The sign in doesn't work unless I input my library? And you don't even offer my country! This is the worst experience I've ever had just trying to read a damn book! I also don't like the fact that I couldn't read a book without this app. Your website wouldn't download anything! Ridiculous! Thanks so much for the waste of time and space on my phone. Not consumer friendly in slightest bit.

I feel like I just fought my way through the under world to reach Eden's garden, only to find out it is a Home Depot parking lot. Hard to get through everything. Hard to navigate. Hard to load. For something just barely working. That being said I feel SOOO proud to have made it work. Added a star just for that.

A pop-up kept saying, "ACTIVATE... Authorizing device," and would take forever to load. I had to restart my phone to get the pop-up to go away, but then the app crashed, and the pop-up came back.

Horrible app. I have no idea who designed this app but it is the most awful one I've ever seen. It doesn't work. Not at all. I reached out to my library staff for help and nothing I did made this app work. I hate that it made me create some weird Adobe ID. I don't even understand why I needed it because it still didn't work after I did that step! It was just a blank red and white screen! No instructions, no help button, no customer service email, NOTHING! My books I downloaded were nowhere!

I think the app is better than some reviewers have rated it. Yes, it is simple and has few features but it does the job, gets books from freading and let's you read them, text can resized for those of us who need it and brightness can be adjusted.

I thought the poor reviews were exaggerating, but this app was such trash that I ended up just paying $10 for the book I had for free on freading. The pages take forever to turn, the layout is ugly, and it won't keep your place even if you bookmarked the page.

Bookmarks don't work and what is the point of an eReader without bookmarks that stay on the page. I reread a paragraph thinking it was in the right place only to find out there were many PAGES and chapters I had already read. I dislike this app and only used it because of a book club I joined.

Absolutely terrible. Managed to download and read one book. Could not get any other books to show up despite following the exact same process. Zero help or instruction from the app so I can't even tell if it's me that has done something wrong.

Seems like a real nice app, if only I could make the text larger. The text size setting only effects a random in line quote or phrase; the other 99.9% of the text stays the same small size.

Comically bad app. It claims to be for reading e-books, but, you can't make the font bigger than microscopic. Well, there is a setting for adjusting the font size, it just doesn't work.

This app is terrible. I recently downloaded & read a book on Freading with no problem. Two days ago I downloaded 2 books & they do not show up to read & I can't redownload them. I uninstalled the app & reinstalled with no changes.

The ones who complain about type size did not figure out how to adjust for reading ease. Granted the software is not easy to set up, but again if you want more choices, it is worth the aggravation.

Dreadful layout and hard to navigate. Also so buggy! I have had to uninstall and reinstall multiple times to get downloads to load properly

I can't read anything. I signed up and activated. There are two books that show as downloaded. No matter what I do, the only message I get is "please choose a book from the library". Useless. I uninstalled.

Beyond frustrating!! Books appear in "my downloads" but not in "library". Huge amount of time wasted, unble to actually read anything.

Just crashes.... :-( I can only get as far a picking a book then it crashes. I have tried reinstalling, and talking to a librarian about it.

Front doesn't change. Viewing is very hard on a phone! Deleting. Maybe I'm just too spoiled with the kindle reader app... but I've got pdf readers with more flexibility. Deleting.

The settings to make the text bigger don't work. I'm tired of trying to read a book in tiny letters!

I have read all of the reviews concerning this app and I had the same issues until I re-read the instructions. You have to also install Adobe Digital Edition (ADE) and then re-download your product and it will work. I hope that this will help someone. Be blessed.

Terrible. Just terrible. They made me make an Adobe ID which I didn't really want to do in the first place. And after I did, it takes FOREVER for them to authenticate my account. It doesn't even work. Don't download it, this is a waste of time

App stops responding when I try to open a book. This app is useless. Don't waste your time finding a book. If you miraculously manage to do that, you won't be able to read it.

Downloaded this to access resources from my local library and it wont stop trying to "authorise" my device. The app is completely unusable with this glitch. Please fix asap!

Piece of junk! Signed up for Adobe ID. Now they have my info, app can't authenticate? App doesn't work on S9 phone. Waste of time.

Text doesn't scale to screen size. This app is missing some basic functionalities.
