Barebones, but gets the job done. $3 for ad-free feels slightly overpriced but not outrageous. If I had one wishlist item, it would be for recurring items (great feature, by the way) to show up in the ledger, because as it stands if I schedule a one-time payment for the future, it looks like I'm going to be overdrawn because it doesn't account for my scheduled paycheck deposits.
I like the simplicity of the app. There are 2 things I don't like. 1st - The app will list all transactions in date order, then alphabetical order, regardless of how you enter them. I should be able to order them by entry order as that would match my statement to make balancing easier. 2nd - The app is locked in portrait view. I would like to see a landscape option with a wider description column as the 1 in portrait view is very small.
The best ledger app, in my experience. It handles every day transactions wonderfully. You can also set it to reflect auto bill pays, transfers from checking to credit cards, gift cards, etc. What the small icons represented wasn't obvious first, but play with the buttons and you'll get it. I check it against my checking account and it's never been off by more than a few pennies, and that may have been my fault. Very glad I got this.
Note: has not been updated for 3 years. Like having the ability to make money moving between accounts and being able to mark as credit or checking accounts, but I would like to have more ability to arrange accounts. They are arranged by order you add them, and you can switch position with other accounts, but I would like to be able to drag the position or have a button to sort by name or type. The app is also made for older OS than what the note 10+ has, so maybe there's features I can't use.
Very imressed with this app! It allows me to enter all direct debits and all card/account balances and calculates an overall global balance for all my accounts. It would be even better with a budgeting facility. Also, although it apparently allows export to an Excel file on my SD card, I cannot find this file anywhere on my card after multiple searches.
I like most things about this app. Some suggestions: 1) The number input needs to be like a number pad on a keyboard or have an option to switch between them. I am constantly typing the wrong number as I am so used to a keyboards number pad. 2) This is important when first setting up your accounts, when you are on a particular month the date should be for that month that way all you have to do it select a date and not also find the month. 3) A title/watermark in each input box at the bottom.
I really enjoy this app, it is simple and not crowded with ads and unnecessary stuff. I have to take off 2 stars though, because the backup feature is broken, and so if anything happens to your phone or you change phones, it's all gone. Really upsetting for someone who has YEARS of transactions.
I'm impressed. This is a simple app very basic but very functional and surprisingly the ads are extremely few and not annoying. There is so much I use this app for aside from checkbook registry. I also use it to calculate expenses for projects. Adds and subtracts like Excel. I recommended if you need something simple and useful.
Glitches!!! I thought it was just me, but after reading the reviews of others, I see it is not. This app has definitely thrown my balances off to the point that I thought the bank was doing something shady. I think I got too comfortable relying on an app instead of good old fashioned math. It started changing my starting balance, and I also believe it has something to do with transferring to other accounts. Now me and my accountant have to figure out exactly what happened. I do not recommend.
THIS APP CANNOT BE BACKED OR TRANSFERRED! I only realized this after getting a new phone and reading reviews from the last few months. I'll now have to manually transfer months of transactions from accounts. Don't be fooled, no matter what the app says, it's not going to save to SIM or backup in Drop Box, it's one and done.
Simple easy to use. Simple exporting to Excel for your PC. Only shows you a quick ad maybe once a week no banners. Tried allot apps they all had too many pay walls or ad banners and always trying to give too much info. This app is perfect a simple ledger can have multiple accounts make notes on transactions takes very little storage love it.
Good to use to enter in manually every month, privacy protected, & just like using a paper ledger only easier as a phone app, on & offline. However, I have a new, G6, Android phone, 4G signal. Best to upload screenshots of ur ledger to Google Docs. Adds pop up but, not very often now. This app doesn't respond when I choose "back up to SD card." I attempted using the "back up to drop box" option & shows up as "Free Checkbook Ledger" but, nothing to show in the file. Need alternate option
Love this app! I have been using it fir about a year now. The only change I'd like to see is the ability to add an end date on recurring deposits/payments. If it had that capability I'd give it 5 stars for sure!
It's exactly what I needed. SUGGESTIONS, when I add a transaction, I need the title of each box to appear directly above it. When I fill in a transaction, I forget which box is which, especially which is payment or deposit and it doesn't show which one is which until I click the enter button on the screen to post it. Also I prefer all months shown from top to bottom with a BOLD line in between each month, instead of forcing me to start a new page. That could be OPTIONAL in settings
The app is working so far for the basics we need. Wish the fields were adjustable in size etc., and don't like how the ledger is split up completely by month. Also don't like how headers disappear when you scroll down and enter transactions, but I imagine over time it will be second nature which is which.
It would be great if the math worked. It is always off by pennies at some point in the month and month end balance has yet to copy to next month starting balance accurately. Otherwise, for a free app, it does what I need.
Love the running balance and it makes it easier to do auto withdrawals to see dates and time it will come out as well as budget for the month. Also allows to run more than one account for free.
Not sure about this app. First, I entered a password but when you open the app it says if you forgot your password to tap 7 times on the button in the lower left hand corner. What's the point of the password then? 😂 Second, when you open the ledger a pop-up says that if you long press you can void, note, edit or delete. If you edit the date to a future date it doesn't remove the amount from the total. Does that mean it will remove that amount again on the edited date?
"Scheduled Transactions" or anything recurring won't show on calendar or ledger. Calendar only shows balance for days there's a bill, income does not show up at all and all other calendar days are blank unlike in pic. Very close to useful, but simple necessities are missing making this unpractical. Great idea, but these little things are like a door without a handle.
I really like this app so far. It's simple, intuitive enough to not need additional instruction. I've noticed ads- please don't overdo the ads, and... we'll be happy.
I had been using a different app but I like this one much better. I like that I can mute an account so that I don't see it on the combined total but I still can see the balance for it. The entry method is easier too. It hadn't frozen on me and it dosent eat up my storage. Highly recommend it!
I have the paid version of this & am usually happy with the simplicity of the app. However, I've noticed that the balance carried over each month is consistently off by one cent & this varies whether that is more or less than the actual balance. You can see the difference with the previous month's end balance differing from the next month's starting balance.
