App permissions and how the information is used
* Camera
- Your camera is used to take pictures which are printed on your postcard. They can also optionally be shared online if you or the recipient chooses to do so.
* Microphone
- Only used if you decide to attach an optional audio message.
* GPS/Location
- This is only used if you attach your location to a postcard. We do not transmit this information unless you opt in on a per card basis. For performance reasons the app may begin searching for your location even if you do not check this option on a card, however the location data is never sent to us until you opt in.
* Contacts/Address Book
- In order to allow you to quickly add an address to a postcard the app has to be able to read the contacts on your phone. We never transmit more than the address you have on your card back to our servers.
* Modify or delete contents on your phone storage
- This is used to save pictures taken within the app to storage as well as temporary storage for the card you are working on. We do not read, write or scan files on your phone more than what is required for our app to function.
* Find accounts on device
- To allow you to log into our app or post comments to social media via FaceBook, Twitter or Google+ we need to access those accounts on your device. No information from those accounts is sent back to our servers, other than the minimum required to set up your account. We do not scan your friends list or collect any other information.
* Network Access
- Sending cards to our servers requires an active internet connection
* Test access to protected storage
- This is an Android standard feature. When saving a file such as a picture taken from within the app, we check to see if the user has a protected storage area we can access, and if we can it is saved there. Otherwise it is saved as normal.
* Push notifications
- We use push notifications to notify you when an address has been entered, when using our address lookup feature. We may occasionally (rarely) send you app offers or reminders.

For some reason with my address I can send it from anywhere else but at home it says no ads available in my zip code but if I use the same address and drive to town I can send. Very odd. Other than that thanks for this great app. It's such a great way to send pics to loved ones.
Loved this app. But it seems that now no one is running it. No cards are being sent out no responses to any of the complaints or concerns. If anyone knows who was running this site or how to get in touch with anyone dealing with this site please let me know. This is a great idea and I hate to see it stop. I would like to run a service like this because there is such a need. Sad that it has stopped😢
I loved this app and love the idea as I can't always afford to send pictures but every time I download the app I can send at most 2 post cards before I have to delete n redownload but this time it won't even let me past loading my picture I would love to b able to use this app again.
Tried endless times to contact freebird but no one answers the telephone. Multiple attempts to file my complaint online but I get a notice that website is encountering a problem. I know that this facility allows freebird as other inmates are receiving their postcards. This is very upsetting and very upsetting to the inmate to see others receiving their cards without an issue. Freebird does not seem to care otherwise they would have returned my emails. It is now 3.18.15 and still no response from Daniel.
I have been trying to send the same postcards since the beginning of OCTOBER!!!!! I have even tried to send them to myself. I can't get any support from customer service and I have written twice so if you are not going to send them out remove the app bc most ppl that have loved ones locked up this was something we were being to rely on to make life a little happier for them.
Love it I can keep my daughters father with all up to date pics of her while he's away perfect app sometimes it acts up and says no ad for this zip code then I have to wait a few days until it wants to act right other then that great app fix and I'll give 5 stars
I'm so excited to try this free birds and sent a card to my loved one I'm hoping that it gets there and I hear word from him saying that he received it I will be so happy and full of joy I am so thankful for the company that is helping us do this I am so thoughtful and thankful for them doing that thank you so much for your appreciation and donations to help us do this you are loved ones thank you so much
I have sent out several post cards starting on the 5th of January and no one has received them yet. If they actually get mailed I will love this app. I have put a lot of time into a lot of cards. And deleted a lot of photos that I thought were being sent.
It let's me go through whole ordeal of setting up card then when I click pick sponsor just keeps saying network issues! Tried it with WiFi and data, nothing. Won't let me sign in to try paid either. And no help feature. So seems like I DLed for no reason...help would still be appreciated as I really want to use!!
Thank you so much Freebird your app is so much easier to use than sending letters! And its free! I don't mind the advertising at all...I'm so content that I can rely on this app! I'm definitely spreading the word for my fellow friends to use especially since they also have loved ones incarcerated. Best app EVER!!! THANK YOU AGAIN :)

This is a good app only complaint is one of the pictures/postcards never made it to its destination, sent the same picture to myself that same day and he nor I have yet to receive it...been a month still nothing,but all others have made it..just got done resending the picture once again to him and myself..let's see who gets it first!! Let's hope we get it this time...I give 5stars upon receiving that picture....very important picture..newborn baby
I tried sending my post card with the free option and it wont let me saying there are no ads fot my zipcode I think its just a rip off to be honest... Im uninstalling and wont recommend this app to anybody its a waste of time and energy...
This app keep stopping, it won't let me create an account nor would it let me log in with Facebook or google, what do I need to do
There were no sponsors for my zip code so I had to pay for cards which I thought would he free. And to top it off, it says mailed 5/19/15 and as of 6/11/15 still no cards have been rec'vd? There's no # I can talk to someone. Sending a message through 'contact us' and it won't even go through. Keeps saying Web error. Ugh! Can someone pls find my cards? Refund my $$? Contact me!?
The app is great but now prison and jail facilities are no longer accepting them as post cards anymore they are saying the are not post cards because they flip open like a book.so my loved ones can no longer receive them ....of course this only applies to jail and prison facilities that converted to the new post cars only incoming mail policy. ...

This app is a great idea. But disappointing that I am unable to send a card to my hubby in Kansas from Australia! :-( We communicate often but over the holiday season our mail takes longer to reach each other. This would be a quicker way to reach him and would be fantastic to surprise him! Could you please fix it to allow people outside the US to send postcards?? The only reason as to why I havent given it 5 stars. :-(
I would love it if it would actually work, whenever I try to add a picture from my gallery it says it's not responding and quits out
I will give five stars when I find out if they got the cards this is a really good way to say hi to your loved ones locked up. And the fact that you can put your own pics on the cards let's you give a little joy and hope to your loved ones. And sending them for free makes it all the more better.
