Great app, extremely helpful. My only gripe is the app seems to hold a bunch of uploads for a duration and then throw them out there all at once, so my notifications will go absolutely crazy! And they're not coming from the same person posting, there's normally a few different individuals from different areas. I hope they sort that, as it's very irritating, otherwise an awesome app!
I thought it was a Freecycle app and that I could just login. It appears to be an app covering several services and I have to register yet again. This needs to be made clear in the description; I can see that there are advantages in having one app to cover everything but it's very frustrating when I'm trying to login and being told my email isn't registered
Just a place for people from the ghetto nowhere near me to spam notifications begging people to give them cars, computers, and furnish their homes for free. I've even seen them posting links to things they want from Amazon, asking people to go buy them for them. I'd rather throw my old stuff in the garbage. That's how annoying these people are. They have no shame.
I've been using trashnothing for four months & have given away lots of stuff since then; I'm constantly clearing out my home, so giving away my unwanted items via this app is great! Mostly a good & easy app to use; a few weirdos/creepy men that send messages about collecting an item late at night but other than that, it's really good! I would advise you NOT to give out your personal address, if they want to collect (I live near a school, so I meet there, to give my items away)
Since updating the app no longer loads on a Samsung S10+ keep getting spinning wheel and app fails to load. Tried reinstalling and get the same spinning wheel on a white background when launching app, also get the same if I try and access through the webpage, and I'm on WiFi with 120mb vigin media, no other connection or app issues on device.
The Trash Nothing app is easy to use but unfortunately even when I tick Freecycle options, it never links the posts to the Freecycle sites. I've now got to manually upload the same ads to Freecycle and reply by email as I can't use Freecycle through the app. Otherwise, it's a great idea, especially now in lockdown when the charity shops are closed and we've got more time to declutter!
I do like this application overall. It is a little confusing to navigate through it initially, but after a few times going through the different screen changes its not so bad. But As far as finding "trashy treasures"all around your area, its a great application .
Very hard to manage inbox. You can't organize by unread, the unread and read look exactly the same and when you reply to someone it automatically jumps to the top, so your emails are lost again between read and unread. It is a great app for posting as well as garnering alot of interest.
Everything is working perfectly in my Samsung S10. The app is very useful, I am offering from our charity and I am getting offers from others ๐ Thank you ๐งก
Great idea but app is buggy.and inconsistent Ever ttime try to load pictures it freezes then crashes, and then I lose the description I typed and have to start all over. After a dozen tries and fails I gave up and uninstalled app. Cost way too much time and frustration trying to give stuff away for free. :(
I like the website and concept but the app has problems with messaging. Edited post response: It isn't just me having problems. Most people I contact end up moving to email or text because of the issues the app has with messaging. I think it needs an overhaul.
Yes, instead of buying new stuff ,second hand lets you use whats already here. This app is cool cause it lets u request something u need/want & then lets others in the area see & help out. I would rather have a nicely taken care, well made coat, then a cheap, poorly made new one๐ธ๐ฑ๐ธ And i dont see the point in spending 100 on a coat when i can find one just as nice either at thirft stores or online second hand sites for 20 bucks or less!!!
I have found this free giveaway attracts people that appear interested and ask for and address and then you never hear back from them. Makes me concerned they are scouting for burglaries. The only reliable people I found are the ones requesting something I have. I have taken down my posts and uninstalled the app. It's not the apps fault, just the idea that people interested in free stuff are unreliable.
Just signed up using my Google account. Please add an option to change Google (gravatar) on freecycle accounts. For privacy reasons I would not like my G photo publicly displayed by default and no options to change it. Even just replacing it would a default icon would be great. Until then I might have to close my Freecycle account and maybe sign in with something else. FYI for some users its necessary to use a portrait photos with Google account. Google is used for many services ofcourse.
App keeps crashing. When I uninstall and reinstall again it seems to work but obviously this is not ideal. I have to do this 5 times since downloading app 2 weeks ago! Otherwise great way to share unwanted items without taking to the tip.
So far this app has worked well in listing my offerings and responding to others' listings. Notifications of responses has also worked well. I love finding items for free and finding a new home for items I no longer use. Much better way to recycle than filling up the landfills!
App needs a lot of work. Seems flaky, needs manual forced refreshes constantly. Seems like a website wrapped in an app. Would be better to just use the website. Unlike the website, can't withdrawal an offer or mark it gofted. And no way to edit posts so once you offer something you have no way to correct anything.
I love this application, all idea of sharing free stuff with other people is just simply fantastic. Just think about how many unwanted, never used items we all have which someone might actually looking for! Application itself is easy to use and clear to read even for older users.
I joined this app as I've just bought my first house and could've used a little help to get on my feet. Sadly this app has a rule that you can only ask for an item once you have offered one yourself - not everyone is in a position to be able to offer something, hence why they use the likes of these apps. My advice is to stick to Shpock and Gumtree!
I just downloaded this app and absolutely nothing works. I'm going to wait till tomorrow and try it again and then if it doesn't work I'm going to delete it. I love freecycle and was looking forward to using this.... Update: the service department responded quickly and was very helpful, unfortunately I don't have enough internet at my house to use this app, my coverage is very spotty. So I have to use the website not the app.
The easily fixable and really major flaw of the trash-nothing app is that once your item has sold, you can't update your ad. My item sold within the afternoon I posted it but I'm still having to reply to 6 or 7 people everyday saying 'sorry they're no longer available'. Very frustrating.
Pretty decent site. Needs more people using it and the response time from people seems to take forever. I mostly like it because it has the request from people and I enjoy helping others as I can, even if I'm only able to link them to another posting that maybe out of there area a bit. Will recommend and everyday user so far!! Thanks guy's!!
No longer getting notifications again! What a trashy app!!!
They app works fine for me. I mainly use the website because I'm mostly on my computer. Regardless of the app, the concept is worth it. I've been able to find some items for my family, like a TV, Bed frame, and a few others things. I'll be posting my first give away after my yard sale. What doesn't sale will be given away free.
Easy to use app that has really helped me with decluttering my home and office. About half of the items I've listed have been picked up by someone. In one case, a person new to town who simply needed furniture. What had been clutter to me was a new start for her.
This "app" is junk! It won't load and I keep having to refresh just to get the same trash from 69 days ago. It doesn't show anything current.
I am not happy with the Feedback system. Safety is important and I have someone contact me with a red 'minus 8' feedback score. What on earth does that mean? There are many rude people too and when I try to leave feedback it tells me to wait before giving negative feedback. Not good enough really
