This app does not work in Android 10! In an earleir version upgrade Google, in it's infinite stupidity, removed the system menu button from the standard user interface and thus broke all applications that were built to have a consistent and standard user experience, just like they should have been. Applications that rolled out all kinds of UI gimmickry and non-standard widgets stayed just fine. I lost four apps. Thanks Google. You were the real MVP.
Worthless on a Samsung S21: no way to access the menu to load anything. The author could have added a menu button on the keyboard for an easy fix, and this would have just made sense. So, 1 star due to a stupid decision.
LThe app doesn't explain anything. I had to accidentally find out about the back key to switch controls. Adding a menu button in the top corner and adding a welcome screen (explaining the controls) when the app is first booted up would help. Thee keyboard is terrible and makes it a chore just to change text color
Was awesome (4-5*) until phone upgrade where android got rid of menu button making app unuseable. 1 star for failing to keep up with h/w design changes that wreck software and cause time waste and frustration. +1 extra as it was fine for many years until a ph upgrade left it behind.
On one device it doesn't let me get to the menu for load disk, reset, ect. On the other device it keeps going to a wierd mode where most of the keys are random characters and the rest do nothing. Other then that the app works great
Very nice emulator in itself. Main downside I currently see is the lack of SD card access - I prefer to store media on my SD card; this includes files for C64. The other issue I have, as others have mentioned, is the horrific keyboard they've developed.
I have impression that there are problems with many games. Ex. Could you check Pole Position? It starts correctly but when there is start command for driver, it's not possible to start driving...
This isn't too bad, the graphics are accurate the emulation is awesome, but my only complaint with it really is the keyboard, It isn't quite the layout of a Commodore 64, Fix it and I'll give a 5 star rating!
As others have said, the menu is impossible to access (9.0 Pie). Useless to me. The keyboard is also very incomplete, lacking even the RESTORE key.
Third C64 emulator I've installed today and the third that is totally unusable. No menu available to access files, just a keyboard or joystick switcheroo when swiping back.
It was a good app until I got android 11,now you can't get the load screen or settings ,every time you press back button it just changes from keyboard to joystick, even press and hold back button trick doesn't work, the keyboard doesn't work properly either anymore - Hopefully the devs can fix this issue
My favorite C64 emulator. My one gripe--and I'd say this about every other Commodore emulator--is the on-screen keyboard. Especially in landscape mode or on a tablet, why can't the keyboard replicate the layout of a Commodore keyboard? It IS an emulator, after all.
This emulator used to be great, but due to changes in Android's UI, it's no longer possible to access the menu, rendering this app useless..
Used to be decent, but you can only mess with BASIC on newer Android versions now. The menu is just gone.
2 years later it got bad and I know it's android version fault but this app can adapt to the new android by at least bringing back the attach file method juat use a permission
Works good and on my Samsung Galaxy phone with Android 9 I have to press and hold back button to load disk images... but Android 10 or later it will not work 😕...
As others have pointed out, can't change the disk once the program is running. This make multi disk games unusable.
As a noob to the C64 (but not emulators), this was completely unintuitive to me. Needs basic emu menu to load roms easily. As-is, this is unusable for beginners.
There is no way to load games as the menu is not accessable. I have searched online for an answer on how to configure frodo but there is no settings option so no way to access roms.
Please please please update this app so that is has a menu button to actually play downloaded game. This does not work with my Samsung a40. An updated version will surely get 5 stars
Wanted to write, and save, my own BASIC programs, but am unable to do so without access to the full PETSCII font.
Cannot access the menu, have the Samsung S10 with Android-10, needs update to work with current Android system.
No way to load anything. It runs. Looks legit. It wasnt setup for my device to be clear, but no free passes.
Just a basic emulator but the joystick gets in the way. I will stick to my real one, but it's not as portable
Hit and miss. Some C64 programs do not run well on this emulator. SID emulation is also buggy. Disappointing
Awesome.fast saving needs to be implented. Perhaps F1 for Help. And never a rollback Option. C=64.
Menu doesn't show up on newer android versions, making this essentially broken. Too bad.
sadly shifting while connected to a physical keyboard breaks the whole shifting mechanism...
It DOES work. But yeah, pretty annoying having to guess how it works. The button that some others report to be working for them to bring out the menu is the app switcher button. That didn't work for me, since it - well - switches apps. Duh. The button that does work for me is the back button. A tap to switch between keyboard and joystick mode and a tap-and-hold to bring out the menu. From the menu you can change settings, load games, etc. It's quite buggy, though, and the virtual joystick quite
