Managed to copy every folder from my phone (including sdcard) to my pc. I cant copy entire directories and transfers are slow from the sdcard. Great app, allows you to create users with different security profiles. I use this on all devices in the house. Also, SSID detection does not work. It switches on regardless of the SSID you connect to, even though the SSID is specified in the app.
Excellent FTP server. Love the multiuser feature! This FTP server has only two issues. One big and one minor. The big one is that it does not support listing of only one file, so it is cumbersome and risky to use with PC backup software. The minor is that it only shows users connected, but not current/latest user activity (ex: file being currently transferred/or no files being currently transferred). Will give 5 stars when this is supported, and will also purchase the software at this point!!!
A great FTP server! The adds are not bothersome, still I did pay for the add free version, but will keep on using this free version for my old tablet, as Google Play seems to think my tablet is not compatible with the paid version for some reason (I guess it's due to the fact that my LG G pad 8.3 started out as Android 4.1 even though it has been updated to Android 5). Tried out the SFTP on the SSH app as well, which was also great, but I guess I'll mostly use this app as I'm getting 5 times the speed on plain FTP transfers when comparing to SFTP. Regardless, I love being able to transfer files to and from my PC and from Total Commander for Android using these server apps by Banana Studio. Nicely done, and I appreciate it being free. One small issue I have is when trying to overwrite files hosted on my Android Phone, no error message, but files doesn't get properly overwritten. It seems like it'll rather get merged with the existing file, at least when the file to overwrite with is smaller then the original file. (f.ex when resizing a jpg, or compressing it to be smaller by other means, overwriting the larger file with that will not make the file on the server smaller, but when copying it back to the PC to check it, the resolution is changed, but as the filesize is the same so there seems to be that a lot of remaining date from the overwritten file mixed in). A minor annoyance, but it's fairly easy to get around it by deleting files that needs overwriting before transfer. Would be cool if this got fixed though. I sent you a support message about it. This behavior is the same in the SSH app, and in the pro version of the FTP server. Edit: One more issue is with scandinavian characters, like ø, æ, å, ö, ä (and I suspect more international characters) those will get messed up during transfer.
The app does exactly what it says each and every time without fail. I love using this instead of having to connect a cable all the time. A bonus is there are no file transfer limits. A wonderful app! ### update ### I have been using this app with Android 12 beta for over a month now and FTP Server keeps right on working. In fact I was about to use it when the app popped up asking for a review. This is still the best ftp server app.
Very powerful and appears to be standards compliant
I really like this app but I keep getting a message when trying to create a user and use that newly created user, but when I try using the Anonymous Account it works great. "MESSAGE" Windows can not access this folder, make sure you have typed the file name correctly and that you have permission to access this folder. When I use the Anonymous Account it works without any issues If someone know how to fix this issue can you please share. Thanks
Easiest FTP server to configure. I use it to automatically pull pictures off of my phone with a script, so I don't have to use cloud services. Problem is just being on, and not even transferring files, kills my battery. Sadly, this makes the product not useful for people who would like to keep it running 24/7.
Battery draining issue. I like this app, but have one issue. I hv an old Redmi 4A phone with andorid 7, using it as FTP network drive through wifi, when I start this app it works smoothly at 8 to 10% processor power but after 6 to 7 hrs, it starts consuming 35 to 40 % processing which ultimately start draining battery. When I close or restart the app it comes back to normal. Pls look into that
A good FTP server that is easy to set up. However, when copying media to Android, the files do not appear in the gallery/music player until a reboot. That is quite frustrating when I want to quickly use a file that I transferred from my PC to my phone.
My my devices are constantly disconnected from the server whenever use it for over 1 minute at a time. This is extremely annoying and I don't have any battery optimization active on my phone that would kill the app process and this quick and constant disconnection issue is very annoying... Please see if you can do something about this.
It is fast. Works well even when the phone is in standby. Seems to be stable. Good work, developer! One problem: on one of my devices, Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8inch I get a hanging after connecting to the PC, when I try to copy files in both pasive and active ftp mode
I can't transfer files to my tablet no more since update but it can still read the files. My tablet has an old version of android but it never had that problem before and i've already checked appropriate options. I got a newer phone and installed same version with no problem. Hope you have a fix for this. Thanks.
I have this app for some time on a different device (older phone) installed on a newer phone, but it is still have the same issue. Keeps IDLE and cant connect to FTP Server had to restart app on the phone in order to transfare movies and songs. So Sad.
Having ads on your app is fine, what's not fine is if the ad is the priority of your app above the main functions of the app. This app stopped working when it loads a new ad. If you need to work on this, disable the ad and put it back once you've corrected it, otherwise, no one is going back to your app.
A simple ftp server with excellent configurability. No bloatware here. Just what I wanted. Files added are indexed by the media storage and that's good and important. The downsides are the privacy policy and not being open source.
I love this app, having perfect functioning features that all you need to use FTP service , easily access all your media in pc or any other device with multiple user multiple folder mount option which makes this app awasome sory for my bed englis....in short if you looking for a perfect FTP app... go for it.. dont waste your data and time on other app...
Fast wireless transfer of files from my Windows 10 PC to my phone, controlled on my PC. Exactly what I needed. Only drawback preventing 5* review is very significant drain on phone battery. (I only give 5* to a perfect app.)
The best ftp server app , it contains but not in all places so no probs . But this app has many features like creating users and having passwords , changing access path , multiple users , like that . Very useful for People having 2 or more Laptops .
Why does this app start on its own in the background? I greenified it, but after a while it will wake up on its own. Developer - could you please explain this? You have a dangerous permission in your app which allows you to read all files from a phone's storage. Thanks
This is such a great app. I love it and recommend it. I use it to create a server on my Oculus Go which then allows me to transfer files between it and my computer wirelessly. So convenient! Thank you!
Great app. Works well and gives you all the options and settings you would expect when on a PC. Supports encrypted FTP connections, which all the other FTP server apps I tried did not.
The only one that worked for me -- and I tried a lot! Can access SDcard, can manage transfer of entire directories; large files (16 GB in my case), needs some configuration at the beginning (which I like because it does not allow anonymous out of the box)
Such a useful and lightweight app. It's usage is extremely simple: just save a bookmark for your phone address folder in your pc' quick access list. Thanks so much for such an awesome app.
Everything works great. Previously I was not able to connect at work, maybe it was some secure wifi there. At home everything works great, changed rating from 1 to 5 ;) Cheers
First one I tried that was not troubled by Android's restricted access to an SD card. Thanks. (Works well with FileZilla (client) running on a PC, at the other end.)
Best FTP server app I used but I have some trust issues with it. I really want to make sure data is not lost in the transfer. Also better ui for pc webpage would be better.
I connected to the server using "ftp://IPADDRESS:PORT" in MacOS Finder. The user and password is "anonymous" by default. Now I can wirelessly transfer all my data to my Desktop while on a private LAN without having to use cables, cloud storage, or slow/buggy software. This cross-platform, native solution runs fast and does exactly what I needed it to 😃. Once I'm done, I shut it off, it's pretty simple. My phone is battery operated, so it makes sense to not run a file server on it 24/7.
