FEATURES:
- Free FTP Server
- UTF-8 support
- Restrict connections to selected wireless networks
- Access while on 3G (if supported by the mobile network)
- Restrict access to specific folder
- Verbose log output to trace connections/access and help in error solving
- Remote shutdown with custom ("SITE SHUTDOWN" command)
- Tasker and Locale Plugin Support

NOTE about permissions:WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE and READ_PHONE_STATE are implicitly added, because of compatibility to 1.5 devices (see http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1747178/android-permissions-phone-calls-read-phone-state-and-identity) for an explanation. Since there is still people with 1.5 using my FTPServer, I do not want to set the minimum required permission to a higher version.

Was a great app when it was still supported by android. Android 10 does not seem to be supported.

The best FTP server app for android, IMO

Tam. K. Aug 11, 2017

Sadly it did not work on my Nexus 5X. I could not choose / modify the default directory (/) and when I tried to connect from my PC it said something wrong with the folder permissions. I run on the stock Nexus 5X ROM, I give every permission to the app it requested. Other FTP app worked on the first try. Which is sad as I'd like it this one more feature-wise.

If you know anything about FTP, this was extremely easy to set up, connected instantly and worked very fast. With the limitations of Kit Kat you can no longer write to the external SD card. The work around for this "security feature" was supplied by a quick response from the programmer.

Options look good. that's where it ends. It didn't work, i finally connected, can't get a list of files just says no permission in log. tried restricting to default also same error. There is no default settings, and the interface is not intuitive. I installed the app: wifi ftp server and i was able to connect within seconds. Almost thought that android 7 has some extra permission issues. but it's just the app that is not good.

I love this and I've been using it for a while on my other phones. Connecting over USB cable to android can be such a pain. With this I just turn on the server. Connect. Copy. Done. No messing around hoping my phone will turn up in explorer or only being able to access a small part of the filesystem. Best of all. No adverts. The creator has made a simple and functional ftp server without bloat. I rate this program 11/10 :)

EDIT: NOT UPDATED AND CANNOT CHOOSE DIRECTORY ON NEWER ANDROIDS, SHAME. Just what it says on the tin, and without much hassle. Only thing I would like added is deleting the remembered connections (the list can get a bit long using different wifi connections)

Minimal app that does just what it says, and doesn't leave lingering services running after you stop FTP. Optional restriction to specific WiFi networks for more security. Real-time log window is useful for debugging transfer issues. Setup requires a little knowledge of FTP and doesn't hand-hold. I tried many others and this is the one I settled on.

Saves me having to connect my phone via cable to transfer pictures and files. File transfers couldn't be easier. Really easy to setup and works perfectly. I love the simple interface, which is functional without being overkill, allowing me to see what is going on. I have it setup as a bookmark in my file browser, so files are just a single click away. Running on Marshmallow (6.0.1).

The app loses a star because of its clumsy interface and, especially, the awkwardness of setting it up if you don't know quite what the fields mean. The default directory should be the SD card, not root — most users are not rooted experts. But, once set up, this app works flawlessly and instantly without any fuss, every time. I don't see any need to ever use a USB connection again. For this, and the fact that there are no ads, it regains its lost star.

I achieved the highest speeds with this FTP server, by a vast marign, and I've tried many. Works flawlessly. An option to see the plain text password would be appreciated though. Also a general "WIFI" option in allowed connections types, instead of listing current wifi connections. Edit: Now I saw there is a problem with timezones. All file times displayed in the ftp client are shifted by 3 hours compared to other ftp servers where this is not an issue. Please fix the timezones issue.

Using ES File Manager to act as the ftp client on my phone, I was able to quickly copy several folders of audio books from my tablet. Other apps like Xender failed miserably. Using Chrome (on my phone), I was able to log in to FTPServer and see all of my files, but not transfer them, so what you're trying to use as the client on the receiving end makes a big difference. 5 stars +++++!

It does work, but it has some major issues. It arbitrarily limits the ports you can use, preventing you from using the default ftp port, and it makes you approve every single wifi network you want to use it on by hand. Didn't see an option to just accept connections in every network.

Installed this app on my new Nexus 5X, it worked on my last one with an older Android version. With this one I always get an failed to retrieve directory listing. I switched to the other app called FTP Server, it is not as clean and has ads, however transferring files works... Would prefer to use this app

It does what it says it does. Using a Nexus 6 coming from a Galaxy Note II, I miss my SD card a little bit. Instead of USB mass storage, modern android phones use MTP, which isn't very reliable for me. This FTP server does a great job with handling my file transfers. I have yet to encounter any reliability issues. The only thing I wish it had was maybe SFTP as an option especially for FTP over the internet, since FTP is not a secure protocol. Great app! Would recommend.

Has stopped working under Android 10 completely. "Not accepting connections in WiFi mode for $unknown ssid$". I usually rated this app 5 stars but now I can't because people need to know that it no longer works. Sorry. Please open source this app, so that people could continue working on it. It was among the best ftp servers for Android.

A. G. u. Feb 27, 2015

Has features others don't, like enabling only for certain networks. It doesn't support to have wildcard support for mget. It simply says that the file does not exist. Would be helpful for some of my needs, but overall still a solid FTP server.

Been using this for years on my Galaxy Note 1. Extremely satisfied! Cannot find a better FTP server application, however the application is an need of an update. My recent device is running Android nougat 7.1.1 and this app has trouble setting the "default directory". The default directory by default is "root (/)" and this app cannot access that. So whenever a client tries to connect to this, it just cannot list the directory content. Please update. Thank you very much, keep up the good work! God bless!!

Simple, fast, ad-free. This is a minimalist app that's truly free. It does exactly what it needs to do without anything extraneous to get in the way, without ads, and without any upselling. FYI, Tasker integration isn't documented very well -- it's found under Plugins in the Tasker action choice list, for whoever else might be looking.

@ Andreas: Thank you for providing such a simple FTP app. I recently moved over from Jelly Bean (Samsung phone) to Nougat (Lenovo phone) and am unable to use this app. since I am unable to change the default directory. If you could make an update to change the default directory, I presume that this problem would be resolved. Please consider!

I needed this and very happy using it. Please note I could not see ext sd card using Browser interface . But I installed Filezilla ftp client and it works as expected. Thanks a lot.

Leave the log view alone, it's perfect. The settings screen could communicate a little better maybe with an OK button that validates settings. But the 1 minute learning curve was fine and I'm quite happy with this app.

Sometimes directory listing fails, and remote globbing doesn't seem to work with mgets. On the other hand, the device I'm using it on is old and terrible, and no one in the 21st century uses mget.
