Works well and most poor reviews are from frustrated kids, which pretty much documents that it is effective. However, it us very annoying that you cannot transfer the already purchased licence to a replacement phone when your child gets one. Why doesnt Android offer such child protection functionality as standard?!
I have used this for years and have been quite satisfied. Currently installed on an Android 9 phone, and it works. UPDATE: THE BROWSER NEEDS AN UPDATE!! WHAT THE HECK? THIS APP HAS BEEN ABANDONED!
The application won't start on my son's phone. After going to the support page I see they don't answer questions any more. Now I want my money back!
its horrible half the time it doesn't work at all the other half it blocks everything and is the worst thing a control freak dad could get his hands on I'm FIFTEEN my dad shouldn't have the power to block everything on the phone I PAID FOR it completely ruined my old tablet

What a colossal waste of time! After installation and deep configuration EVERYTHING was blocked! My son was so upset with me! 🙄. I sent Funamo support a detailed email, even including some constructive suggestions for the app, but got no response. Zip. Nada. Do yourself a favor and DON'T BOTHER. Try free Family Link from Google instead.
Actually works it completely locks all content i want my child not to see or mess with.
My main problem with this app is they still don't have a fix for the safe mode problem. There is currently no way to block out chrome if the phone is booted up in safe mode. My other issue is with customer service. If you need support you will be rerouted to allanswered where you will be promptly ignored. A great app when it works, but pointless when it does not.
Took a little bit to get it set up (careful reading) but now that I have it set up it is working pretty well.

I keep getting an error code when I try to add a website or key word to blacklist. I emailed you and have got nothing. It was good until the most recent update. Can you please help. I upgraded the funamo browser to 3.0. I went on my PC and tried to to sync it again. on the device it wont let me sync or add any thing. Update... I just added it to another phone and it won't work. Just emailed you. Please help.
I upgraded one star because it looks like my issues with Bluetooth have been corrected for now. If this is, indeed corrected, I will give it 5 stars. The problem I was having was devices I was paired with would occasionally have difficulty connecting and I couldn't manually connect because the App would block it without entering user name and password.
Beware the device specific license. It's not one license per thing you want it on, it's a new license every time you get a new phone. This is my daughter's third phone, that's 3 licenses so for the same thing and the old licenses are pure profit, something we paid for and can't use.
The best combination of features and value in a control app: - pay $19.99 ONCE (not every year, like most apps) for the life of the device - works with ALL browsers, not just the app's browser (using Advanced setup) - block specified websites (or, as alternative, allow only whitelisted sites) - block keywords which appear on websites - block selected apps - can block usage during selected times of day - and much more. My wish list for improvements: * block by wildcards in the URL (e.g. any domain with "game" anywhere in the URL) * enable self-moderation, so that the user can block websites (look at K9 Web Protection for an excellent example of this on a PC) * block websites by categories. This is a huge task, to compile and keep up to date category lists. Funamo should partner with a company which already does this--like K9 Web Protection). * In fact, K9 Web Protection has an Android app, but it is totally useless. The two companies would be absolutely perfect partners!!!
I purchased a license long ago. Now it is saying that I need to purchase again....
Never let me block anything unless I purchased the yearly subscription. Should not be in free apps. From upset parent and the app won't Uninstall or except that my last name has Two words.
This app works quite well for blocking things and has lots of options. I previously gave this a lower rating because it could take days for a remotely unlocked app to start working. Turns out you just have to press a sync button on their website control panel. That button really shouldn't be necessary, it should be automatic. And their support seems to be non-existent. Otherwise it is an effective app.
