FurReal Maker: Proto Max
Programming: With the app, you can Customize your pup’s responses to more than 10 different activation points. How will it react when you pet its nose? Maybe it’s happy, maybe he sneezes! When you turn it upside down, does it bark, turn blue, or roll its eyes? (Maybe it does all three!) Will your pup have the personality of a small, medium, or big dog?
Coding: Drag-and-drop play in the app makes it fun to code actions and routines using sound, color, eye animations, and motion! You could, for example, code a routine in which your pup turns in a circle, barks, and then shows sleepy eyes. Or you might code it to do all those things at once – the only limit is your imagination! App Tutorials walk you through the basics, while app challenges help build your skills.
Remote control: After you’ve coded some cool routines using the app, you can direct your pup to perform them in real time. Use shortcuts to activate the routines, and choose emoticons to select his quick reactions. The readout also tells you if the pup’s sensors are activated. Imagine this: you code your pup to walk toward your sister. When she pets the pup, the readout tells you -- then you make it respond with a great big BURP! LOL!
Games: The app isn't just for customizing and coding your ultimate pup -- you can also to play a variety of interactive mini games! Feed your pet, play catch and memorization games, and even decorate a virtual doghouse. (Note: Pup may not agree with all your design choices).
Achievements: The more you code and play within the app, the more you can unlock achievements, earn virtual badges, and reveal more awesome content (including sounds, motions, and eye animations) to further customize your pet.
Tips:
• Make sure your pup’s powered on! Replace batteries if there’s no power.
• Follow app instructions for connecting pup to your device.
• Check that Bluetooth® is enabled on your mobile device.
• Make sure pup is within 10 feet of device and not connected to another device. If it is, disconnect.

TURN ON LOCATION SERVICES TO PAIR IN THE APP Following instructions to install, and set up the dog, nothing happens at all. You can see the Bluetooth device when manually searching but pairing and the app do not see anything. Till one small line in someone's review, turn on location services for the app. And voila works. this needs to be either documented or fixed.
Absolutely horrible! Previous reviews about connectivity issues are still true. How has Hasbro not fixed this?! The app will not connect to the dog even though my bluetooth shows it as paired! Without the app the dog is useless. Thanks...
At first it was very fun but then it started taking more iPad space and eventually stopped working and stop thinking but this was really fun for Christmas it would have five stars if it started working still and it stopped turning on and it just took me to a black screen
App will not find my Proto Max on any of my devices. I can see a Makers device in my Bluetooth settings, and pair it there, but the app just searches endlessly. the app can tell if Bluetooth is on or off, but thats it. Maybe app requires an update?
found the solution for connecting the pup, had to enable the location on setting and have to turn on the bluetooth and location button on state. good working now. using samsung s8
I can't even get to the app. Got this for my nephew for his birthday. But got it way early. Got it to turn on when we first opened it up and now it won't work. And because I bought it so long ago I can't return it. Search high and low for directions on the internet cannot find anything to tell me what I'm doing wrong 0 out of 5 stars
won't connect to the toy. trued on 2 devices - nogo. you can't really quit the app, have to go to the home screen and kill it from recent apps.
Wouldn't work until i finally found the app permissions and enabled "location". Ridiculous the app is tracking my location to work.
Compatible with cell phones circa 2010 only. Such a waste of money. This will not work on a phone thats newer than 4 years old. 🚮 Trash
App can not find paired toy on the any in the list of compatible devices. Kids were very disappointed. First Unhappy birthday. Thanks Hasbro.
it's a little difficult to understand at first but besides that its really cool to see your dog doing all the cool and weird and amazing things
This app will not connect to any of our devices and therefore is not working at all. Very frustrating.
i looooove this game its great but i would rate five stars if you could add a kitchen to feed your pup with different types of food? or a lake for your pup to drink from or a bed for it to sleep in when its low on battery and a picture of you beside the puppie and you need to comfort it until you put new batteries in or a walk to make it healthy or a vet to care for it? or a pee/poo stashion and last of all a when its a holiday special offers and events and decorations? if you add that five ,⭐
You need to update, children are getting this toy in stores new, and it is not working. Very shameful.

how do you turn on this pupy?
This app appears as compatible with all our devices. In practice it works only on a single very old phone. It doesn't work on 3 other modern android devices that we tried, and outputs misleading error messages. On the old phone where it runs it kills the battery within a couple of minutes. Unusable in any form for us.
