I LOVE this app. FINALLY a free security app that can provide different essential features for you to combat cyber threats and keep your device along with your Info safe and secure. I also was a big fan and user of Fyde prior to becoming barracuda and I must say it has only gotten better. I only wish that it would be more vigilant in its recommendations.
Just installed and uninstalled. Did a security check of phone after installing: no surprises. Was unable to access anything on the web at all while app was installed. This problem went away when app was uninstalled. No special permissons or alterations to base program used. I use my phone 99% of the time on the web. No point of this security if I can't get on the web. Sites attempted to access and blocked: several national newspaper websites, Facebook, medical information websites.
Not clear what it does, and how well it does that. I do know that when I installed this on top ofthe NetGuard app, until I rebooted my phone, it proceded to silently block the NYTimes app, and my library app. (And probably anything else using the net, though I didn't try) I'll probably uninstall. Part of the problem for folks interested in both privacy AND security, is that you can not "stack" apps using the Android VPN api (this is an android problem- and a complicated one to solve)
This program installed very quickly and easily without any issues. I am amazed it the about of data it is blocking. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to protect themselves.
It is not blocking ANYTHING. I tested 20 verified phishing websites from Phishtank. Chrome blocked almost all, but when I turned off Chrome's safe browsing feature, with Fyde turned on, Nothing got blocked. Same result on PC. In the activity section of this app, Fyde allowed all traffics from these old verified phishing sites. PLUS, the report bug function does not work. Your support page said I can't submit a ticket. That's why this review appears here.
I wish it didn't have an eternal notification from Android System that I'm connected to Fyde VPN. I don't want a constant reminder. I want it running in the background. My notification bar is valuable space. The app shouldn't use it unless it needs to tell me something.
Everytime I connect to the VPN I cannot get any apps to load or web pages. Not sure what's wrong, I've used this app on iPhone and it worked great, never had any issues.
Nice security app that blocks THOUSANDS of data mining requests from innumerable websites like ads, Facebook, etc. I don't even have a Facebook account yet numerous requests come from Facebook for data mining. The only negative is you have to regularly restart the app to keep it active.
I was using Fyde on my phone for VPN. I must have a VPN. ID and social security # were stolen. Had taken nearly 5 years to get rid of him. I also use Sophos X internet security for phone. They have worked so well. I don't get ads. My phone doesn't run hot because there are no ads coming through. It looks as if Barracuda is not used for phones anymore. I'm still using it but would like to know if you have something comparable to Fyde for cell phones. I've tried others but they bring ads. Help ple
Seems to be blocking my roaming data access and certain pages of the New York Times app recently. Problem cleared up after deactivating Fyde. Was not interfering until a few days ago.
Here is the discrepancy. Fyde sets up a VPN of its own. The key icon in the status bar is visible. No indication of VPN when you do an IP check. Confusing.
Very happy with this service, but not happy that it is now only going to be for enterprise accounts. It would have been nice if when they announced the change to enterprise accounts that they gave recommendations for comparable replacements
Broke my T-Mobile Tuesdays messages. TMo Tuesdays wouldn't show my messages until I disconnected Fyde. Other than that I guess it does what it is supposed to do. Update: broke ALL of my T-Mobile apps. Uninstalled. Finished with it.
Very happy with this app - blocks annoying ads in NYTimes app - appears to work for the Wash Post app also. Unfortunately, this great app is no longer free. 😨
The key at the top disappears sometimes.. makes me think it's not working at times.. checked for updates, there's none.
Nice application without privlages beyond user, however to say it is secure without enterprise enrollment, is a stretch, pardon no a leap, into I don't see how this will provide any intrusions within any host being used for networking.
I absolutely love using Fyde. It's easy to use and most importantly, it gets rid of the security concerns and threats that I would have to deal with. With Fyde I can focus on what I do best and being productive.
i love fyde when i had an iphone but android app keeps crashing. runs for about an hour and then when i go to open the app it crashes.
It says that screen lock is off, but I turned on screen lock on Chrome OS! Anyways, this is really good app because unlike other VPNs, I don't spend money.
Awesome. This was an amazing app on the apple platform but here it doesn't have the same functionality and found it limiting in what it finds.
Really good vpn. Have it installed on both my ipad air2 and my Huawei. Works on both and as never let me down yet. Would recommend it two everyone. A most have program.
got a new device and had to download again now I Cannot get passed enrollment. It keeps asking for business name when it doesn't apply and there is no bypass I've found.
Forces users who already have a VPN installed to switch to a Fyde VPN. There is no rating of the effectiveness of Fyde's VPN. Won't use this app unless I am free to retain my choice of VPN.
Blocks use of Google Games to back up and restore games. Causing several games to not work at all. Legit games like: Bloons TD 5 & Mario Kart.
Blocks ads on browser, it seems, but not on my email or NY Times app. Caused me some grief by blocking access to an airline app. Took me awhile to figure that out. When I called the airline for help, before that, they had no idea that other apps could interfere. It would make sense, I think to have apps like that allowed by default and save users some grief. Now I have to keep in mind that if I run this app and other apps don't function, to go back to Access as the source of the problem.
