G.I. Joe: War On Cobra

So much nostalgia. Really brings you back to the classics, but keeps your attention with good graphics and gameplay. The world map dynamic for the campaign is nice, you can feel like you're really conquering land rather than just constantly raiding people, and it has all the basic things a good mobile strategy game needs to be good. I dock a star because it is still in the early stages, and I've been having this thing where the graphics on opening the chests are weird and hard to read.

Enjoyable base builder with great graphics. Could use some more music and a revenge option after being attacked. Not sure I like the ability to switch between factions as i prefer to be loyal to one when playing these games but other then that it's worth playing. I dare say it will soon become apparent that less im willing to pay money I'll have some long upgrade times, but that's the norm for these games.

I like the idea and gameplay mechanic however there are a few issues that i wish had been left in the past. Im not the biggest fan of having to wait for crates to unlock new units to use in battle, especially when u have to wait for one crate to finish before moving onto the next one. Its just a huge turn off to where id just uninstall and try to find something better to play. The game has a lot of potential but its some of the small crucial things that matter most when it comes to these games.

I am a huge fan of the franchise, but that is beginning to change. My game continuously crashes mostly at the wrong time. The game gets buggy too often. Trying to get to the end of these missions are near impossible. Also many of these for es have 4 & 5 missiles or support. I've been stuck at 2 for quite a while. I have contacted your customer service without response. I may terminate my account.

I was originally stuck on the 100% load screen, which left me disheartened. After a phone restart, I've been able to play the game. It's similar to most games of its kind- establish a base, collect resources and units, attack other people. What sets it apart is the licensing and ftp friendliness. This is (almost) the GI Joe I grew up with. There are a few changes, but it doesn't matter. The nostalgia is awesome. The game is free to play with the option to pay.

Lets start with the good. I loved the games art style and the nostalgia with the characters and vehicles was great. The gameplay itself was a standard tower defense but if your a fan of those and GI Joe, you will enjoy this. And what went wrong? Performance, the game runs like a slug. I'm sure they will streamline this later with bug fixes and optimizations, but as it stands right now, it takes away from the overall experience.

Great franchise, poorly executed. Got a sea battle, at level 2, requires 2 sea units, which are not available till much later. Flashing icons prompting you to buy things, plus giant pop-ups are annoying. No clear route for progress, figure it out as you go leads to a disadvantage and slow start. Same level battles are impossible to complete, choking progress more, early on. Not engaging enough to stay in game for more than a couple of minutes.

I think the devs are making headway on all of the bugs and glitches that were almost crippling in months past. That is a plus. The look, feel, and concepts of the game are very fun, it is the execution that is the problem. There are still too many bugs, and sometimes they even cost you rewards. The new battle pass will sometimes and sometimes not let you queue cargo. The biggest issue is timed cargo unlocks. Just stop... it absolutely sucks so much joy and ability to play out of the game.

Like boom beach, but with the characters I loved as a kid, except... not really? There are balance issues all over the place, the pricing for bundles seems out of left field (are there people out there paying over $100 for characters? That's nuts) the gold system in game feels like it was designed for some other use, which was then forgotten. Why are the currencies for building oil and intel? That's weird. Crystals for resupplying and exploring the map? Why? Has potential, may be good later

This game is essentially Boom Beach with GI Joe heroes. It's not bad, but it also get boring very quickly. There's a lot of log on, do one thing, log off very quickly and early in the game. Chests take 4-8 hrs to open which is WAY too long imo. It's just a very time stretching game when it doesn't need to be. I deleted it within a day or so and only had managed to get to Level 3 before I couldn't take the slow anymore.

Really cool. I loved the movies. And too see that there is a game too? Love the graphics, and effects. What I really like the most, Is the opertunity to choose your side; most games never allow that. Just started playing It. Feels pretty balanced. I like the simple resource mechanics, no need for two different resources on one building. Don't need to build a bunch of barracks for soldiers. I'm liking It so far. Looking forward to many hours ahead.

Gi Joe is almost there. The game suffers from the same issues most base building/attack games: matches either too easy or too hard, sometimes it feels like I make more progress not playing than playing, and the usual pay to win drive. That out of the way, I really like this one. I love the GI Joe theme, the ability to pick between Cobra and Joe, and the art style. I actually care how my base looks and if my resources are protected, and opening packs to try and collect new Joe's.

Slap together horribly. The menus are garbage, advertising system is trash, and the tutorial covers every feature of the game in less than 3 minutes. How anyone is expected to remember any of that I don't know. Basically it's boom beach with a few small twists on the way you pick your single player campaign missions. But after comparing prices in stores this game is more expensive than boom beach by a multiple of 9.6. That makes it 10 times more expensive then an already overpriced game.

Hopefully it gets better before it gets worse. Need to be able to lock your base objects so you cannot accidentally move them. The number of 'named characters' is lacking considering the 100s of characters available to choose from. Energy, gold, and resources are more difficult than expected so early in the game. Pay to win in the works akin to Transformers: Earth Wars. I'm not spending any $ on the game, but we'll see how it improves in the next few months.

This could have been better. You do get to play both sides, but it's a mediocre base building game, so there's that annoying wait time issue for both. Characters are too limited (why only one "named" Cobra/Joe deploys at a time?) and art is cutsy (think preschool rescue heroes). All the missions seem to advance faster than your teams can, putting you at walls (probably to encourage spending). It really feels like the game came before the liscense, which is a shame due to lacking for this...

The Baroness event just wrapped. I worked out enough to buy a 5 pack of that reward. I opened 1 box, then the tutorial screen meshed with the box process. The game froze. I had to restart it. And the 4 remaining boxes vanished. I reached out to support via email, zero response. Zero help. I want to like this game. But without customer service, the expensive price inside of this game isn't worth my time. Side note, the in game bundles are way overpriced to begin with.

It gets addicting when you're winning, but I'd like to be able to choose the item I need when spending my coins. So much fun! I haven't spent money when playing through so it is time consuming, patience is needed to fortify bases, level up characters, and choosing your attack strategy.

Started playing the second month it came out. It is an absolute grind to clear out a buyout box for the events. The drop rates in the buyout boxes are absolutely terrible. Forty boxes, I didn't pull the one featured character until pull 28. Fun, but it's a huge time investment if you want to have everything. Just started offering battle pass, $10 per faction for a 2 week season. Doesn't really seem worth it for what it gives you.

Not bad, I know this game is new but it needs some work and some balancing. Hopefully they will be adding additional characters and equipment. Also, the graphics are a little to cartoonish, some additional detail would be nice. Would be cool if they used music from original tv show from the 80s instead of the generic music they are using now. If they address some of these suggestions would give 4 or 5 stars. CAN YOU PLEASE ADD A FUNCTION TO LEAVE THE APP? THERE IS NO WAY TO EXIT GAME.

Every update seems to break something. The only solution support comes up with is to force close and clear cache. This never fixes anything and they don't seem to look into the root cause of the issue, nor do they seem to look into issues that have been persistently raised. Like time sensitive events resetting on the last mission only to restart where you left off after 12 hours.

So slow to build, even in the lower levels. So hard to battle as you have to wait forever to put troops on each time for the main characters. Not enough map areas. Barely anyone to battle and those you do, it is to hard to fight. Great potential, but someone got greedy for money to get you to buy more to speed it up and thinking the game should be extremely difficult. Do not waste your time.

The game allows me to reconnect with my childhood . However recent game glitches like vehicles getting stuck, or moving all eraditic and when you try and change out an enemy base and spend gold on it and the base doesnt change but you still have spent the gold are getting very frustrating because you now having to spend diamonds to unlock the battle cargo timer. Also the battle cargo timer is to long. 3 hours to refresh just one level is making it impossible to level up to the next tier.

Updated: still a great Casual game. I've got two different account one on my phone and one on my tablet. Here is a helpful review. Graphics are pretty good, but there is slow down on the world map and when you collect rewards. That's the worst of it. The best is the fact they went into so much detail that when baroness fires her special move she recoils and her hair blows back. Roadblock will react to seeing cobras and though his model is small he has a lot of body language. Crud out of space.

So far pretty awesome, I don't understand why you have to resupply so often and why it costs so much when you do. When I first reached level 3, the only opponent I had was a level 9 and no idea if that was a player or computer. The radar upgrade didn't show much and it isn't really following the story as I thought.

It's a good game but I had to Uninstall it due to the constant freezing and/or crashing and kicking me out of the game. Shame considering all the time and money that I put into the game. When the crashing and freezing issue is fixed then I'll reinstall and give a 4 or 5 star rating. Until then uninstalling the game. But other than those two issues, I like the game. So please fix them so that I can reinstall the game. Thank you.

It was fun until it started crashing. It crashed mostly when loading event missions (which made me lose turns) and then it started crashing when loading the game. Now I can't load it at all without a crash when it finally gets to 100% loaded. I wish I never spent money on the game. It stinks because I like playing it UPDATE... customer service has not helped me with the crashing issue yet. I sent the requested info and then was ghosted on the crashing issue. They responded only to a diff issue

This game is really fun the gameplay between both factions is slightly different and matches them very well. Only issues so far is most of the menus and effects cause the game to lag alot. This makes it super frustrating to play. So far it dosnt lag during combat so that is nice. After some work and adding more characters (because there's alot more Joe's and Cobra's not yet in the game) this game will be great.

More nostalgic than anything. Like most mobile app games, it takes money to truly progress through quickly. Otherwise it takes HOURS of waiting to open treasures you've already won. The gameplay itself is decent, nothing out of the ordinary or extraordinary by any means... ad I said before, it's a nice "in between" game to play based mostly off of nostalgia.

After the latest update the game wouldn't load up for me. Got stuck at 10%. Waited for hours hoping it would load up, but it never did. I uninstalled hoping reinstalling would fix and it loaded right up, except now all my progress is lost and I'd have to restart from the beginning. Not worth it since the game isn't that much fun. Only played it because I grew up loving G.I.Joe, but sadly I can't get by the horrible art design, and where's the theme music? Transformers earth wars is better

So far so good. Slow at times but it is new and still getting the kinks out i guess. Love the ease and simplicity of the game. The ability to change sides at will anytime is a welcome change from mobile games like star wars or transformers that once you choose thats it. Nice to be able to experience the "whole" game. Ecspecially for joe fans. The graphics are simple but well done. Love the ease of play. Hope this is around and continues to improve and grow better with time.
