It's so hard to find a good maps app. This one is fast, intuitive, unobtrusive and lets you pick map sources and layers which for whatever reason is unique. Thanks!
Search is not smart. Searched for the name of a gas station and it shows one 500 miles away instead of the one 5 miles away. Everything else is fast and responsive and well thought out, maps update monthly for free. Cloud sync costs money.
I've payed for this app and ca't use it. The navigation voice talks way, way, way too much. PLEASE provide an option in settings to DISABLE spoken street / road names. For god's sake...
Good interesting maps, but the app is a bit skittish, a slight touch and you can be looking at an area a long way away. Also I can't find a "keep North at top" button.
Guru maps' look is easy to use. Nice detail whether in town or out. But the 'find a route' function is terrible and the navigation of the site is confusing. I've tried many times to plan routes /save routes but never been able to. Just end up figuring out by looking at the map. Frustrating because Google maps does all those things well, but has less detail.
For my needs it has been perfect. I've used it all round the world when I have not had Internet connection and I need a map. I plot the places I want to go on the map before I leave an Internet connection then I basically read it as I would a paper map except I can always see where I am and there is a lot of detail. A very visually pleasing, user friendly interface. I couldn't imagine traveling without it.
Great stuff. I've been using this app for about 6-7 years now. It's perfect for what I need. Easy to export all your pins and data if you upgrade your phone. I used Guru map as my primary navigation whilst driving through 52 countries. Great maps available for every country. The offline feature is really useful in remote areas with no internet access.
Doesn't seem to have Android Auto support. Pretty easy to use and simple. Would actually like some more customization options about turning off things like elevation changes, which I really don't care about and always shows on the display taking up space. Pro version seems awfully expensive given the price and quality of other apps available.
i really like the concept of this app and the level of details in the maps is superb. unfortunately, i just can't use it - every time i install it, it works for a while and then my phone will freeze - sometimes to the point where the only fix is to press the power button till the phone goes off.
Ive used this map for over 5 years now and no complaints. I like having the option of having an offline map, esp if signal strength is spotty. Easy to download whatever states (and I use Mexico too, but its not as useful as US maps) I may currently be traveling to, and if storage is limited on your device, delete the ones you wont be needing soon. I have not used the pro version - the free one is ok for me.
Amazing map program. Best I have found. Pls can ask the developers to consider adding dirt roads as dark lines that are easy to see when riding an adventures motorcycle. The adv riding community will love it All the best
Updated app 14 Dec. All my offline maps were deleted. Try to download new map, but after 15-30 sec has error CURL 28 or CURL 7. Also the speed of downloading is very low, but speed of my Internet is really fast in another apps
- Route built through the points in REVERSE order (the point that I added first were considered at the end of the route) -- that was annoying - Coloured route in the bike mode is great, yet, I would suggest colourinng not the altitude, but gradient slope: I'm not interested in the altitude at which I'm biking, but I'm extremely interested in CHANGES of the altitude along the way - Orientation of streets' names need to adjust along with map's orientation (upside down names are hard to read)
On a trip home from Germany to Copenhagen. I tested out the app vs Google maps. Infound that the route it showed me was fine, the distance (km) was way off. Google maps showed me 164 km from Rødby harbor to my home. And Galileo showed me 282 km. So there must be an inacurracy or bug in the cosing. Other than that. I like the app features and hope this small thing gets fixed
This is excellent, thank you for this application! On small tip; I can hardly see that the app is calculating the route. The blue circle around the play button is hard to see (the calculation takes a bit longer on the tablet I mounted on the bike).
Excellent App. I have used this for some time. Only minor niggles that prompted me to uninstall, to satisfy my digital minimalism philosophy. This app would deserve 5 stars, if; 1. Zoom levels during Navigation can be enhanced further. 2. Option to add/edit POI's using OSM Profile as can be done in Maps.me. 3. Better Voices Support. Option to download better sounding recorded voices in multiple languages. Come on Developers..!! I have faith in you. Please bring in these features and get 5 ⭐
I often import .gpx files into my navigation apps. I tried this several times with OSMAND, and when I start the navigation, OSMAND does not honor my route or waypoints. It is constantly trying to reroute me instead of following the route I've specified. I would rate the app high if it weren't for this critical issue. PLEASE FIX!
I have given this app 4 star after I purchased it. Unfortunately, after the recent update I lost the App and it took me back to the free version. Though I can still see it under my purchased apps but I can't restore my purchase. I went ahead to contact the App developers and in less than 20 mins they responded. I must say this is commendable. Now, the bugs on the updated app has to be fixed asap. once it's fixed I will give you 5 🌟
Actually, I use this map while hiking in Carpathians. It shows particularly all trails. You can even import some personal maps so u can configure your route as u wish. So glad I bought it lifetime. It sounds like ads review, but I like this so much that is actually my opinion
Guys, I can no longer open my KMZ files. This is since the recent update. When i attempt to open the file on any of my phones I simply get a message saying "Sorry, there are no apps installed that can open this type of file" I have deleted and reinstalled Guru Maps to no avail.
Simply the very best mapping app around for detailed map navigation at locality level. Particularly good for outdoor activities, walking, hiking, etc. Providing feature rich mapping based upon OpenStreet and other map layers, which can be fully downloaded onto the phone. Much of this high quality app can be accessed completely free of charge. It really is excellent. It can also be used as a standard navigation tool for turn by turn instructed vehicle journeys over long distances..
