I like the service, but the app got an update some time ago and now the app freezes every few seconds. It's almost completely unusable. Would give higher rating if fixed. But as I'm seeing reviews from months ago saying same thing I will not change my rating.
Cheap, slow, and underdeveloped app. They definitely cut corners here, basically unusable. Gamefly service itself is good... but the app makes the experience feel incomplete.
The service is fantastic! I've been a subscriber for a few years. But, man, what is going on with the app?! You can barely look at anything without freezing the device. I literally just updated it and it didn't change anything. It's a great service! Don't get me wrong. The app needs help.
2 stars are for the Website and Mobile Application, renting the games from this Company is Fantastic and I love it!!!! Please fix your Mobile Application and Website Application please. Also, would you mind making it easier for the rental option. It's really difficult to add it to my rental queue
So laggy and unresponsive. Its just barely usable and just struggles eating up battery life. Its a simple concept gone wrong. Flashy apps that don't work aren't as welcome as a basic app that does work is.
Love the service hate the app. It's near impossible to do anything on the app with it constantly freezing and crashing. Dont know why they cant fix their set up but its ridiculous
This app has been updated at least a dozen times since its "overhaul" and it is a sluggish, infuriating mess. Crashes every time you try and scroll through any section. I wanted to give the developers time to fix it before I rated the app, but a year of this is enough. The app is broken and needs to be reevaluated. Been a Gamefly customer for years and this app used to be fantastic, but it is the worst app I have on my phone.
gamefly itself is pretty great, app not so much. app used to be good, but redesign is a laggy mess, freezes for many seconds at a time, pops up a close/wait dialog constantly when switching pages. all of these complaints are not unique, and not new, and yet here we are, months after the redesign, and still a terrible, horrible app experience.
As others have mentioned, although I don't have problems with Gamefly itself, this app is almost impossible to use. Just go to the website instead, preferably on a PC.
Worst service I've ever dealt with in my entire life. Doesn't let me rent anything. Just says Forbidden, Server Error, etc. I contact them and all they say is sign out and sign in. Which I've done countless times. I'll find something else.
I love the home renting of games but sometimes I get on the app to change queue or possibly buy a ps5 & it always crashes. They should get rid of the gameplay video & concentrate on showing rentals only
Has too many glitches and freezes alot. Can watch a preview of a game qithout glitches in it. I have an android running android 11 so i know im running a good platform. So come on fix it
Every 30 seconds the app says not responding or every button click on the interface It takes me an hour to put a game at the top of my queue fix your app it is in unusable
The layout of the app is good and I enjoy gamefly but the app itself freezes and crashes on me constantly. It's absurd.
Really do love GameFly but the app is awful. Freezes for minutes every time you click on anything.
I'm only giving this a 1 star because for some reason everytime I boot up the app or even the website it freezes I've tried reinstalling etc but ever since they updated it to the new version it has been doing this so I unfortunately have to use my laptop to rent games the app in of itself is easy to navigate etc but it just freezes my phone.
Terrible app since the upgrade already uninstalled and re downloaded freezes and crashes every time
This app is incredibly hard to put up with. Whenever I tap something and switch to a new page or search something everything freezes for a few seconds and won't even let me scroll while it loads. And sometimes the freezing is so bad it just plain crashes. The mobile version of their website isn't much better.
This app is unusable. It is so slow and freezes all the time.
Great service, except that it's unquestionably the worst app I've ever used. Slow, freezes effectively constantly, UI is counterintuitive. Very nearly enough for me to cancel the service. Especially since the website is almost as bad and on some days worse. Can easily spend upwards of an hour trying to find and add a single game to the queue or reorganize it. And it's been like this for well over a year. And since the last time I had the service. I'm on a flagship ffs. Fix this, already!
Suprisingly quick delivery. Especially in these times. Works as intended, you just add something to your Q, and wait until you get a notification saying its been shipped. Sending it back is super easy, just put it in your mail box, in the package it came in, and bam. I've recommended this to everyone I know since I started using it. Its a great way to either catch up on what you missed, or play the newest titles without having to shill out $60, unless you like it enough to choose to keep it.
Great service, but the app is a little lacking compared to regular website. Some features missing (move to top, game lock) and browsing titles could use an "all games" option. Also it's not made very clear if something is going to be shipped. You move something to the top of your Q and just wait I guess. Would be nice to have a visual representation that it's going next and a tooltip on how it works like (this title ships next! You have 4 hours left to change your mind)
To be clear, I'm rating the service and not simply the app. The app is great, does what it's supposed to with a clean interface and no technical issues. The service is overpriced for the amount of time games spend in postal purgatory. Would be forgivable for, say, a $12 a month service. Not so much at close to $18, even taking into account purchase discounts and loyalty credit. Your still competing with used game prices after all. Good idea, overpriced by about 5 bux a month.
The app is nearly impossible to use. It freezes for about 30 seconds every time you tap on a game to read the description and it freezes again when you go back to the list of games. I've spent nearly an hour trying to add 4 or 5 games to my queue. Gamefly as a service is great but that doesn't matter if the app freezes every time you try to use it. This has been going on for a long time throughout several updates. Either fix your app or compensate me for all the time I lost to this buggy mess.
Their payment system feels 20 years outdated or older, they don't even accept Google Pay nor PayPal. Instead you must type out all your credit card and billing information and if it's not exactly the way your bank has it, you get a vague error and have to start over. It's easier to close your account than update your payments.
