GardenAnswers Plant Identifier

I downloaded the app. I was asked if I wanted an ad free subscription for $3.99. I said yes and was charged for it. Next step was to enter my name and email address and a verification code would be sent to me in a few seconds. I received nothing. Checked my spam folder too- nothing. Looked back at the app and it still said it was verifying my email address. This went on for 10 minutes. Still nothing. Restarted my phone and tried again. Tried 3x w/ different email address. Still nothing.

Despite the designers insisting that users needn't log in with an email address or a Facebook account in order to use this app, I can find no way to bypass the opening screen requesting this information. There is no "X" anywhere on the screen with which you can bypass the login screen. Glitch, or deceptive practices? Can't tell so I'm not going to try. Uninstalling it instead. (HTC U11 running Android 9).

I paid a horticulturist to find out a flower that I couldn't find in the ap and they 100% found it and told me ALL about it!!! Separately, it's pretty annoying when I open the app and it tries to get me to click on an ad, but when I press "no," it exits me out of the app instead of continuing forward. Plz just exit the ad and let me continue to the app.

Was once ok. Now it has the most useless "premium" feature that means that all you can do as a free user is to look at ads. It won't let you past the ads. This means that the app is essentially lying to you about being "free" or having any free features at all. Uninstalled and I'm reporting this app.

I liked the description of the app so I ordered the full version at $3.99. I have a plant picture that I wanted the app to ID. Got several possibilities but they were all false. I knew the plant was an heirloom poppy (Papaver) but have not gotten a positive ID for the species. I tried again and gave the app a hint - poppy! Well it returned several poppies, but none that had the appearance of the poppy I submitted. I will play with it some more, but so far I am not impressed.

I used to like this app, but now it is unusable because of how many ads it opens - 12 tabs of them on my most recent try, and that was after I had to reinstall to get it to do *anything* besides open ads. Now it will let me take a photo but gives an error instead of possible identifications.

I just downloaded this app. I take a picture of the plant and it goes to a black screen that says "proceed" in the top right corner. I tap it and it doesn't do anything but stay on the black screen. Even after waiting. My internet is fine. I don't understand why it won't work.

Can't use the app. I was so excited to find an app like this and couldn't wait use it. Now there is 2 options. You can pay for it or you can use it for free but you will get ads. I picked the 2nd option because I want to see how it works before I'll pay for it. I can't get past the verification screen. I can't even create a profile but it tells me that I did when I didn't do one in the first place. I did the verfication 3 times and can't get thru. So frustrating.

I down loaded this app based on some reviews/ratings! However, i have found this "Not to be user frinedly"! I take my picture then it doesnt give you any options! I just have to start tapping stuff! it needs to give u a place either right b4 picture or right after to put in a generalized, drop down arrow, discription of whet ur looking for! i.e. Shrub, Tree, Flowers, no flowers, leaf color - as dark green, lite green, purple..etc! Gives to many irrelavent options 1st thing!

Before I rate this app I have taken pictures of different plants but only get a blank screen. What am I'm doing wrong or not doing. I checked to see if I gave it permission. Tried one leaf two or three leafs everything I can think of any ideas anyone else had this problem

When I would try to take picture, it would show me on the screen, never the plant, and then when I FINA LLY got a picture of the plant, the screen went blank, and said what type of plant it was, and NOW the app is gone? I used this app on someone else's iPad and I loved it, but it hasn't worked on my iPad at all!

I love, love, love this app! It's wonderful to be able to take a picture of a plant and scan through recommended photos to find mine. Even better to be able to send a picture of one I'm not sure of to an expert and get a reply. Did that just today with a species of orchid I've never seen and got an email reply within two hours, not just identifying the orchid but giving me care instructions.

Certified crop advisor here. It is my job to create a nutrient managment plan working daily in landscapes, nurseries, and farms. I wanted to use this app to pin point weed varieties. This app gets plants pretty much wrong even common crops. The app opens 31 tabs, yes, 31 tabs of spam in my web browser. It also closes when you click "No" when asked to sign in via Facebook or supply an email address. Summary: Full of spam and wants your private information. Gets plants wrong most of the time.

very poor at identifying plants even with very clear pictures. Plants suggested as matches are often way off. I have used the ask an expert for a fee option and that does get better results.

Do not quite understand on how using an app for the past few years and which shows a last update 2020 I am all of a sudden asked to accept a new ToU and PP. Proceed with caution but it has been a useful app. After reading more into it I do not see for instance why this app needs to read my call logs as that seems a lil agressive. So will leave app idle for the time being.

This app is wonderful! You take a picture of the plant or I'm my case the thing growing on the plant, give a brief description of the problem and/or ask a question and hit send. The app then takes the information and responds via email.. They answered my question quickly and gave me recommendations to solve the problem... wonderful!!!

This is the third time I have used this app for plant identification and they are always correct. In turn I think I have learned a lot. I have always had a love for plants and when something pops up in my yard I’ll let it be and keep it watered. If it blooms I want to know what the heck it is! They have the answer. Best plant identifier I have ever used and is definitely worth the price of having a botanist look at it! I highly recommend this app!

I used to love this app, but now it opens up about 8 windows in chrome for garden sites every time you use it. It is VERY annoying so after having this for two years, unfortunately I am uninstalling it.

I have been apart of our community garden for over a year now and have taken courses taught by Master Gardeners. I took a picture of a catnip clipping I am propagating, and was pleasantly surprised to get the correct species. Love this app ❤️ it works perfectly for my needs!

I used this to try to identify a house plant. It gave me a bunch of suggestions that looked nothing like the plant I was trying to identify. Not even remotely close. Immediately uninstalled.

First time user. Tried to ID 2 different plants. No results even close. Rather than pay $1.99, I asked a real expert. They knew immediately and they are common plants! 😕

Since no option for using a photo from my gallery to identify a plant and only camera options, I wasn't even able to upload any images. The app implied this was possible, so I'm assuming it was a mistake having to do with only having camera apps able to access the app. Pls add an "upload from gallery" option

This app is not so good for me? I'm not sure if this app is just mainly for flower growers? But it could not identify just about all my vegetable plants in my garden? But most of my flowers the app got right! not all but most? As for tips and tricks on how to garden vegetables, its not there at all, you have to go to a community board, log in to a account and start asking questions? That may be good for some, but I want information, not a relationship. This app may be good for some but not me.

I took a picture and it was identified but, each time I tried to do another it would default to that first one; which I actually removed from the app AND my photo gallery. Basically, I got one ID and have removed the app.

This app is totally useless. Just installed and tried to use it. Took a photo of several different plants and all I got was a blank screen. I'll stick with the apps I have that work.

For my questions about what type of plant I'm looking at, I get good answers immediately, and exact matches each time! Very cool app.
