Dreadful compared to previous version! Doing stuff in background that steals resources and keeps giving failed to connect alerts. Never had these problems and although basic sync still works, I'm trying to roll back to a previous version. Suggest you skip this update if you're happy with what you have installed. Culprit is v4.50 I believe.

Mostly not intuitive UI and navigation through the app. It's hard to explain exactly what it is about it, but things just aren't where I expect, and/or they're difficult to remember how to get to. Also, and maybe most of the problem, syncing is pretty bad. The watch (forerunner 45) is always connected - I know because it gets my attention every time I walk 10 feet away to tell me - but the app usually won't manually sync or let me change settings on the watch like watch faces.

Worked great for the first 6 months or so. For about the past month, however, it will not stay connected to the watch (vivoactive 4s) via Bluetooth. Tried all troubleshooting steps several times and had multiple communications with customer support over the course of more than a week, but nothing works. I am beyond frustrated that I paid for a smartwatch and now all I have is a fitness tracker. It's a shame because when it was working, I loved it and would have rated it 5 stars.

It is cool, so far, it does show phone calls and the contact info that is calling and will auto reply, that's great! I thought it would show the entire text message when I get a text, but it just says message. I'm sure you guys can do better than that. This watch becomes NON-ESSENTIAL without reading text messages. Nobody wears a watch for 24hr workout data! Why ask for permission and not use it! Other watches have the sms messages displayed.

Pretty darn good. Coming from the Samsung and Fitbit apps, this is lightyears ahead in terms of data. Sure, it's a little overwhelming at first, but after you customize and get the best layout for your needs, it's better than any free fitness app out there. Pairing it with Garmin Explore if you're a hiker/trail runner or mountain biker takes it to the next level.

The app works well. the watch takes a lot to learn. I'm not convinced it knows when I'm sleeping. If i take a nap it says I'm resting. It doesn't start counting sleep until "bedtime" and doesn't wake up until wake up time. You have to tap it repeatedly to see the time in the middle of the night. Oh, that's all watch! Not app. The sleep increments are hard to see on my phone. And i still have no ideas what "body battery" is. I'm not real sure it can count stairs. I live upstairs and the numbers

Solid app, never really had issues but I find it very frustrating that with my brand new Instinct 2 solar I can't set alarms through the app, but all my older vivoactives allowed me too. It was a feature I used all the time because I constantly have to get up at different times for work and it seems like it should be a feature for all of their watches.

Why can't it sync offline? Most of the data in the app is useful, but it can't sync activities or even my sleep info without online access? I'm frequently off the grid for days at a time, but can't use the app at all until I get home. At least let it sync the data from my watch offline, and provide the analytics later. The "body battery" function also doesn't seem to be that useful or accurate. Mine is basically zero all of time unless I leave my watch off for a night, then it'll work for 1 day.

It'd be great if the devs could figure out how to fix a recurring bug that pops up every few updates. App loves to constantly ping gps, as in once it starts it doesn't stop without force closing the app and will tank battery life. This happens 2-5x daily, and has been a problem for over a year now. It's only this app; no other apps I have do this. Oh yeah, and like many others Bluetooth notifications are inconsistent at best. When it works the app is fantastic. EDIT 3: Guess it'll never be fixed

I got the watch for the 'body battery' functionality. Its very impressive and many patients I know, with me/cvs or long-covid, find this a very handy tool to stay within your own energy-limit. But for me this did not work. The sleep-recording accuracy was a joke, and it tells me I slept for 10 hours while I had a terrible 3 hour night with 8 hours total in bed. Thats just plain wrong. I tried for a few weeks, but got rubish results. After a bad night, it tells me my battery is all full, while I feel sick of exhaustion (PEM). So no. I had better results with a cheap knockoff. The app is nice. Seen better. The 'my day' page is reasonable configurable. One day the watch was out because I forgot to charge and the app reset itself. Took days before I got new data. Not impressed.

I'll update my review when garmin starts caring. One of the best apps out there, ruined my little issues such as the numeric keyboard not working, units not being flexible, or the one that ticked me off tonight after note writing - mobile connect overwriting desktop connect when syncing. A good tracker, but one you start dealing with any of the issues, they will never get fixed. Personally, I would steer users away because of it, sad for the decent quality devices made.

The app has very little help for finding my watch. You think Garmin with all their experience in GPS would be a leader here. No mapping. No letting you know if you are close. It does offer the ability to get your device to let off very soft sound. But I can't hear it. Tile app for very cheap could teach this product alot. Imagine, a GPS device that you can't find.

Incredibly bad route search UI. All routes on map are shown as start points only. There is no way to preview where they go except opening them one by one. Likely for this reason, people create new routes littering the map with hundreds of points and no way to sift through them. Because the routes are user generated and there's no naming convention, the list view is also useless. Established routes like EuroVelo are absent from the map. Also you can't import gpx.

This is a fantastic app for my Garmin Vivosmart watch! It's really helped me become more health conscious. I've just recently started walking and it calculates all sorts of stats for me. I got the watch on a whim never imagining how much I love it now, but the app integrates perfectly to give me a big picture of my daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly overall body functioning measurements. I wouldn't live without it now!

I'm not sure what's going on but since my Android phone updated almost two weeks ago, the Garmin app has been crashing constantly. I open it, it closes. I look at one screen, it starts flying through all my data screens (without my touching anything), and then crashes. The app updated yesterday and I thought that would help, but it's still acting like it's been possessed.

The app does not stay connected to the Bluetooth. It's pretty frustrating. This started about two or three updates ago and it keeps getting worse with every update you guys publish. I know it's not my phone because my other Bluetooth devices stay connected just fine. You guys need to come up with a fix and do it fast!

Very happy with the Garmin watches and the app! If they would manage to include a feature to visualise the weight while having the period cycle in the background would be great! Also a rotate (horizontal) screen option for the weight graph in order to see it zoomed in and a two 2 year time lapse graph! If this wishes of mine would be fixed, then 5 stars! There are soo many useless features like the calories in/out and active/resting visualisations...

I went a few months without my Garmin and tried to connect it to the app again and I have tried for hours. I have done all of the steps in troubleshooting, I have turned my Garmin and my phone on and off untinstalled and re installed the app over and over again, allowed permissions ECT. I'm starting to get very irritated as my watch doesn't even have the proper time on it. This issue needs to be resolved. I have noticed a few other reviews that are similar to mine. For something this expensive.

Many regrets. No updates to the device which is riddled with bugs. Takes about 20 minutes and 3 attempts for a simple course saved on the app to migrate to the device. The UX is beyond complicated/counter intuitive. The device itself can't navigate indepent of the app, at least not without waiting by the roadside for 15 minutes while it calculates a very simple route. The software doesn't recognise when you are on an overlapping route; that you're going in the correct direction, wants a U-turn

This app has removed my need to use Strava. It has everything I need in one app. The insights/comparisons offered are interesting, and the performance data you get from exercises is useful. It also offers training programs which are scheduled around your days, with useful training videos. It has a segments tool, like Strava, but for some reason you can't add them within the app, you must use the website. Everything is synced real time with my Garmin watch.

I don't know if it's the app or the Venu 2 Plus that's causing the problems. I'm guessing it's the software on the watch. I've gone through two Venu 2 Plus's and both of them will not stay connected to the app. When they do lose connection, I often have to re-add them into the Connect app. I used to have the Vivoactive 3 and the forerunner 935 and neither of them had any of these issues. This is making me rethink Garmin as a primary choice for smartwatches.

It's a great app BUT, the app looses bluetooth connectvity with the watch every single time you move away from the phone and then it losses the pairing. It is super annoying. I previously used it on an iPhone for almost 2 years and it never lost the pairing ones. With this app it looses it multiple times a day. I've actually given up trying to use the feature where I can see my messages and phone calls on my watch.... it's just not worth the effort repairing everytime I move away from my phone.
