Garmin eLog™ Compliant ELD

Wouldn't buy again. User interface is not bad. It will put you back on duty when you log out. I now log out, shutdown the app and restart the device, but it still changes your status sometimes. Does not work with Garmin DEZL800 GPS, I have 2 DEZL800's and 2 eldest same issues in both trucks. Customer support for eld sucks, noone knows anything about them. Basically something that should save an owner operator money is a waste of money. Take a little advice, spend the money on a eld subscription

I bought this about 4 months ago and love it! But today it was working fine, I stopped to take a shower, and now it won't connect

I'm having issues with it shutting off. I'm not sure if it is the phone or elogs. But it is getting crazy. Sometimes it will be fine for a few hrs then sometimes every few minutes. I have to unplug it under the dashboard for it to connect to the phone. Always something about the Bluetooth. Had this from the start .really like this. Started this when it needed an update Thanks it worked out. Had to reset phone 5 times. But the update finally stuck. Thanks for your help.

Sometimes when I start the engine, the ELD puts me in driving status, even when I'm not moving. The new rule is not compleat. It automatically puts me in driving status after just 5 mph (I would like it to be at least 10 mph). After every hour I drive, it shows my odometer and number of hours the engine has been running, but the numbers it shows are wrong. Also, I wish it wouldn't show anything at all, since it is not mandatory. It is not nesesary to show each time when the engine start/off.

Software issues are fixed! It's working as good now as It did when I 1st got it. 2 days since the software fix update got installed (10/14/20). Not a single problem, peaceful driving. Upgrading my review from 1 star to 4. Design flaws: 1 The lock ring for the diagnostic port has no resistance when in lock position, so it vibrates loose and falls out while driving. 2 The 6 to 9 pin adapter is 6" Long. I had to loop it back and tape it to itself so it wouldn't keep getting in front of my clutch.

this app is horrific. it freezes all the time, for some stupid reason they make you log in all the time, I'll literally log in 20 times a day. add in the fact the app freezes and is slow is very frustrating, having to wait 2 or 3 minutes every time you have to update your duty status. was trying to see what my recap for tomorrow would be, switch screens, re log in, took for ever to bring the data up.

My device says paired but the app says not connected... Keeps happening over and over again. On top of the, every few minutes, it beeps because its not connected.... So F******* annoying. The few times it has worked it was great. Update: installed the app update in hopes that some issues got fixed. But nope, it's only gotten worse. Now it doesn't work at all.

For something that is for professional driver to keeps us from getting tickets or shut down this garmin system need a lot of work sometimes it works fine but other times I'll get the red ring while I'm driving. It lags a lot, randomly disconnects on its own, and at the beginning of my day I have never gotten a full 8 hour. It's always 7 hours and 59 minutes. Also when you stop it takes several seconds before the app recongnizes you stopped to input a change of status.

Excelent Interface. So easy and intuitive. Only problem is blue tooth pairing. I never have trouble with least 5 other devices like a speakers etc. BUT with this device I have to try 3 and 4 Times to pair. Sometimes it doesn't pair at all and i have to disconnect it from the vehicle and go to paper logs no matter how much I press the button and put it in pairing mode.

Bluetooth won't connect to my tablet anymore. This is unacceptable! I would give it zero stars if I could. Your updates have turned this into JUNK! I have been using this ELD for over a year now and have next to no issues with it until now. I purchased your ELD because it had the capability to connect with my Garmin Dezel, which it does nicely. You say this is FMCSA approved, I highly doubt they would keep you on the "approved" list knowing it has a major glitch. What are you doing to fix it??

Only real gripe about the app, is that it will not work right if its running in the background. Eld device will beep at you if phone screen is not on and on the app. Wish the app had fuel record functionality, for guys like me that prepare monthly ifta reports. No prompts to describe your status changes for fueling, pre trip, etc.

one of the cheapest and unreliable app. super hard to edit when you forget to change the duty status. it disconnects while driving and keeps beeping whith red flashes. when you go a little away from the truck with phone, you have to mannually log on every time. it does not connect automatic. one of the lowest quality app that Garmin ever made. stay away qnd dont put yourself in DOT violations risks.

Every time an update comes out, I have issue. This time it says I'm connected but it won't show on my logs. Been having issues since mid November after the update. But didn't matter since I was on vacation. Went back to work in Jan and could not make it work. Using paper since. On 2/13/2021 got a DOT Inspection a since I'd been on paper for more than 8 days got an out of service. Got the port on my truck checked just in case and its fine. Yea, looking for a new device.

This elog is becoming more and more problematic everyday! The adapter doesn't record daily mileage properly. There is no way to certify your off-duty logs which is required by the safety regs. And when you call Garmin support, they just read off of what is written on the website. They're no help AT ALL! This elog is very disappointing. I AM CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR SOMETHING ELSE.

Horrible waste of money, nothing connects like it should. seems to require you to log in every time you get in the truck each day which takes even more time. This system has never worked and just makes an alarm sound every time I drive. way too complicated. I need a paper backup in order to drive.

I've been using thin air which is subscription based. The only thing it did better was had 14 hr clock. Also the Garmin app is counting on duty time against 8hr drive time(b4 break I know it's 11 total). New rules it shouldn't. Haven't tested if will use on duty towards break but doesn't look like it. Also haven't tested how it handles 8/2 split or if recognizes 7/3 split at all considering it new guideline and doesn't seem to be recognizing new one.

Can't edit or add entries as the time says it's invalid when entered correctly, when adding records it only has time no date, no forgot pass option for admin, or way to change pass, ect. Really :(!!. Sending it back. Zero tolerance for Idiocracy.

Constantly disconnects after the latest update. There's no way to phone support, so we have to wait for email to hear back. That's unacceptable for an Elog device and service. Edit: this app is the worst piece of trash I have ever had the displeasure of using. I can think of no worse product of any kind that I have ever tried. Avoid this Elog at all costs. Nothing is worth this. I will never buy a Garmin product again.

This software does firmware update on 9/28/2020 and it will not be able to maintain connection with your android device(phone). After 30 min driving down the highway, it will lose connections and is no good. Bought another one, does the same thing. It doesn't work...

This is a very weak system. I have used different elog apps and this is by far the worst. I have a fully updated newer phone and yet still have a difficult time connecting to the device. It sometimes takes multiple restarts of my phone before i can get it to connect. There are also no HOS cycle rules for states like Texas or Alaska within the app so i am constantly being bombarded with HOS violations through the app when i am still well within my regulations. I would recommend staying away.

Very easy to use once you get the hang of it. I still have to figure out the yard miles settings. Otherwise, great ELD for the pricepoint.

Easy and efficient to use

This App, wow.... junk. simply put. The Bluetooth connectivity is in NEED OF WORK! Especially when unit gets warm from being under dash. Yes, ive tried our other devices with this app and connectivity is still a huge issue. If we are ever audited and fined because this Self-Certified ELD.... OH BOY WILL I MAKE IT PUBLIC

Had no problems with bluetooth connection until the recent firmware update. Now my phone only connects to the elog adapter for a few minutes then disconnects. Then it wont connect or pair after that. Please fix this or revert it back to previous firmware. I cant use the elog now. ---------------------------- 7-31-20 Bluetooth issue still not fixed. 8-24-20 Bluetooth still dusconnecting, and it is also messing with my headset. Plz reverse the firmware update. This is dangerous while driving.

it works great, but you still haven't incorporated the option for the ones that are ag exempt, where you can go 12 hours consistently without a 30 minute brake, if it had that no complaints! please update! haven't used it waiting on this update to it!

Complete garbage. The eld would not stay connected to my phone, so I bought a garmin dezl 780 and guess what!! It won't stay connected to it either. What a total waste of money!! Thanks garmin for making a useless eld, app, GPS, and taking hard working peoples money! I'll never own another thing that carries your name. Hopefully this helps other people before you waste yours!! Also, user interface on the app sucks, its laggy and takes forever to change duty status. Get rid of the latest update.

since I've done the last couple of updates the app runs very slow. I have to wait about 10 seconds before I can change duty station, those 10sec. add up after a while and count against my drive time.

First ELD I've had. Took about a week to get used to. Would like better instructions/video, and direct link to videos. For a non subscription compliant eld, I think this is the one. Will be pairing with the dezl 785 truck gps w/ forward camera and the bc35 backup camera to consolidate devices/brands

I use Garmin aviation products. So the bar is high. They have missed it with this eld product. Connection issues, location issues, on and on. Looking for other systems that are smoother operating.

Bluetooth Connection is a Fail. Garmin, you're trash!! This is the second elog I've bought from you that hasn't worked properly. I even bought a new tablet with hope that it would improve connectivity but didn't. To top it all off your support center and contact center are nearly impossible to get through. FAIL FAIL FAIL.
