I was expecting some nice looking changes with this upgrade, but the new app went backwards 10 years. The user interface looks awful and doesn't flow well. Anytime there is an text input box, it is covered up by my phone's keyboard so I can't even see what I'm typing. The app used to switch to a numeric keypad for depositing a check, but now it doesn't. I also don't like how the transactions are listed, it was much easier to skim through on the old app. Please bring back the easy and clean user experience and interface from the old version, it was light years better!

I have to agree with everyone else, this ap is slow. I don't know why they changed it. There's also an unnecessary number of clicks between every option. When I complete a transfer, rather than taking me back to the account page like the old ap did, it takes me to a transfer page that has no buttons. Just a big "transfer" picture. So then I have to again click two buttons just to get back to my accounts home screen...also in the old ap, when you viewed all currently running apps to switch between them, gate city would be just an image to protect your information. Now it shows everything when switching between the aps. I just wish it was faster and more user friendly, less clicks. There weren't problems with the original ap..

Tons of latency and errors when hitting the Orange back button after drilling into a transaction. On the iPhone, if you do not use the fingerprint authentication you do not have the option to use it again after canceling. You have to log in with user name and password or close out the app and restart it. You can only view the check's, which was the whole point of this update, if you 1st hit view all in the transactions. The original or initial transaction list does not allow you to view checks. Over all, horrible update! Not user friendly at all. Takes longer to get into transactions and to do your normal banking and is a horrible experience.

Used to be great. They recently updated and now none of the buttons to make bank transfers work. The layout has changed to something called "ascend" at the top of the screen, and all the buttons under the drop down menu are unresponsive. Since their most recent update the app is only useful view balances. It's the same story on their website. Fix this gate city.

The UI in the old version of the app was significantly better. An opinion from being in the software development industry, the new UI is a step back at least 5 years. Also I'm asked to verify my identity via text or phone call every single time I login. I would like if the app asked to logout when I click my phones back button like most apps. Finally, on screens with multiple text boxes, when my keyboard comes up, I have to hit the back button to remove the keyboard to see the next textbox, there should be a scroll functionality in this use case.

After the first update ,it seems to be a bit faster, but pending transactions are not where they belong. At least on my phone they follow the date that they've been debited. They do not stay above the transactions that went through already. Some even disappear, then couple days they show up as gone through. Also username still does not stay, even if you check the square box. Guess maybe I'm too picky, still wished they never came out with this new app. Should have keeped the previous app. That one was very reliable.

Another terrible update to the app. The main feature I use, almost daily, is the fast balance. This last update apparently makes it so that you cannot see the individual transactions within each account from the fast balance window. Again, I can't imagine anyone would want that feature removed and it seems like a useless change to an otherwise good app.

My last review was rough but since the updates, my experience has earned the app 2 more stars. The user interface is much more intuitive and easier to use. The app is more professional and cleaner looking as well. Things keeping it from 5 stars are some of the images are still stretched or squeezed awkwardly to fit the screen. It would also be nice if the quick menu on the bottom was customizable as there are buttons on it i will never use. Faster loading times would also help get that last star

Bring back the old app, period! This new app sucks, right now I can't even get it to open. It takes more steps to make a transfer, I can't see pending transactions on my account like I could before,...the way transactions are listed is confusing and the amounts before and after each transaction do not correlate. Please just stop thinking you can fix this app and just bring the old one back.

I appreciate that Gate City is taking steps to keep my information safe by rolling out an app with upgraded security features. I think you can do more with this app on your cell phone than you could before, which is good. Only critique really is there were a few times I could not use my phones back button to get out of the menu. It seemed like I had to use the apps back buttons which kind of threw me off. Overall good app.

Slow. When trying to pay bills online you cannot just enter the cents, you have to go out and then back in to edit it to represent cents. Did I mention slow? Please bring back the easy to use old version. I have given this a week to get used to but I find myself getting more frustrated. Back button doesn't work, key board hides everything, bill pay has a confusing layout, also really dislike the withdrawal being in red (thought for a minute I was overdrawn) Absolutely dislike this new app!

The bill pay feature is not user-friendly. It does not contain a decimal point for paying your bills. The only way to make this happen is to click pay and then on the confirmation page back it up and change the amount of cents. This sometimes causes a double payment of which you don't seem to have any correction for. If this continues I will close my account with Gate City Bank

It's different than the previous app. The front needs to be fixed as it overlaps other portions of the screen. I didn't download the app until a day after everyone as I knew it was going to be extremely busy and overloaded, so I didn't have the slow losing issue. It takes some getting used to. I think it could have been tested more before it came out to decrease some of the minor issues. Which is my biggest complaint about any new app or website that comes out. I haven't tried all the features yet as I don't need to. So we'll see how it goes.

The old app looked way better than this. The old app actually LOOKED like an app. This just looks like they re-sized their webpage and added a couple functions. Very clunky looking. I was glad when I saw that they at least kept the function to enroll a fingerprint, however I can't enroll it. I fill out the enrollment form (Device Name, User ID, confirm password) and submit it, and I am brought to a page to enroll my device, with no button to redirect back to the home page. The only button on the page was to unenroll my "enrolled" device. I attempted to use the back arrow at the top of the screen within the app to get back to the home page, and it brought me back to the previous empty form (ironically, just like a webpage). The second time I filled out the form, I used the menu in the top right to navigate to the page which SHOULD list my enrolled devices. This page is blank, even though the previous enrollment page appeared to have submitted. Both times I closed completely out of the app to test the fingerprint functionalty with no option to use my fingerprint to log in. ~ UPDATE: I tried the fingerprint enrollment again just for funsies and it worked. What I believe was happening before was I was using the 'return' key on my keyboard, instead of minimizing my keyboard and using the button on the form. I have updated my rating to reflect this, however still feel that this is still way too clunky for use. I work in IT for a living, and have trouble using this new app. How is someone elderly or not IT-inclined supposed to use this? ~ TLDR: app is extremely clunky, acts more like a webpage than an app, and functionality does not appear to have been actually tested before the app was released.

This app is not user friendly. I'm constantly having to move the keyboard to see what's typed in each field. The app never remembers user name even if you check the box to do so. Navigation has to be done in the app (can't use phone's back button.) Overall, it's a major downgrade compared to old app.

This version is absolutely useless. I can't even log in because the session expires. I have no complaints about the UI because I can't even get into the app. This change was pointless. The old app was perfect and seamless. I guess the loading screen is nice considering I've looked at it for 5 minutes while I wait.

This app was the only way I would do my budget, check on transactions, make deposits...and I loved it. Started not working a couple months ago and after lots of frustrations I deleted it. Just reinstalled it to see if it had been fixed (the local bank said they were aware there was issues)..try to log in and bam, there was an error please call blah blah blah. Uninstalling again. Please don't try to make the App pretty by changing the background and make it work. Disappointed

Seems I'm not the only one who has troubles with this new app! Doesn't save your login info, the finger print will not work, you can't organize accounts or payments due. The back button is super slow when it works and pending transactions disappear and reappear. There is no easy search and it only loads a small amount of last transactions!!! I uninstalled and it sure I'll ever reinstall. Better off using the web browser

I hate the new website, especially the bill pay. The previous version was so user friendly and showed the the last transaction at first glance, this one doesn't and it's more difficult. I was really excited about being able to link accounts, but I can't even get it to link and I had a difficult time getting my the fingerprint access to work.

Feels like one of those apps that just redirects you to a mobile site. Busy layout not optimized for a phone. Sometimes you can use the phones back button, sometimes you have to use one they have added. The recent transaction list is poorly arranged, post transaction balances are lined up with the preceding transaction instead of the one they are for. Red text would be better used for just negative balances instead of transactions. Quick balance doesn't replace the widgets functionality. The main logo is low resolution and looks blurry/unpolished.

Extreme downgrade in functionality and usability. Very slow loading. Can see very few transactions at a time and have to go through many steps to get there. Keyboard is frequently covering text entry. I'm no longer near a branch so I may have to switch banks now if I can't stand the mobile app.

does the basics but keep the checkbook and stamps can't send memos on bill pay on app you need full pc version to do this. (ie can't send meter or other account info). started after upgrade which was loss of function and was brought to their attention and quickly dismissed. there are other ways to do this seamlessly "autopay"but you don't have your bank records backing you up which was the point! nowadays this is an very valuable asset and does come useful if it worked

this app has stopped working for me as well. I called the main line and they were not very helpful. It seems to have happened in the last two weeks since the last time I logged in. I made sure that my Android System Web View was updated. It was. I made sure that Chrome was updated. It was. Happening on my Motorola Droid. Very frustrating as I use the app for making my check deposits and I do not want to go to the bank during this COVID19 Social Distancing thing. 2nd time within two months that this app has gone haywire. Oh and when I go to the Play Store, it says that "compatible with this device".

This new updated app is terrible! Anyone with something positive to say must be an employee. It is not user friendly and is much harder to read. As others have mentioned you can't see what you're typing because the keyboard covers the screen and does not scroll. I never had issues with the old app! I live out of state and rely purely on the functionality of the mobile app. Might be time to get a local bank after 4 years living elsewhere. It's unfortunate that is the case because I really liked this bank.

Nice, easy, and clear to use app but the mobile deposit for checks is ridiculous. 3 out of 4 checks it won't accept the back/signature side picture. It has done this for months even with updates installed. Can literally take 20-30 pictures and it won't accept no matter the lighting, background, position, zoom in or out, etc. And this is with multiple check types and sizes, and trying on different times or days of the week.

At 1st I didn't like the new app. However, now that I have gotten used to it a little bit I like it. The 1st time I logged on after they rolled out the new app it only showed the actual balance for my account and not the balance after my pending debits are deducted. I noticed that now it shows both - makes it much easier if you're busy and only have a moment to glance at your account.

**Update** So however you feel about the new app gate city bank rocks my socks off. I pointed out a feature that I though was missing but turns out I was just missing it. Got a call from gate city to help me get the fingerprint login setup and it works like a champ. Then I helped 3 of my co-workers do the same thing. Nice touch with the call. The customer service keeps by business. Thank You! No finger print login or saving password?? Please bring this feature back. Never had to type in my password in the old app. Just finger print and go.

This app rarely works anymore. I see all the responses to bad reviews and even though they say "the issue is fixed" it never is. I'm on Android 10 and it hasn't worked in months, same with mobile browser. I have uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. Recently even had an overdraft because I could not access my account to see if a pending charge had gone through. I've been patient, but we are looking for a new bank today.

Better security features and it's time for a password reset. Glad they upgraded finally! The mobile deposit feature is much better now. GC is one of the best places to bank in the country...if you move outside of ND and run into chain banks, you would never complain about GC ever again. Don't use your bank app on open wifi networks...in fact, stop connecting to open wifi networks.

This app was great but recently... It's basically stopped working. I have to verify its be every single time. Plus - it's not recognizing my password! I've changed it about 8 times now because I thought I was going crazy - nope. Just the app. Online works just fine. Bring back the old app that actually worked.
