Ive had the app 3 days. I connected to my groundspeak account via settings. used today and liked the app but now it says setup complete and that my trial has ended. wont load anythibg else until i subscribe. Not even the full 'trial' but my impression was that membership wasnt to the app but groundspeak. I will have to uninstall and find somethibg else.
I have been caching for years and having tried many apps over the years recently came across GCDroid after testing trial version for a while I am more than impressed and decided to buy it. Great for offline caching, especially with offline map feature where all your caching can be done from the map screen. If your into geocaching with an Android this app is a must!
Sexiest Geocaching app in the universe, with the warm fuzzies of actually using the official API. In all seriousness, this has superceded functionality of c:geo without the whole scraping business. Easily see friends' logs, better management of offline databases (including a much better implementation of dropbox integration), AL icons etc etc. I've cached for 18 years, and I'm usually using a gpsr but this is now my app of choice for browsing, spontaneous caching and offline database management.
Pretty good! Dev responded quickly to an issue I had, greatly appreciated. Many nice features (I bought the Pro), but one feature that is missing that I use alot is the ability to add/remove a cache to my watchlist. Solid app.
Revised Jan24/20. Paid subscription, changed rating. Not worth paying for. Not user friendly, upload on logs and finds unstable, does not upload /update Geocaching automatically. TOO clunky. Stay with other apps. Also, like others, does not need the permissions access it wants.
Great product and super support! The off line databases make it possible to make your own collections of caches, for instance after selecting with GSAK. I have a seperate database with Waymarks. The import of files from Dropbox works like a dream. (I do have the pro version.)
I have been using GDAK for a long time. As it does not use API anymore I had to choose another app for GC. I found this one. It is quite good However, I cannot understand why I cannot set the map folder on my own. I have only three fixed possibilities. I would like to use the offline maps together with other apps. And currently the last thing - I use flags to mark the cacehs of my interest in my GSAK database. However, these flags are not visible in the app.
Cacher since 2006, recently discovered this app. Great integration with GSAK and Dropbox for GPX files. Backed by the Groundspeak API so changes to the site don't break the app. Extremely happy with the app and would recommend especially for power users.
This app is functional and does what is promised but feels like a clone of the official app with a five dollar pricetag slapped on top. The map lacks polish and isn't smooth when zooming in and out also you can't view other user profiles without leaving the app and, as far as I can tell, it is impossible to view other peoples logs on your owned trackables via the app. The app could greatly benefit from working with other caching sites like opencaching. Overall it is a good app that needs polish
wish it had a few more options of lonely caches, and to filter out caches that other people have found. maybe it is there and I have just not found it yet, but it is a good app for offline caching.
Works well. Like the interaction with OneDrive as I work with modified gpx files so can easily download the ones I need.
Having switched from the official app to c:geo and then to geeoh go and been in aww with their bits and bobs, I found GCDroid, let me tell you, this app has everything c:geo has, better map update speed (which is a huge is a huge problem for me) then geeoh go. This app is definitely worth purchasing to support the developer(s). Keep up the good work.
Won't let me create an account even after trying different emails. One email it said I already have an account, which I don't. And when I tried to do password recovery it said email does not exist in any known accounts
I like the FTF information when they first come out and the maps are really good also. I look at this App everyday to keep me inform about the geocaches that i want to get. A very good app to work with. Thanks....
This was not a good app. You have to pay to do anything. I'm new to this but if it's just a money fraud I want nothing to do.and free trial is a joke you give them free trial to what download your s*** on your phone and take up space probably no thank you this is a joke all I could do was look at a map with my. Of where I was at
Have loved using this app but all of a sudden the descriptions and hints have disappeared, as well as the link to the cachepage? So weird and no update to fix this!
That's a well designed app, but without description and logs, what's the point... I understand that's a requirement from Groundspeak. They want people to use their own app. But we would not be looking for another app if their app was showing all free caches
Can't get to grips with this app. I maybe using it wrong but when I want to navigate to a cache I don't want to open Google maps. How can I contact you to ask for help? I love the look of the app and have paid for it. I would love to use it properly.
It's a good app but we now use another app which offers more for less. I guess it's all down to personal experience. Follow our Geocaching adventures. Search 'Geocacher' on YouTube.
Best Geocaching app for Android. Not much else to say, I've tried others but I just keep coming back to GCDroid. Simple yet allows me to do everything I want.
Love it; but messaging no longer works for me. Also I used to see thd actual coordinates I was at plus the cache coordinates when on the compass...seems to be gone now.
On its way to becoming one of the best geocaching apps. Less of a hassle than c:geo, and way more friendly than the official app.
I looked for a free app to load - got 15 - day trial without cache descriptions because I am only a Basic geocaching member. FALSE ADVERTISING!
Easily the best and most dynamic Geocaching app around, and still evolving and quickly adapting to new features in the official API.
We have been using this for a few years now and still think it is the best Geocaching app we have used. we would recomend to any one. 👍
Free 14 trial version AND still cannot read hints (need to buy premium). Official app atleast showing info/hints/etc for level 1 caches - this doesn't do even that much.
I like: clear satellite maps, displays wapoints, reasonably accurate, cache description pages include my personal notes. I don't like: if the mobile doesn't have data, caches & maps must be opened at home to read maps in the field. Ways to improve: make the maps truly offline as some other apps do, include an owners manual. Because of the lack of reliable offline maps, app may have limited value on a trip unless one has wi-fi, but could be valuable around home. Will I pay for it? I'm not sure.
