It just works. I came from the RootsMagic app which never worked properly on either of my last two phones. This program just does what it claims and so far does it well. It's a read only app which is fine. I keep my full tree on my computer but occasionally need a quick look when responding to email.
Looks neat but fails to show images unless I manually create a .zip file from the Gedcom and all my media (as per GEDexplorer Help). My desktop software (Family Historian) can create a Gedcom with embedded media files but GEDexplorer apparently cannot read it. My old app, GedStar Pro - not updated since 2018! - can show the images just fine. Very disappointing.
Can't access any of the views (tree view, etc.) Need to search for an individual and then select them. Then the tree icon appears. Help menu needs to be amended. Great response fron developer, though.
This is a beautiful app and the developer was quick in responding to my initial question. I created the family tree in Windows and exported to a GEDCOM file which, as promised, the app supports.
Tried 2 versions of my GEDCOM file. Claims a error each effort. One was created by MyHeritage and the other orginated with that file but was modfied to work with Wikitree.
Program hangs frequently ! It would have been nice if there was a photo view in the tree .
Wow! Great for viewing GED files on my phone & chromebook. Very easy to use.
I love this app but cannot get it to display the images that should be embeded in my gedcom.
Limited to one GED file. I need to have access to multiple genealogies. Otherwise it probably is an acceptable app.
After purchasing and downloading, I can't find it on my Amazon Kindle 8 tablet. I really want this app so please advise or refund.
Update: Figured out how to get GEDexplorer to work on my Note 10 Plus. Nice app.
A simple way to view your family tree offline, it's great
Nifty little app that works well!
I wish this had a plain, old, vanilla pedigree view!
LOVE the circle ancestral chart. It's fast, too! Worth the small fee. Author very responsive to bug submittals.
I have tried all of the GEDcom viewers and GEDexplorer is the best by far.
Still exploring but good so far 😊
Seems fine. Google asks if it has "useful notifications". Thankfully I haven't noticed any so far. If I do I'll be sure to block them like I have to with all the other apps.
Edit: Followed the instructions in the Help file and supplied a path prefix for the images. They display now. Did not have to do this before! Earlier: What's gone wrong? I was very happy with this app but suddenly, after an update I assume, it doesn't display the linked images. I have not moved my data, the gedcoms and images are in the same folder they were always in! I hope you can get this fixed very soon. Everything else seems to work the way it did before.
