Just downloaded the update today and the app won't start and has an error message indicating "request taking normal than usual." Great. Now nothing works. And it doesn't appear that I can uninstall the update. More garbage from the Genesis app division🤬
This app is absolute trash and that's putting it nicely. I'm going to trade in the car just based on this garbage programming. Start putting the remote start and features on the remote where it belongs.
The app works pretty well I suppose but it's rather shameful my 2019 AWD G80 will be cut off from all these services by the end of year. Yes I know the "fine print" warned of that but a $50k+ purchase should have a fix since the car will only be 4 years old.
UPDATED REVIEW (after improvements) : Remote features still too limited for spending 50k+ on a car and charging an additional yearly fee for such a basic thing as remote start. I like everything else Genesis is doing, but charging a yearly fee for something as basic as remote start for a car like this doesn't sit right with me. Make essential features like Remote Start included with the car, and charge a premium / yearly fee for additional premium remote features, and you'll earn another star.
Haven't been able to get into the app for the last 3 days. Before that, it wouldn't connect to the server at least once a week. Great car but the app isn't reliable at all. It's supposed to be an extension of the car to utilize all It's features but that's not possible. Very disappointed with this app. Same day update: Not that I should have to, but after I uninstalled then reinstalled the app, it allowed me to log in and use it.
App started off great in April of 2021. Then crashed for the last 6 months. I uninstalled and installed app again. Looks like it works again. Not sure why i had to reinstall to agree to terms and conditions to prompt. Its overall a good app and like using the remote start.
For those whose apps are still crashing, reinstall the app and that should fix the problem. I wanted to give to app a higher rating, but reading the responses of owners who used the Hyundai app, the Genesis app need work. Especially for a luxury brand. I love my car and I hope the brand continues to excel, but the app ecosystem definitely needs work.
I commonly love everything about my genesis but this app and the navigation in my gv80 have both been giving ridiculous issues. The app keeps saying it's having errors when sending addresses to my gv80. Then my gv80 keeps trying to navigate me as if I'm already 3 miles away from my current position. This vehicle costs wayyyy to much for these long lasting issues.
The remote start doesn't always work even when other features will. Very strange. There should be more features such as opening the trunk, windows and sunroof. You should also be able to activate the heat and cool seat controls since it's a monthly fee.
What's the deal Genesis? There is no remote start on the fob so this HAS to be used. Yet, it seems like beta. If the car isn't locked and send a start cmnd, lock the damn car! It takes nearly a min to send then get a response. Then repeat, waiting another minute. All while you're trying to leave. It's still a toss up if it starts. And you have to start it every 4 days or you can't remote start. So when traveling, start it and let it run in a lot every 3d waste gas and the person trying to park.
App won't even open now?? It's not very useful anyway. Only to start the car. The delay is so long too. 2018 G80 sport and I can only do climate temp & front defog. Can't turn on rear defroster heat/cool seats or anything else. I am VERY glad I'm not paying to access this app. I'm sure getting a refund for it would be a massive pain, if not impossible.
The customer from Puerto Rico can not login to the app, and the local application version don't work either. Why we can login to this version?
I can't access the alert settings anymore. I received a prompt to download the app to my car. The button to set geo-fencing and a timer when the vehicle shouldn't be in use disappeared from the display.
I usually use this app for remote start so can't really speak to the other features. Half the time it doesn't work. This is the same on my old phone as well as my brand new one. Basically just a gimmick. Just put the remote start on the key fob and be done with it.
Just downloaded the app. It works. Just a little slow. Right on time. I need the auto start feature. Overall, it's a good and convenient app. Thank you Genisis.
App was crashing but after removing and reloading it worked just fine. While I don't like having to use an app for remote start, it works pretty well.
It's annoying that I get prompted for my credentials before I can start my car even if I just entered them to get in the app. Other than that, the app is nice and works fine.
Since new update. Unable to load app, keeps crashing. ********* Have to Uninstall and reinstall. Works fine once you do that. ********* Wish the app had the option of turning on heated seats like the Hyundai app.
App crashes every time I have tried to open it in past two weeks. Useless to have remote start during winter if the app won't work!
Loving it so far. Sometimes it says that the connection has failed but it remotely starts anyways. Other times it says its connected and it hasn't.
Most recent update doesn't even load the app. It crashes immediately. Previous versions were slow but worked. Please correct these issues asap.
2 stars because of the "concept". Such a great idea. It can work so much better. Requests take so long to be sent to and received by the vehicle. Usually it is "unsuccessful" in receiving the requests. Other vehicles like BMW and Volvo have perfected the app and interface with the vehicles. Needs much improvement and I'm looking forward to it.
This rating is only for the remote start feature. It is horrible. Only works maybe 10% of the time. Messsge says the feature is unavailable. Support staff told me the problem is with the Genesis cellular provider, but the problem occurs everywhere, so that doesn't make sense to me. When the 3 years are up, I definitely will not subscribe to the service.
Neat app when it works. As others have started, can take a long time to connect. Other times I have stood 5 feet from the car, received server can not be reached, or car is out of range. If 5 feet is too far away makes the app quite pointless. I really hope they can improve and make the service better. A much faster reliable connection would make this a great app. Phone had full bars still encountered issues connecting!
It is very basic, very slow, and intermittently does not work. Genesis G80 is an awesome car and loaded with features, but app is very much not loaded with features. Usually takes 30 seconds or more just to communicate to car, whereas Viper app works in about 2-3 seconds. And then there's the times when the app just doesn't work at all. Giving 2 stars only because I'm on 3 year free service, but afterwards will be solid 1 star.
A good solid app, I like the start with ac controls. I like how appointments. The older version would give departure time based on current traffic conditions, which was nice. One major improvement for ease of use would be to use the link feature within Google maps to push to car. Currently I have to copy from gmaps and paste into genesis app. This is not convenient.
Generally good. Can set things to happen when remote start (heated seats on, defrost, etc). But app is slow to get the message to the car. Expect to wait 30-60 seconds for sure unlock or start. The ability to retrieve pics from the camera is cool, but wait 2-4 minutes. Sending destinations to the navigation is awesome and works well. Make it stop! It shows my upcoming meetings from my calendar. Why? I have a calendar app on my phone so this is just annoying and I can't turn it off!
