Genius — Song Lyrics & More

It's annoying because it's been a few months that the app keeps crashing, for no apparent reason. First I didn't get the lyrics as I listened to a song, it was kind of annoying but I mean, I could always look it up you know? But then I can't even open the app? Or if I do succeed it's because I've tried several times already. I feel like this app is useless because of how unstable it is, now I have to open genius in my browser. It's a pity because I really like this app, please fix it :(

I love Genius as a platform, but the mobile app is pretty bad. Recently it won't work at all; blank white screen on my Galaxy S6. On my Nexus 6P it's slow to load and the searching is finicky, often claiming there are no results and I have to click the search button again or re-type it for it to get results. Edit: 2022 and it's still awful. Constantly logged out of my account. Practically unable to edit. I don't have an iPhone so I won't compare the experience.

The android app lacks a lot of features that are on the iOS version of it. No lyric card or annotation option for example. Having had the app for more than 4 years now, I expected the features to trickle down eventually but it seems the android version of this app has gotten close to ZERO attention besides the occasional "bug fix". Even some options, pages and articles end up taking you to the browser instead of just opening in the app.

AVOID IF YOU WANT TO EDIT. Limited in what users may do (certain types of links to other parts of the genius website don't function and unable to edit certain types of pages). No way to get rid of ads, which cut content in weird places and eats into data and battery like crazy. Glad there's no premium version of this app as I'd be upset if I paid to remove ads and still couldn't use the app as one can use the website. Hope they create an app analogous to the website one day.

The search is frustrating af. I try to search for a song called "Awaken" (by Yes) and for some reason the entire discography of NLE Choppa (songs that don't have a slightest resemblance to "Awaken" in the title) pops up. Why? Also, dark mode works awful. The lines with explanations are displayed as light gray text with white background, making them barely readable. ALSO, the app often doesn't work and tells me I have no internet when I clearly do

Absolutely terrible. It's supposed to be an app that shows you lyrics for songs, but how is that possible when ads cover up half the screen? The amount of ads is ridiculous. Another thing, it seems that every single time I go on to the app my songs are deleted.

Don't get me wrong the app itself is great but I have a problem with the screen turning black everytime I want to read annotations in lyrics. I always have to restart the app over and over again. Please fix this

Great lyrics and discussion. Great notifications, except the Genius app doesn't always start automatically with your music app. Unfortunately it is supported with ads, and there's no option to pay to remove them.

The website is good, so long as you have effective ad blocking, but the app is a cpu/battery hog. Every day I get a notification on my phone of high cpu usage (20%+) for this app and my phone recommends force closure. Did I mention that happens when my phone is idle and the app is closed? Yeah, not a good deal. Avoid.

Genius is awesome. It identifies music; provides lyrics; provides information regarding the music and its authors; can navigate through albums and songs. It looks and feels nice, and works fast. It is at times incomplete; the UI can improve; it uses a desproportionate amount of mobile data without any apparent reason or obvious way to prevent it. I would recommend it, if you're fine with an application using your mobile data with nothing to show you for it.

the app is not bad, i like that you can even search a song that's playing to find out the name. Now, there's been months in the app with the same problem: sometimes you click on the lyrics and the app goes blank, it won't let you go back, it won't let you press anything, nothing, you have to force shut and open it again.

Phenomenal app for rehearsing song lyrics. I like to sing to myself in my room, and Genius helps me to do so easily, and clearly. It allows to me search the name of a song, artist or album, and find a song of interest, and then learn the lyrics of the song. Overall it has helped me learn alot of lyrics and has even helped me to be more confident with myself and my capabilities as an autistic person. I love this app and will continue to use it. I recommend it if you like singing songs.

Pulling up lyrics in any moment is mind blowingly useful. Only wish more than complaint is ive noticed other apps id a song faster, but i trust that will improve with some work, or industrial espionage.

Came looking for an alternative to your website because im sick of the "featured video" covering the screen - this apps ads are just as bad and theres no option to even pay for ad-free.

Good publishing for clarity of lyrics; although not all of them are correct/missing parts. Overall, a good app for song lyrics.

this app is amazing,it have literally all of the songs lyrics and it doesn't have ads and the best part is that there is an offline list🤍

Absolutely brilliant APP, definitely the best APP for song lyrics, song information and other information relating to the artist / band / writer.

Cool app, sure would like to use it. You can't annotate on mobile whatsoever, and I don't have a working computer which means I can't do it at all. I see zero reason why such a basic feature should be blocked off to mobile users. Seems like this has been a request for years and yet somehow it hasn't been implemented yet.

Great for learning the lyrics you have been singing the wrong way for years! Also to get insight to what thoughts lie behind the words.

I dont know why, but for a decent time now, the app runs with like one frame per second on my phone, making it terrible to read any lyrics

Great app. I've used it for years now. But with other apps getting better updates, i feel like Genius is "falling behind". Im an artist and i constantly add or correct lyrics on Genius. It would be very convenient if you considered a Genius App for artists or allow the current app to add lyrics and not only on a web browser. Kindly consider this, would really be of great use. Thanks.

Genius is a really good app But I have so many issues with it like whenever I've viewed many lyrics, I have to keep pressing back many times before I get to the home page, so I think a home button needs to be added...And why does my notifications take eternity to load

I really like this app and it's features, but it used 69% of battery in a day without even being opened once. I've put the app in deep sleep mode but it still uses so much battery in the background.

This app is great for deep dives into a song and allows for input from the community. Great app does what's intended.

In 2022 there's no reason that I cannot annotate on android. I been rocking with genius since RapGenius. I'm now an independent artist. Wish the android app would include the full Genius experience...

Ok so I liked the lyrics and annotations ir provided But there is really something wrong with the app It was using insane amount of background data And draining battery while in the background Other users can check their data and battery usage and see if they have the same problem
