Good, but used to be able to customise notification sound/vibration within the app - recent update appears to have removed the option and tries to direct you to do it within phone system settings themselves, which older Android versions can't do. I'm not going to buy a new phone just to keep up with app updates.
A great way to get alerts and notifications about earthquakes and volcanic events in New Zealand. GeoNet provides a great service. The app doesn't operate perfectly, but it's very good, and there's always their website, which has more information, eg, about older earthquakes etc.
Never had any problems with the app - as long as you know data on recent quakes will change until final values are ascertained and don't get all worked up about a 7.2 becoming a 6.8 etc, it's an invaluable and reliable source of instant quake info!
Great app and service but I'm unhappy with the current notification rule settings. We can have wishy-washy weak, moderate etc in a region OR specify a magnitude/depth everywhere. Seems we cannot say eg notify all 4+/any depth in Wellington region. Also I too would rather have a few falsies than wait for a duty officer to vet things.
Getting updated before anyone else is peak performance. This is where it's at. Alerts kn the spot, up to date and 100% reliable information and updates. This app does not need any improvements
Works good. Straight and to the point. Just need quick access to earthquake information. No complications or dramas. Good graphs.
Great app for those who care for details about our rocking n rolling country. Unfortunately the app doesn't seem to work on Android 9 on Samsung Galaxy phones. I'm sure this will be remedied with an update.
Could have said somewhere in the description this was only really useful for New Zealand, to save anyone from elsewhere the bother of installing then uninstalling the app.
Absolutely love this app. Accurate and informative. I check it daily for New Zealand earthquake and volcanic activity. I get alerts/notifications. News comes through almost instantly when earthquakes occur.
Have used this app for quite some time and found it extremely good........until the last update when the app went from a 5 star to a 1 star. Used to be able to check tremors just after they were felt, not now. I used to recommend this app to friends. Now I am looking for a new app to. Moral....if it ain't broken, don't fix it.
Really handy app. As a kiwi overseas with family in Wellington, being able to customise the notifications so I get alerts about big quakes that could do some damage is reassuring for me. Everything works for me with no bugs too. Simple as bro.
Love the updates. However updates need to be colour coded so at a glance we can discern whether the alert is an emergency (&what level?) or just an item of interest such as an article. Gratefull for the app, cheers peeps 👍
Enjoy occasionally feeling a vague tremor in our old house - and then finding yes! A nearby minor quake. (We have one painting that acts a sensitive seismograph... off level = recent tiny tremor)
Used to love this (android) App, but been having issues with push notifications for the past year at least. Have uninstalled an re/installed again today. Fingers crossed.
I already had an App. for Earthquakes, but was advised to try this one. It is far, far better than my last one which has now been discarded. When in New Zealand I witnessed an Earthquake at my hotel and was able to get all the details from the App.
Very good app, much more convenient than going to the website from the phone. Good presentation of data and other information. Thanks to developers for the app. Also a big thanks to GeoNet team at GNS for their work in providing timely data.
Great and very useful app. Notifications and alerts all work as described. Great that it has specific data for New Zealand!
Very good app with information on all felt earthquakes, plus many not noticed. Using this app keeps you updated on what's going on in the unseen world of natural disasters big or small in New Zealand.
Helpful. Notifications get a bit spammy tho, risk of missing something important when most of the time you open it to articles.
Turned off notifications for news reports. Still get them. Cannot have option for different sounds for notifications. Would be good of could so could tell civil defence stuff from other notifications.
Would it be possible to display the map on the map view as I'm getting all the pointers as to where the quakes have been but there's no map in the background, could this be fixed soon? It's not just my phone it's also someone else's tablet
Did what it says on the can, elegantly and effectively. You can set the app to produce alerts by region and intensity of shaking, and it accepts your 'felt it' reports and displays them nationwide.
I've had this app for a number of years not just on my phone but on my computers as well. Aside from the fact that we have very few apps to choose from on this title it is very good and I rate it very highly indeed. My only criticism would be that their is no coverage in the event if a tsamuni. Otherwise I highly recommended that everyone have this on their phones and computers. In the country that we live and the events we have had, you'd be a fool not to.
