Extremely poorly designed app. Keeps crashing during sign in, randomly gives errors of 'unknown error', does not show you the status of your subscription and whether or not you are signed in. You may get a confirmation of subscription on your email id, and then when you go to the site it'll tell you that it doesn't know what your email id is. You feed it in, and it'll say there has been an unknown error. Wired talks a good game about technology, but walks it pretty badly.
Tried to link the app to my subscription. There is no guidance to locate the account number on the mailing label. Even so, tried different possibilities with no joy. Tried the option to link by mailing address. Entered the address exactly the way it appears on the label and it still couldn't find it. The Feb issues (Wired 28.82) arrived today. Looked for a way to get customer service... who am I kidding? Nada.
No digital edition. It should have the full digital edition in a straight forward way. Instead I have to hop around between topics to hopefully maybe see everything. A digital edition starts with the magazine cover to cover and some additional content. This is the opposite. Not at all as described or promised.
Articles are easier to read than in the kindle edition on mobile, properly formatted for the small screens. Logging in doesn't do anything (it remains an option asking for user/password again, every time). Can't save or mark articles as favorites or to read later. Can't share articles. No way to get a link for an article. You end up copying the title and searching for it on the web edition to get an url to share, which kind of defeats the purpose. Samsung S20 ultra user and wired subscriber.
It seems impossible to download the current issue or any other issue, so should you wish to download this month's at home and read it on the train or bus in order to save money on mobile data, it appears you are out of luck. therefore a subscription cost what is advertised plus the data cost s. I hope they fix this and I have sent feedback in case I am mistaken, but that does not appear to be so. In which case I will cancel my subscription. Without that option it is frankly a waste of money.
Like other users mentioned, I subscribed to both print and digital version for 2 years however the app would not sign me in, it takes the creds and then does nothing. Articles are hard to find, its just free version on the app. You cant find digital copy of the printed version. Disappointed.
Sign-in doesn't work, no information provided why. Generally the app is designed without much thought put into user experience. Disappointing for a tech magazine.
Can't log in and use some basic functions. If a company about technology can't support a basic app what else does that say about there dedicated to what they write about. Cheap and outsourced to the lowest bidder. I'll just wait for the snail mail edition to arrive and view the hard copy content.
You can't access the digital editions in an easy way. You can't see the magazine covers and their content in a clear way. Never had this kind of subscription experience.. it needs to be significantly improved.
Can't view digital version of the magazine. App is just like viewing the RSS feed... Logging in may get me access to a few more articles, but not really different than the web experience. Not recommended. Uninstalling.
Registration for users sucks. 3x loop. I input correct name and address. but app doesn"t recognize it, then asks for account number. No mailing label or account # on the print magazine. You think tech company could do better. I uninstalled the app. Forget it.
For the most respected digital magazine, they do have a pretty bad reading experience. There is really no way to read the magazine issue on Android: the Google News experience is quite terrible.
I'm an Android user and this app has never worked for me, I can't sign in. I had high hopes that once I got an upgraded phone it would work, but alas it still doesn't on my Pixel 4a. Please fix, I love the content!
This makes no sense. A tech magazine doesn't have an easy way to access their magazine via android. You can't get it here on this app. Only way I can find to get it is with barnes and noble's app... which requires payment again... guess I won't be renewing again.
App is fine, clean, and easy to use. HOWEVER it turns out that Wired is yet another politically biased platform that has no need be politically biases. I just wanted to be up to date with tech, not trickled with more politically leaning articles, and I don't care which side of the argument it is. Very disappointing.
Cannot log in. The sad part about Wired magazine, one of the great chroniclers of the technological developments of the past 20 years is that it has been purchased by a white knight publisher that may have saved it from financial ruin, but at the same time incorporated into one of the most technically inept and backward media houses out there. The app and the reviews here are the proof.
The British app version of wired is unusable. This US version is beautiful. Someone needs to tell the British users to come over here because the reviews over there are really really bad. Magazine subscriptions don't transfer. UK office doesn't have a database of the US, and vice versa.
I'm having trouble canceling my subscription. These are like mafia methods to get you subscribed and then make it impossible to unsubscribe by sending you into a loop of click here links. Update: An email fixed the auto renewal but the site suggests you can click a link, sends you to a maze instead
Very buggy. Though I have a digital subscription login, I can't login to the app either with Google or with my email and password. Kind of negates the point of buying a subscription for the digital access
Tried to log in using my web account information, the app didn't accept it. Made sure I was logged out of the web portal, tried the app again. Still didn't recognize my login. Made this review. Uninstall is my next move. Why would you even have an app if you couldn't see all the Web content anyways? Dumb.
Slow and laggy. Scrolling has a significant delay, unusual for a mostly text-only app. will go bavk to reading on the browser. Login to paid account worked contrary to other peoples feedbacks.
I own an ipad and a Samsung tablet. The ios version of wired magazine is spectacular. It also downloads the magazine for offline viewing. This android app is a version of the website, which I do not need an app for, and it won't get my signing in to stick. Will take the paper magazine for offline reading. Shame.
Signing in doesn't seem to actually work. I downloaded the app mostly in hopes that it would provide a convenient way to read saved articles from the website but no luck there.
I'm a fan of wired and its content subscription, but this app is dreadful. The text scrolling is delayed quite significantly and ita painful to read. Please make this a priority to update. I'm using a Google Pixel 2.
I love the content but this app is incredibly basic - view only. Sharing, saving, or otherwise getting articles out of this app is not happening - wish that it would do what every other reader app does.
Keep logging in, and it doesn't recognize my account, even though it says the password is accepted. Also, I cannot share articles with other apps, like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, or Whatsapp. Very short-sighted.
Unable to login. When I enter my sign in details and press the sign in button, it takes me back to the home page as If I've been signed it when in reality nothing has happened.
Not sure what is happening to this app but I am unable to login using my google account. It just says something went wrong. I have reinstalled the app to no avail.
Most frustrating experience... With my most favourite magazine. Humongous disappointment. Tried EVERYTHING no way to connect on this app, therefore I can't download my subscriptions. Now, my VISA has been charged and my Apple Pay. And I can't connect. 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
I entered my username and password, hit the check mark, nothing happens. No word message, no log in, nothing. I subscribed because i was already reading the articles online without a subscription but I wanted to support the creative staff.. At some point, the articles started being limited so for months I have not been able to read more than three. I try to get digital access and the interface does not work. It is frustrating paying to show support and then not be able to use it. Frustration
