It's absolutely amazing. Even the free version is super useful. It has a lot of interesting and useful ideas summarized from trusted sources such as books so it saves you a lot of time. I love it and I definitely recommend it to anyone
So while I liked the idea of this app, ultimately it falls short. The app itself has subpar navigation is sub-par compared to say ebook and podcast apps. Also downloaded audio often hangs requiring a restart. On the content. The 20 second service preroll ad is insulting. The summaries vary a fair amount in quality, insight and editorialisation. The last of those is the most frustrating. I noticed this most on summaries of books I had already read, leading me to worry it happens often.
Had previously issues playing the audio past 1 minute, as it would freeze with the screen off. Turned out to be Samsung's "Smart" optimisations that decided to silently deny the app to run on the background (You can fix it by going to the battery setting of the app and enable to run it in the background). Content wise I really find the audios from getAbstract really interesting and inspiring. But exporting to MP3 is broken, and yields just a 1 or 2 byte MP3 file (Not a deal breaker for me)
The audiobook function has a few bugs... The play bar on the bottom of the app doesn't function on my Samsung Note 10+. Also, having the ability to control the audiobook from my notification menu would be a great feature. The content is great though... Look forward to the improvements 👍 I will revise my rating once these bugs have been fixed.
Edit: getabstract got back to me. They were apologetic and efficient in resolving my issue. I even got a discount and a free one month use. They have gone over and beyond and I'm very impressed. Thank you!
best book summaries and easy to use userinterface
getAbstract is quite reputed organisation with lot of shiny content , thanks to those who made this golden content for viewers. But it is unfortunate that your application is not upto the mark as per your image. I have encountered on many occations that it does not responde despite many clicks. Even there is lack of energy and ease in your app, appreciate guys if you upgrade your app and make more responsive and energenic, rest is fine.
This app would be great... If there wasn't three more like it & at least two of them have more available before paying for premium that is suggested at ever tap. But great selection of materials if you get premo, actually better then the afore mentioned. Also menus seemed slow or choppy. Lastly exellent name.
I really like the app. However, for some reason the highlight feature does not show anymore when selecting a text. Is there a limit on how many highlight texts I can have?
Very good and very well-written summaries. High quality selection of titles. Good, simple website and app. Would highly recommend to any struggling to read full books but is curious to learn new ideas.
Great app - didn't even realise it existed, as always just used the website before. Lots of material to choose from and love the fact that I get a weekly abstract in my inbox which I would not necessarily consider choosing/reading.
From 18000+ business and personal development books... Probably only that selection... Couldn't find what I was looking for: skilled trades. Instead just lots of books that want to tell me how to think. No thanks. Great titles available for that genre though, but I've read them prior to looking here (I.e Stephen Covey, etc)
Very useful and tons of amazing & detailed book summaries. Love it.
Great place to get insights from the myriad of useful books and articles in a short time which would be overwhelming for any individual - especially for the professionals- to consume in a limited time.
GetAbstract makes it easier for someone to select books, videos, or articles that you want to indulge in by reading its summary...or you can also just read them and still get its awe-inspiring details. Kudos!
Very useful application for books summary in a very condensed way
An incredible app that abstract books from 500 pages to almost 1 or 2 pages, in order to save you some time in your day. In fact, there are many people who claim that the review or the summary have been more beneficial than reading the entire book.
Nothing works in offline mode, nothing. Even when online, the app is clunky, slow and overall outdated. The service itself is great but this app is useless. Use the website instead.
It is well organized and there is a fantastic variety of summaries
Great subscription. Find it extremely useful to learn things fast. Was upset earlier with change in subscription plans. Overall great app/service.
Similar to Blinkist, this app compresses the messages of a whole book to 📚🗜️ I like it a lot, as it saves time, I get the key points in much shorter time.⏳⌚ Highly recommended 👍🏼 😀
It was a very thorough and articulated brief on the subject matter. I enjoyed my experience fully. Highly recommend.
Excellent assortment of summaries with lucid and clear analysis of the subject. The only qualm I have is very high yearly cost.
getAbstract is a great tool for my business as well as my personal growth. Very short summaries introduce me to though leaders in a variety of areas. When I find an area worth pursuing in more depth I buy the book or purchase the audio..
The audioplayer of the app doesn't work for me - I always get the error message "The request timed out", other audio apps work fine on my phone. Navigating within the app is also quite slow, seems like they have some kind of performance issue with the backend server. I really like the idea of the app, but with the aforementioned issues, the app is basically unusable.
