It always had problems loading. "Can't load previous messages" "can't load contacts" " can't load profile" that's basically all I can do, read error messages... This is supposed to help us stay in contact with loved ones that have been incarcerated. It may not mean anything to you all, but this is some peoples only way of comunicating with people on the inside. Please fix the stability of this app! I've used multiple Internet sources and updated all software. But still nothing loads!

I deposited $10 into my account and $10 into the inmate's saving. I can see how much I have on my side, but after making a deposit to the inmate's account, it's impossible to view her balance. When sending messages, don't bother to format them neatly. GTL removes all formatting and line breaks and squeezes everything into one long paragraph. Very difficult to read if your are sending a table of items organized into columns or a list. Very primitive app.

Horrible. I always get an error message. "Can't load contacts at this time" can't load profile at this time" Here of late I haven't had any of my current contacts show up; the app is asking me to add contacts and to get the gtl visit app. The messages I do different paragraphs so its easier to read and when I go back to look at the msg it's all jumbled up into ONE big paragraph. Please fix this. This is the only way I can speak to my family. I have uninstalled and re-installed and it.

The app is incredibly slow, very hard to edit your message and overall frustrating. When you have a monopoly on the only app that you can use to text an inmate, that kills the incentive to improve the service. If there were another app, I'd be using it! I really can't complain about the texting rates...5 cents per message is pretty reasonable for on-going access to your family.

Terrible interface. Operation is confusing and disorganized. Some steps of the process had to be done on the app, some on the web interface. I added money to the inmates account thinking that would let me send a message. You actually have to add money to your "families and friends account" to send a message. Not sure how I even got that to work. Just clicked every button I could find until I got something through. The service being provided is important, but this app is garbage.

The app does not work properly all the time. Sometimes the tablets are malfunctioning, none the less, the amout of conversations I have been able to have with my love has been well worth it! I love my man and the distance has been feeling a lot less with the extra calls. One or two calls on the wall phone compared to being able to talk back to back for 2 hours, worth it!

I got the app, created an account, and can't deposit funds. I get all the way to the end and it tells me the same thing every time on a blank white screen, that I'm unable to make deposits at this time. I call the 'customer service' number, no service, just an automated system that goes by my state and not the state that they're in, and it's absolutely impossible to get an actual human being it goes so painfully slow. I have NO way to reply, or let them know I'm trying to add funds. 😡🙄😡

This app is glitchy and rarely works but it's the only option we have to communicate with incarcerated loved ones. It will close abruptly or not load contacts or payment information or messages. It will display messages out of order. It doesn't save drafts of messages either so definitely write your messages out in a notes app and copy paste them into this. Additionally know that when you deposit money for an inmate it can only be spent on phone and messages not commissary.

The new app is horrible. It crashes constantly, is super slow, most messages dont go through. This upgrade has made communication a thousand times harder. And I thought the last one was difficult, I'd gladly take that one back over this one. What a waste of money, sending the same message over and over again trying to get it through. Complete garbage. Please fix this!

Better design, more user friendly and easy to navigate, but when I recieve a text it only displays the first sentence. When I click on it to read the whole message it does not display anything, but an empty screen. This is very frustrating. I never know what my partner is saying to me. Also, during video calls the sound quality is bad and his face keep freezing. Fix these issues please.

Awful since update. Dropped from 1000 characters to something like 500 or less. Can't see what I typed - can only see one line of text at a time. Lost all old messages. Don't update this app if you don't have to do it. Terrible UI and what were you thinking? If you are going to grab more money by lowering text limit, at least provide a usable UI and save old messages!

Of course this is an AWESOME option to have in order to keep in touch WHEN and IF it works. It's truly hit and miss. Messages won't send and you'll still be charged for them on both ends, the app won't work for days on end. I'm still waiting for messages that were sent from my friend to come through 5 days later, and vice versa. Great option, but super flawed and I'll be calling customer service for a message refund.

The new app looks cleaner and is easier to navigate, but that's pretty much it! I get annoyed that you literally have to login every time. It doesn't have notifications making it even more annoying to have to login every time you want to check for a message, and now instead of 1000 characters you can only send 500 so you literally only get half the characters for the same price! Definitely not cool considering how expensive this stuff is to begin with.

If I could give this app -3 stars, I would. It used to run so smoothly and now it's complete trash. No notifications of messages received, having to log in each time the app is opened, message length dropped down from 1000 characters to 500 (but still charging the same $.25 per message sent), no character count, and you can only see one line at a time when you're typing. Honestly using the website is easier. This is the worst update to an app I've ever seen.

I think the fact that this app exists in general is AWESOME but it definitely needs some system work/bug fixes. It crashes often and I have to uninstall/re-download to get it to even work. Pictures are never approved, no matter the nature of the image, and you still have to pay for the "pending" messages that never get approved. Very frustrating.

This app was terrible before the update, but it's complete garbage now. There are no longer any notifications, nor settings for them. Every time I send a message, I have to accept the terms and conditions again. It takes forever to load (when it actually does), but most of the time it just freezes up. My GF says it's the same thing on her end. I opened 4 tickets with customer service about all of the issues, they responded today, one month later. Problems still exist!!

There are a few things frustrating about the new app. You have to sign in every time you open it, it takes a long time to load messages, but most importantly there is no notification when u receive a message. The first thing you should add is a notification, otherwise u wudnt have to continually open this app to see if u have a message and deal with the other problems. Please make adding a notification your number one priority, this would take away a lot of the other frustrations. Thanks

I have this installed on both an iPhone and droid. It is a great app when it works and I'm very thankful to have it available. . About a week ago, a forced update began causing the app not to work properly. Messages cannot be input or sent, but they can be read if you close the app and open it again. The photo icons aren't clickable either, however this will be a great feature when it's working again. The 'visit now' connects just fine and really appreciate that! If a developer, by any chance, is reading this review, I hope you're able to fix the last update so the app works again for messages and photos. If I can install an older version without a forced update, please let me know that work-around.

Like many other complaints that people are leaving mine is the same!. You cannot use the app to send messages. It just does the spinning wheel thing and the only way to send messages to the person is to use the website but then you cannot send photos on that anymore because it says use the app. But the app doesn't work to even message the person back. I keep hoping for an app update that will fix the issue. But it doesn't look like it.

This app often is unable to send picture messages. It will charge you for messages that sometimes the other party is not able to even see. Login has tons of glitches. And sometimes when you are adding money to an account that can take up to 1 full hour. Or longer. And then you might as well try again another time. It doesn't allow for the inmate to even file a complaint to get their money back added to their account when messages don't send on their end. Not user friendly at all.

Newest Update made it worse! Before the update at the end of February I would receive a little app icon notification when I had a message. After the update the app does not allow you to stay logged in once you close it so of course, it's not going to notify you when you get a message. This is so frustrating because not only do you have to go in periodically to check and see if you have a message, but your login credentials don't save so you have to rewrite them every time! Please fix this!

There tend to be more issues than there are positives. I have to log in every time, my password and log in are no longer stored with Samsung pass after the last update. There are times where I cant get into the app for hours, or messages dont send but the money is still taken for them. I like that the messages are back to 1000 characters and you can send pictures right in the app, but that doesn't help me today when I have been able to log into the app since 4am this morning.

This rating is strictly for the app. I'd rate zero stars if possible. Can't login through the app. Looking at other reviews, I don't think it's doable. I have to click on the link in my confirmation email- thankfully my phone is set to save usernames and passwords- that's the only route I've successfully logged in through. ALSO, it would be helpful it there were a way to put money on the inmate's side, so they can even receive the messages. If there's one already, it should be easier to find.

Updated with downgrades... the updated app took away the character counter, your ability to see your entire message while typing & before sending. It does not allow for a notification sound/alert AT ALL. It does not allow for multiple threads to keep conversation topics separate. It requires you to sign in each time you access the app although you never logged out. There isn't a setting function within the app. It may look great but the functionality of it isn't an upgrade at all.
