Ghostly SMS
This app listens for incoming SMSs, saves them as fast as it can in an internal database (not the INBOX) and shows a notification.
If you see a "ghostly notification" from this app, but not from the stock SMS/MMS app (check screenshot #2), you can open the app, read your lost message and -if you wish
- you can move it to your INBOX to store it or reply to it.
If you don't want to move it to the INBOX or if the stock SMS/MMS app didn't lose the message (check screenshot #1 and... good for you, by the way!), you can safely delete it from the internal database: no message from the INBOX is EVER deleted.

If you lose your donation information (i.e.: you reset your device or you move to a new device) just open the app, hit the "Menu" button and select "Donations". The app will synchronize with the Market and restore every donation you made.
Permissions:
- SMS permissions are needed to write to the INBOX.
- Read contacts is needed to show the contact name in the list.
- Internet/Network is needed to show Ads. No other network communication is done.
- Billing is required for donations.

This app catches lots of missed text messages. I was going nuts when I started to gradually realize that I was missing many messages, but I was loathe to get a new phone setup. I did lots of research to figure out what was going on -- stupid bug -- and was so happy to find this app! It works totally fine for me, no problems. If it weren't for this app, I would not be able to reliably communicate with my kids when they're out and about. Huge relief!
I do not recive some texts from random people even when my spam filter is off and person who sent me text, recive delivery raport . Few minutes ago app caught message that didn't show in my inbox. There is one tiny minus. It catches also messages from inbox....but it's ok. I'm really glad it works because my network provider couldn't help me 😬 ORANGE sux!
Brilliant antidote to Android Messages' 25% receive failures! Unbelievable that Google cannot create a reliable messaging app that simply receives SMS messages. Since Oct 2017 their app update has broken what is an essential service (sms) and in three months they have done nothing to fix it!
It's absolutely OUTRAGEOUS this is needed on ANY device in 2017. But none the less, it IS needed and I'm grateful that it's still around and available. Google maybe stop playing tiddly winks with the CIA and deep state and instead fix your f#$@ing products for Christ sake.
With this app, I've caught quite a few texts that I would have otherwise missed. Not really sure what the issue is Lollipop's stock messaging app, but Google really needs to get it together.
Mostly works as advertised. Would love to see an MMS feature as well. Not sure if it is possible, but also a feature to force messages to reread the message database
It catches missed texts, but it advertised that I could move them to my inbox, however, it asks If I want to make it my default app. When I say no, it doesn't move. There would be no need to move if this was my default.

This is my life saver! I've been missing txts ramdomly. I installed this two days ago. I retrieved 30 missing txts with this app so far.
Can't seem get 1 that works. Works sometimes. I am trying this. If good i will edit my review & purchase. Android 3g Motorola. Update 8/31/16. Had since 2013. I donated on other ph and just did it on new ph. $3, but still ads. Cant understand. Dwayne- Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
It only receives the messages I've already received. So I still don't get some messages or I only get then an hour later. The ideas good, but it does not work for me in any actual way hoped.
I sent a type 0 ping to my target phone which this app didn't even detect it. A type 0 ping is a silent SMS that does not display in the SMS folder but it is packed with data telling the target to send back network position.
This app did not work for me. Judging from reviews, it works for others. Give it a go, you can always uninstall it.
It's sad that Google has become so sloppy that this app is necessary, but it works and solves the widespread Android SMS missing text messages problem.
wow! I witness this app doing what it claimed to do, it caught texts that for some reason won't show up on your main texting app.
Recovered quite a few texts already and I've only been using this for about a week. Those leaving one star reviews about the app's request to be the default messaging app obviously should have at least tried hitting yes. It only switches to the default messaging app so it can move messages, after it moves the messages to your primary app (in my case GOSMS Pro), it immediately prompts you to switch back to your primary app. This app saved me from having to return my phone. Many thanks to the developer, you saved me time and money.

App does not catch all text messages. I have messages on my messenger app and this app did not detect them.
It worked for me. How is this bug still a thing?! SMH.
Having sent my S3 for repair twice and getting ready for a 3rd time I thought I'd try ghostly sms in case it would help with my lost text message issue. It's amazing. So far 10 messages I would never have received were captured. I'm not sending my phone away now. I just use the ghostly sms to make sure I never miss a message again. It's fab!!!!
Awesome app for what it does. I get all of smses, but love to be sure in case if anything would ever go wrong. + I like to keep kind of backup in case if someone would delete any of the last messages I received... But, once there are a lot of them, I miss search filter, to delete only from certain contact / all except certain contact/-s; I also really miss the option to "Ignore all except" instead who to ignore; I'd like to only keep this ghost messages of a few contacts... Update anytime soon?
I'm losing a few texts a week on my Nexus 5x through Google Android Messages. Ghostly has worked great in receiving my lost messages. I can't move the lost text to my inbox because I won't make ghostly my default messaging app so that's really inconvenient. Ghostly's interface isn't that user friendly and the text are sequential, rather than by person so it doesn't work as the primary app but it's helped a lot.
