This is an awesome game but.... The controls are f**king terrible. When you continue it resets the controls to standard. In virtual pad mode, which is the only way to play properly, jump and shoot buttons are way too big and the pad control buttons are too small, the pad is half way up the screen so it's too high. Make it so the game pad is customisable and can be saved. Then it's 5 star. As it is, once I hit the castle it's unplayable. I was a master of this arcade game in the 80s. I could clock through 3 times on a single game. I know what I'm talking about.
Just keep in mind your buying one of the hardest games ever made on Nintendo and your going to be playing touch screen controls . That means it's going to be close to impossible to beat this game. My reason for not leaving a 5 star review is that my virtual pad controls selection from the pause menu resets to Type A controls everytime I get game over. So everytime I start a new game I gotta always go and switch the controls back to virtual pad control. Not a big deal but a little annoying.
I've played this on a Samsung J3 Mission. The game played well for the first week I've owned it, but now the emulation cuts off half of the screen horizontally. I love the game but I've found no way around this glitch. I cannot recreate the conditions because I have no idea what happened. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the game but the glitch remains. 4 stars due to this glitch.
Great game with achievements and leaderboards. But the developers lie with wrong screenshots of the d-pad and jump buttons. The layout is a joke. You need to duck often and instead of pressing down there is a seperate button which is slightly off to the side. Same with climbing ladders. Game is timeless and an all time great. Just a shame they cant get a dpad right.
I downloaded G & G and was instantly transported to my local bowling alley, 16 years old, punching the hell out of the buttons as I spent night after night, dollar after dollar, conquering this game. The opportunity to relive those times, MANY years later, on an app that is virtually identical to that original console, is hugely exciting! Thank you very much! :)
Great game, however, I'm pretty sure there's a bug.. half of the screen is blacked out! When I go from base level to one higher the screen doesn't pan up with the sprite!! Im so conflicted because it does play well, but I spent my hard earned money on something that, unfortunately, can't be played right.:/
I got bit by the nostalgia bug and bought it immediately. While the emulation seems perfect, there doesn't seem to be support for a bluetooth controller. I won't refund since i bought my NES copy second hand. I'd love to give my money directly to a developer but this needs controller support.
Don't get me wrong, I love this game. I give it one star because the touch controls are badly implemented and the game crashed 3 times within a matter of minutes. I would love to be able to play this game on my phone, but this app is unplayable in it's current state. At least it's on the Switch. Refunded immediately.
Unlike other classic 8-bit and 16-bit games ported to mobile devices this game is actually fair and plays very similar to the original game. The controls do not get stiff. I never finished this game in my youth, but with the advent of mobile gaming I was finally able to finish this game.
Ten points to the developer. Identical to the arcade version almost 3 decades ago. The buttons/ control panel getting use to but other than that wow. What memories it brings. My two favourite arcade games ever were Rygar and Ghost 'n Goblins. Worth it's salt!
Accurate port but not mobile friendly. The developer didn't really put much consideration into making the controls friendly to mobile play. It's basically the original game shoved in a box.
Great game! Controls are tricky. My bluetooth 8bitdo SF30 Pro Gamepad works with most of my other games but not this one. Please add input device/controller compatibilty. Will make it so much better to play. Please resolve for more stars. Cheers. 😉🤞
Terrible. The screen is totally blocked by the controls so you can't see what's happening in a lot of the gameplay area. And it never remembers your preferences, so you have to enter them all again at the start of every game! Don't bother with this. Waste of time and money.
Beat on Android and nes. BTW, the game is a 2 part series meant to be interface to its siblings story it would seem. Like fighting bhall from Diablo 2 but only with the first run being fully completely finishable as a better trap Imo, fooled me.
Loved original years ago. Had this on commodore 64. Bit too easy to die and not any lives so constantly have to start it over but controls easy to use and gameplay a good representation of original
Just how i remember it but it's pretty difficult using the touch controls, is there support for a joypad? Last time i tried i could only jump and fire so useless. Need full support for me to enjoy it properly
Not too bad of a nap but I don't give a full starts cuz I hit the controls inthis game not to mention I do not like how I could not hook up Bluetooth controller up to it which is the way I prefer to play my games on my phone but I had no choice but to use the controller that I already did not like on the screen
The original game was difficult enough. Screen controls are useless for this type of platformer. Please add controller support and I'll give you five stars.
So close to being a perfect mobile port... just wish there was controller support and maybe you could move the screen a little more to the left and rotate the other way
lol all these people complaining about difficulty it's like they've never played a capcom game XD....Excellent port controls are fine and the addition of casual mode is good for newcomers and the nostalgia is far worth the price!
It good, it hard like original, but most importantly it fun. Only issue always have to change controls because they auto reset
Good Emulation, Bad Controls. Why can't the on screen controls be turned off? Why doesn't it support game controllers?
well its a gpod port and game itself, but i when i climb something the top half of my screen goes black which makes the game impossible to play... fix or refund please. thanks
The best game ever made. Take no notice of the controls. I've completed it loads of times and saved the princess .best game so shut up
it's awesome, and extremely difficult. My only complaint is that there is no volume setting. Other than that, really cool.
Sometimes you gotta tap the screen more than once to do what you want and all in all it's a fast pace game and that hurts especially in a crucial moment
It's a good conversion / emulation but the on screen controls are awful, and why doesn't this game support a controller?
My favourite arcade game from the 80s. This is the first decent version I've seen since. The catch is the controls are dodgy; eg. there is a left and a right arrow for direction but the left and half the right arrow move left and only half the right arrow moves to the right. It gets more of a problem the further you get. Also too much lag especially on jump. The jump and fire controls obscure part of the right side of the game screen but this is a platform game so you can't see what's coming.
