Download the app
1. Connect to the Giant-Eagle-Guest Wi-Fi network in a participating store.
2. Scan your Advantage Card. We require permission to use the camera on your phone to scan your purchases as you shop.
3. Scan the barcode on each item as you place it in your cart or enter the PLU code on weighed items.
4. If you have weighted items, use the Scale Station in Produce or Bulk Items or go to the checkout lane and weigh your items on the scale.
5. Scan the barcode on the Pay Station to transfer your mobile order and check out.

We have used the app successfully several times at the Monroeville store. Overall the app works well for us. We have used it several times without any problems or glitches. On one occasion we were unable to begin shopping with the app due to receiving the error "unable to connect to the shopping server." It's easy to scan items, remove an item or do a price check. The only aspect that we found somewhat confusing was the process for weighing and scanning produce. When finished using the scale we must press 'cancel' in the app which feels a bit unintuitive.

Great app when it's WORKING. The first several times I used it there was no problem. But last time I had connection issues like I see many of you having. I'm going to uninstall and reinstall and hopefully that will help. But connection to the WiFi is definitely an issue that makes it useless. Again, it's WONDERFUL other than that.

Worked flawlessly. Easy, fast, painless. When I saw the reviews for the app I was a but skeptical but it connected to wifi without issue, scanned faster than I could have ever wanted, and check out was a breeze. How they connect the items you scanned yo the register by just scanning another code was one of the best parts and really made the experience a great one.

It used to work until it was updated to try to handle the wifi connection automatically. If i connect to the store wifi on my own, its not smart enough to detect I'm already connected. If i disconnect and let the app handle it, it fails to connect and gives me the option to exit or retry. There is no option to continue past this or use cellular data, essentially rendering the app unusable. I'd rather handle my network connectivity on my own, as I'd do a much quicker and better job than the app.

Simple and easy to use. You are required to have a giant eagle card to use the app. There's a bit of false advertising in the name of this app, bc there's no pay function. What this app does allow you to do is scan your items without you having to scan them in line. You still have to scan one last time at the counter, but then you can pay and go. Best way to use this app is to byo bags and while shopping, bag your items. Does need a better way to identify and remove items from the list.

I've never successfully been able to complete the final transaction with the app. I've tried multiple times to scan it at our shop's check out station for this app and it never works. I've been using the app I my cell. I am going to try one final time with a device they provide. It makes me sad because I would love this if it would work properly.

When it works, it is great! I have used this scan and go app, at Giant Eagle, on six separate occasions within the last three months and the system only worked flawlessly 2 out of the 12+ times. Losing in-store WIFI connection, while shopping, is the only common factor in the 10+ visits where something went wrong and a supervisor needed to swipe their card so I could proceed purchasing my items. I understand supervisor's having to approve an alcohol purchase, but I wasn't purchasing alcohol.

The definition of "junk". It can't connect to the Giant Eagle WiFi in the store (tried two stores), and it will not accept my Giant Eagle card (tried two cards). Customer Service in the store is baffled also. I had an open case with support for over a month. They called me, but when I was not available. They did not try to call during a time when I could work with them. Played phone tag a few times. The last call I received from support was the old "cannot reproduce the problem" excuse. Bottom line the app doesn't work and support doesn't work with the customers.

The app itself is fine. The problem arises when you get to the checkout. More often than not, I have had to wait through a "random audit" of my transaction. For a program that is supposed to save time, it fails miserably. No time is saved if the attendant has to come over to do whatever they have to do to get the transaction finished. Couple this with not being able to pay with, or get, cash on the transaction, and things go further downhill. I will not be using this app again.

I have NEVER been able to use this. The day I downloaded it it wouldn't connect to my card so I couldn't use it. After that everytime I open it is says "connecting to wireless network" "action timeout, retry". I don't understand why this can't be rolled into the other 2 apps I already have for giant eagle. Honestly I don't understand why I need more than one app for Giant eagle at all!

The app simply does not work. I connect to the guest Wi-Fi as instructed and then it disconnects itself from the Wi-Fi and tells me I'm not connected. Well I was before it disconnected me!

So do ya'll at GE look at these reviews? Tried giving this an honest try two or three times. Either 1) an item wasn't recognized, 2) the app froze and/or disconnected, or always 3) would prompt the register when it rarely worked for an employee to come over and start scanning multiple items (like, what's the point then??). Two words for ya, 'fix it.'

Firstly, the app does not connect to the store wifi. Secondly, that checkout station cancels the main purpose of it (time saving). There should be an option for pay from phone; scan it, checkout, pay from phone or take it to the station if you can't afford a card and carry cash.

Works just fine for me. Would like to see the addition of being able to pay for the goods on the phone before leaving. Maybe something to implement for customers who always pass the audit a set amount of times? Another bug bear is the staff was not trained on how to conduct audits. This is a management issue. You cant expect your staff to know what to do automatically, you need to take time to take them through new software. Just because they work on the floor doesn't mean you can ignore them.

Haven't used the App but I tried in store and when I tried to scan my card it kept saying "unable to authorize". Customer service said I had to call the 800 number so I did the next day because it was Sunday. I was told that because I had 2 bounce checks (that I paid off when it happened) over 16 YEARS ago, that I wasn't ALLOWED to use the scan pay and go! Wow! I can use it at any register though including self checkout but not in store shopping with the scanner. What a bunch of nonsense!

I have an old phone with bad wifi reception and the app worked flawlessly. However it's pretty annoying to scan and bag your own groceries at the expense of an employee who might need the job. But whatever we are living in the future.

Time saver. However would not give it five stars. This is because I'm not sure if Giant Eagle is being paranoid or poorly designed the app to where you need to have location services turned on in addition to being on the Giant Eagle guest wifi for the app to work.

This app or their mobile server sucks..... It's plain horrible. Used to work fine but now never connects and can't use. The last time this did this, I uninstalled and reinstalled and it worked. Now, I've tried everything and nothing works. Fix this or stop advertising it.

I work at giant eagle in Dover Ohio and we are learning how to use the system. Although you can't look up your card on it, it is easy to use once you learn how to. Audits are conducted for 1 out of 10 people and for people who have a giant eagle card. While some may say this is annoying and doesn't make things quicker, it is for us to check for shoplifting.

If you don't have your advantage card physically present, don't waste your time, even if you know your barcode numbers. That's half an hour of my life I can't get back. Why they didn't pay to have this system integrated to use my giant eagle login is frustrating at best. Obviously cheaped out during implementation.

I have my Advantage card on my phone. I haven't had a physical one for years. The app won't accept the barcode/account # that I use all the time on Google Pay. Connecting the app to the GE WiFi took several tries also, only to find out it didn't like my card #

As others have said this app won't connect to any Giant Eagle store (I have 3 in my area). There is no way to contact the developers to let them know about it. This app was Giant Eagles last chance with me. I rarely shop here because the items are expensive compared to Wal-Mart and Aldis. Good bye forever.

Scan Pay and Go the idea and execution with the store-provided scanners is great. App won't connect in a store that definitely has the network (Settler's Ridge), and is thus totally non-functional.

app refuses to connect to a wifi I am already connected to. The few times it did ( out of more than 20 tries) the camera wouldnt focus to scan anything. real great app -_-

I was already used to using the handheld scanner, so this was pretty easy because the interface is the same. Now I don't have to juggle the scanner and my phone!

Not my app for Sure, causes Google to be very slow to respond. Some other apps freeze and require frequent reboots. Uninstalling now again just use the store scanners.
