I'm not sure why so many people seem to be having trouble w/the app. I've been using for over a month and no issues connecting via chat or the contents. The coaches are quick to respond and super helpful. The coaching I've received have been professional, thought provoking, and challenging to help me grow personally and professionally. There are a mix of content for visual and auditory learners. Lessons are brief, yet good.I'd recommend using voice to text than trying to type on phone keyboard.
Feedback on the app and the service. App: low quality and not user friendly. Typing is on the phone, the slowest way to communicate. Given the appt is always timeboxed, this wastes a lot of time, compared to typing on a laptop/PC. The very serious connectivity issue. I have no connectivit issue with all the other apps/games on my phone and during a 30mins chatting sessin, I was disconnected and stuck in "connecting" for over 10mins, not exaggerating.
My coach has become a trusted confidant and helps me balance my extreme workload. She has helped me take simple steps to care for myself that have made it possible for me to take on a very stressful job. The app just needs a landscape option so I can chat with her using my keyboard.
The coaches aren't available as noted on their schedules, so you have to keep adding coaches and explaining your situation, making the experience wasteful. There's no follow-up. Making appointments within the app. is very difficult. Poor support and high cancelation fees.
For someone that struggles with anxiety and depression, I was happy that Ginger was available to me for free through my medical insurance. (Kaiser) Ginger has been a great addition to my mental health support. I'm able to text my coach anytime I need to and have a set appointment every week. Coaching is new to me but I've learned to love it and pair it with my therapist. There are lots of great tips and guides that may help one through the day or if you need a little boost.
Ya, not a very great experience with this app and service at all. I had a coach assigned that kept putting off our first meeting. Also, she kept dismissing our chat time. Kept trying to make an appointment for when it was more convenient for her. I thought we would be able to chat with anyone, any time we needed some emotional support but, that was not the case. Very disappointing. Don't recommend.
Seriously!!! This app and the help I've received from it through coaching and reading has changed my life.
It's nice to have someone to talk with. Schedule is convenient, even on weekends. It's free. Positive support to help me get through the week. I recommend the app.
2+ Years Going Strong...I have been using Ginger to receive support for managing my mental health for almost 3 years. The staff have been wonderful and I have never had any troubles with the app. I have a better doc/patient relationship with my doc on Ginger than I do with my PCP because I know that my concerns are being heard and recognized.
The resources in the app are exactly what you need. The coaches are very supportive and extremely helpful.
The therapists on here are great but the support makes it useless. Multiple times I had appointments cancelled accidentally. When I would reach out with any questions it would be hours to receive a response in the "instant" chat and emails would go unanswered for weeks or not at all.
Warning for members of Kaiser Permenente! I have been struggling for months to get therapy appointments, waiting 2-3 months betweeen sessions, which is unnaceptable. We have not been able to work on anything. I recieved a email from Kaiser about this app, believing I could get help between my sessions. The coach told me this is not therapy and I will need to contact Kaiser for referrals for therapy. So if Kaiser's subpar mental health services are failing you, you are out of luck.
Trash text based coaching is built into everything and their customer support is nonexistant. What a waste of time
Absolutely horrid experience. Irresponsible and unprofessional considering people struggling with mental health issues turn to this app. Booked an appointment on the app and the coach said, "This is the end of my day so can we do this another time?" Um, this is the time Ginger assigned BOTH of us. Felt like I didn't matter. Deleting this app.
App is a little buggy at times: no notification when there's a new message, it notifies me but there ISN'T a new message, slow load, app doesn't function the way you'd expect out of a messaging app (no time stamp, no option to copy and paste the entire block, etc.). ALSO FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAKE A WEB INTERFACE SO I CAN TYPE ON A KEYBOARD. Otherwise, the coaches have been extremely helpful; each has a different style. I can honestly say my life has improved since using this service.
I was recommended Ginger as a substitute for in-person therapy as my options locally were booked for months. My insurance (Kaiser) covers a certain amount of video sessions. The app itself is buggy at times & does not work well on iPad (I use my android phone instead). The coaches and customer service chats have been solid, though, and the therapist I see has been great. You do have the option to request a new coach/therapist at any time. Overall, my experience is good, technical issues aside.
This service should be available to every professional. It is very great to be able to reach someone that is neutral for any aspect of your life. The app could be improved but overall the quality of the coaches are great. Issues I am getting: - notification are doubled and lead to the signups page, hence useless. - the calendar to schedule appeared once and cannot find it anymore - need a web interface because phone to type is a chore
After entering the access code provided by my employer, set-up was a breeze. I was able to schedule a session with a coach who had a profile picture and in-depth description about who they are and what they specialize in (which helps if you're nervous about texting strangers). So far my conversations with the coach have been extremely insightful and helpful! The library of articles are also informative and encouraging. I'm scheduling virtual therapy next, and I look forward to it (:
Very clunky user experience that lacks utility. It's not easy to find my coach team and start a conversation, or potentially request time with any coach who happens to be available. All scheduling is word of mouth and there's a lack of an official scheduling feature with reminders, etc. In addition, user profiles are a list of menu items centered around payment.
I have Kaiser, which covers services for this app. It's absolutely something everyone should take advantage of. Even if you don't get a therapy appointment soon (2-3 weeks wait), you're given a coach in the meantime who will work with you (only through text on the app). The coaching is high quality, personal, and 24/7. Areas of improvement: being able to type on a keyboard (website access), being able to share PDF/files with coaches
The idea of this is great, but I think they are still figuring things out. There is real time contact with service - which is very curt and almost rude, given that we are patients with possible mental health issues. Further more the desire to be helpful seems lacking. I feel like with more training this could be a great app connecting people to therapists, coaches. One last thing- this assumes you are doing it through your work since only work provides insurance
They trick you into text based coaching subscription where you won't get video appointments. Video appointments are different which has very limited availability and very different to get an appointment
A great app to have, even if the notifications are glitchy sometimes. There have been a few times where I wanted to talk through a very negative unexpected event, but didn't have anyone else I could reach out to at the time. Even if your main coach isn't available, they'll always find someone you can chat with to help talk things through and help you put your thoughts in order. Sometimes it's nice to have an outside perspective on a difficult situation.
Has helped me connect to doctors and get the support I need to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Pros: The app itself is very smooth and responsive, I wish more companies would make their app as responsive. Cons: The Service. I met with a therapist who decided that they were not qualified to help me and booted me from the service. When I asked why, it took weeks to finally meet with someone who explained that the level of care they provide is extremely minimal. This service is great for those with MILD cases of anxiety, unfortunately anything greater, trust me, don't waste your time.
Clunky, long response times. Not suitable to a work environment.
This is great. It really helps me release my feelings out. I'm so glad the company decided to add this to our benefits
So far my experience with this app has been great. The coaches offer tremendous support. Whatever you're going through, this app can help see you through it.
Not really useful. Seems like if you don't have any problems then that's fine but as soon as you need help with anything you have to schedule things out days ahead of time and then the coaches don't really wanna message you or anything. I've scheduled maybe one session successfully and we talked about work stuff, and it was mainly all very "cookie cutter" type advice. (Make a pros cons list, try grounding exercises) typically not advice I schedule things days in advance for.
