It kinda neat but everytime is sends me a notification you cant bring it up in the app making the notifications useless. I keep reading about options from the app in their emails but they arent in the app. So they have a lot of stuff they need to fix which is expected I guess with something so new. Update oct 2020. I have tried to order their custom vitamins several times in the last 6 months. But it just won't let me. Transaction went through finally. And then they send me a refund - 1☆
Informative content but the extras are prohibitively expensive to most. I agree with a number of posts around the difficulty of syncing 23andme data across. Update: initially rated with 3 stars. you get at least one notification each day and I want the app without notifications. Happy to return this review to three stars when I can keep the app installed without any notifications. Update: claimed I had must enjoyed a free 3 month trial and gave me the option of a paid subscription. What trial?!
There are a lack of options on this app (and importantly the website) -- like updating payment details, exporting data files or deleting data files imported from elsewhere. This is not just my own experience. In the UK we have strict data protection laws, and so this was initially a bit worrying. However, it seems you need to use customer support for these issues, hence me updating the review with a little more positivity. After receiving an email response today they say they have deleted my account and data and I appreciate this. I am going to remain hopeful that more features will be available directly from the app, and importantly from the website, for those of us who favour the old-fashioned way of doing things. The actual idea is a good one, it just needs better implementation, and as such I wish them well.
I love this app. The free version was quite informative. The paid version exceeded my expectations and was quite reasonable. My free results surpassed the scant paid results available from ancestryDNA. Did I mention that I LOVE this app?! I only wish that I could access the results on my computer. I would like to print them out to share with my doctor. If not for that one issue, my rating would be 5 stars.
Not all the suggested data was correct for me but I answered the survey with yes or no for correctness. I do not have big earlobes as it said was scientifically verified lol. Otherwise, I feel the site gives good insight into many things like sleep length, reward seeking behaviors, etc. Most everything was accurate for me. Thank you!
one of the most interesting health and fitness apps that I've come across so far. it makes one aware of current and potential health vulnerabilities. it helps me stay healthy by accurately identifying areas of improvement towards a healthier lifetsyle. great results so far. I'd definitely recommend.
I am basing this off the free verson. Great idea & true that we all have different needs. But, The food search is a bit chaotic. There is a ton of the same product or no search results for others. I understand this is a growing database. I suggest cleaning up the duplicate copies & maybe partnering w/ a company w/ a wider database. Maybe they loan access as you build yours as users click their data. This is the only thing that makes me hesitant on purchasing premium membership & current rating.
It has a very long way to go. Knowing my health history it is probably only 50% accurate at best. Very few genes are being analyzed too, for example, omega-3 doesn't include the ability to convert ALA into the active forms like DHA, which skews results. I think upgrade will be worth when the science comes forth and reaches another milestone.
My App is starting and then goes to a white screen and doesn't progress. This is even after uninstalling and restarting and then installing again 2 times. It was working perfectly one second and then went all screwie the next. :( I'll update to 5 stars if it gets fixed. Otherwise non-functionality is one star.
With the gini app it's been so interesting learning about my health. Being on a weight loss journey being able to read what food, exercises and vitamins are best for me during this time have been so helpful. So very pleased with this app and excited to see what else I discover using it.
Gini is a wonderful, incredibly interesting and amazingly informative app! It packs a ton of information into a non intrusive small amount of space! I have learned more about myself than I ever knew was possible! Kudos to the developer of this amazing app! Thank you! HELP! The app keeps crashing. I can't get into it at all! Gini developers please help! I miss my Gini! 8/25/20
Great information. some is a bit too technical to understand if you're not knowledgeable on DNA/genes, etc. but it was still interesting and provided great information as far as health issues and best foods. so far it seems to be spot on with its recommendations.
Tried to contact them a few times on the app and they don't respond. Attempting to cancel a subscription before recharged. If you don't allow cancellation via the app, then please be more responsive.
The app is neat and easy, I connected data through 23andme. I like the way sections of the app seamlessly flow into each other (story-health-lens) and finally gives you a good indication on what tweaks you need on your Daily diet.
downlaoded, tried to connect to 23andme. App stalls while connecting but it did generate a raw data file to be sent to my email. not much help though because I cannot get any farther into the app than the connection stall.
* BE AWARE *Claims in the advertising, that it is free. Upon uploading my DNA, I was given a select view of some health report. I attempted to look at some traits, I was asked to pay a fee/mnthly charge. False/inadequate advertising. UPDATE: DOES NOT GIVE 30 REPORTS ONLY 12 REPORTS; THATS INCLUDING FOOD SEARCH WHICH IS LIMITED NOT COMPLETELY FREE. FALSE ADVERTISING. Again, my words are truth, contrary to the misleading statements of company. Proof is in the app, no need to lie. :) Read & Weep
My brother and sister-in-law downloaded and recommended this app to link your DNA information but the app froze on me. I've deleted and reinstall the app nothing happened, I've emailed the company and they still haven't got back to me. Sadly not for me.
i paid $30 for the premium access only today to find they they want a monthly fee for a different set of access. unbelievable.
I've cancelled my subscription several weeks ago and today you charge me once again! Very disappointed! But team contacted me in a few hours, made a refund and cancel my subscription. Thanks
I like to compare things. This means I did both 23&Me and Ancestry tests. That also means I set up 2 Gini accounts and ran a different DNA test through them. And the results are identical, and match well with how I feel about my body's abilities and problems. So thank you. :)
Honestly, it's very valuable information. I have been using this info to make myself much healthier. I refer to it frequently when grocery shopping, and to better understand my body's responses. Genuine thanks!
phenomenal app, very easy to use and extremely informative. This app has allowed me to better tailor my diet to suit my needs, I also feel more at ease knowing that I'm getting what my body needs and not putting in my body what it doesn't need.
I paid the premium for the nutrition advice, got plenty of advice that I decided to follow up, three days later the app is updated with a new category (alright for you) and many but many many pieces of advice had entirely shifted!!!?? 😂 How seriously can I take this?
I have been using this app for over a year now and I really do like it. Normally I only write a review after a negative experience (which I did...) and the developer was kind enough to personally respond to resolve the matter. Overall my last year using the app has been a good experience. The breakdown of the Macronutrients and Micronutrients needed is really helpful and interrupted to see and the app has so many features. I highly recommend this app!
