GLOBE Observer

This app is an amazing idea and a great help for me to map trees as part of college work buuuut it could definitely use some improvements. First of all the app is hard to use, the fact that you have to go through so many menus and screens to map a tree is disruptive, another huge problem i had is when taking picture, i have a samsung s9 so the pictures should look good enough but that isnt the case since the app camera doesnt focus or let me try to focus. I hope they fix it

Basic control and very easy to use. Only 2 issues I've had is that twice now the compass settings for taking cloud cover had been reversed (probably not a big issue on the whole). Also when software quits it remains in landscape mode.... No biggie but can be annoying. All in all I use it and it works well. Good luck with the data you get. 👍

I really want to participate, and it looks like fun to measure the height of trees, but every time I try it pops up with an error saying "Invalid angles Please step away from the tree to better measure the top and bottom". I am just trying to align the base! I have been standing 50 ft away, and it still says that.

Tried to make an account and after the account creation process failed and froze, my pw became "invalid." My email was also listed as "already in use." After attempting a pw reset, I was immediately barred from the account until an arbitrarily decided upon time. I will never use this app again. If I could give zero stars, I would. I've no words to describe my level of frustration. It seems you've indeed earned your dismal overall rating.

Good app. 1 minor problem. When taking photos, the compass is 90 - 180 degrees out. Sometimes 90 sometimes 180. It says South when I'm facing North. Photos taken in Southern Hemisphere. East coast Australia. This photo compass feature used to work. Phone GPS = ok Samsung phone compass app = ok I have to take photos manually. Would rather use app photo compass screen.

Needs LOTS more UI work. App installed with the name "Observer", so itwashard to find. Better would have been Globe Observer or NASA Globe Observer . Requirement to make multiple observations for each data point, rather than a 360 photo scan make it much less user friendly. Default pw is weak, too short-6 char, and hard to remember letter number mix. BAD UI. Four word or even 3 word diceware type pw would be stronger and easier to remember. And why does this need security? See xkcd Log in to account on computer has no way to change pw except 'forgot pw' routine. **** App stalls on sending photos-Bug fixed. Since I'm only using it for cloud observations, would be nice to be able to default to entering a new obs, instead of being offered trees and mosquitoes. NEXT on opening screen disappears and is replaced by "Go to Website" as I touch NEXT, gives me irrelevant website instead of APP.

Says updates are available, starts updating and is then stuck there forever. Haven't been able to open the app as yet. Using a Samsung S21 latest software and all updates done. Tried on wifi and cellular.

I live this app and have been using it frequently, however since the last update a few functions aren't working properly. The camera functions in the cloud observer stopped working and the compass is buggy. (android)

I really liked this app before and loved contributing but my app isn't working properly. The compass is not showing up when I wish to take a picture. *Edit* For a brief time I had the compass show up but currently it's back to the same problem.

Hi! The new update freezes at "Initializing" screen and update does not occur. Also, reinstalling does not change anything nor allows to login anymore. Please fix it.

This app was a great idea and it was really needed for better observations. the only drawback is that many countries are not in the list. I had to choose other country to be able to register.

This application is not easy to use, the UI is outdated and not easy to navigate through. If that could be fixed this would make an amazing app.

Everything works well. Easy to use interface and comprehensive explanations. I'm enjoying making contributions to science!

Excellent app. Love to contribute to the science. My only issue was finding the app in my launcher. It's listed under observer not Globe or NASA. It also has an icon. That is very generic and easy to pass by.

Go NASA, go! Best app ever! Except... Minor issue, it's not working. Android 7, endless update. I sacrifice 5 stars to make this app shine again.

Not able to use. Have reset password many times, and app still does not recognize password (I use a password manager too!) Also constantly says, ".. must be online to use..", when I am indeed online. Might be because I'm in Canada?

This app doesn't even open in my android. Always showing updates are available, updating...and stuck! Not even once i am able to navigate even to homepage

There was a 15mb update that I waited over 20 minutes to finish. It never did and I couldn't tell if it was making any progress so I uninstalled the app. The app sounds like a neat idea.

App freezes during send of my content to GLOBE. UI could be a little updated and consistent.

Absolute shambles, refused passwords as trivial even though using complex dual case letter/ number combinations. Then wouldn't log in with the link I was sent.

Didn't know i was located in the US; dumb. Couldn't send promised password, even now 30 minutes later. Also dumb. I wanted to participate but they don't seem to understand phone app users. I'm sure they're very sorry for my inconvenience.

App is just upadting,not even worked a single time in 2 days. Please make it compatible for One Plus Android user.

Sorry, not ok with the app. Crashes and hangs a lot. Unable to use the app properly.

Is a cool app.. But I can't access it because there is no MALAYSIA 🇲🇾 country in this app. Feels bad that NASA can't contribute all country to participate on this app even though it is free to use for all citizen of the earth.

Stuck on "update" and cannot navigate anywhere in app on Samsung Android phone.
