Made the mistake of buying ebooks from the publisher rather than Amazon so was forced to download and use this app. Doesn't turn pages easily and often find that the new page is blank, needing to go back and forth between pages until the text appears.
The books were cheaper here than on Kindle so I gave it a shot. The app takes significant amounts of times to load pages, not just when opening a book but when turning pages aswell. Sometimes the loading breaks completely and I have to reopen the book. Text highlights starts when touching the page at all and disrupts the reading experience. Navigating to the books is to much effort, it takes me three clicks to get to my book library. I would not recommend it but judge the value for yourself.
The reading experience is awful. Flipping the pages yields blanks sometimes. You have to flip back and then forward to get them to load.
Really loving the app so far, the way it's designed and the flow of things. I just don't understand why I can only seem to highlight sentences, but not phrases or words within sentences? Edit: I fall in love with the app more and more everday. It's really nice what the team is trying to accomplish. Would definitely recommend it anyday. Keep up the good work!
I much prefer using the Kindle app to read. You barely touch the page in this app and it highlights something and then I have to spend time trying to undo the highlight.
Of all the features to be missing, an ebook app doesn't even have a scroll setting? What's worse is the website, where the app is advertised, suggests that there is such a setting; but lo and behold, this version doesn't have it. Infuriating. I don't want to swipe page to page when I'm reading on such a small screen. Too many words and sentences get jarringly cut off, made worse by the fact that each new page can take ages to load.
The reader does not work with poor or nonexistent wifi. It is impossible to find the magic "button" to turn the page without accidentally highlighting something instead, or bringing down the menu. When trying to get rid of said menu, I frequently go back a page, or to the table of contents. It usually takes me a day or two to read a book. It has taken me over two weeks with the book I'm currently reading, and I am only at 30%! This app needs a redesign, stat.
This is the worst reading app I've ever used. It doesn't behave right. If I open up a menu (for notes, font size, etc.) I can't find a way out without tapping a back arrow. When I do that, it sends me back to the cover page at the beginning of the file. Combination books and books with a lot of graphic freeze the app. I have dozens of books on Glose - freebies from my employer - but I'm going to give up on this app. I've tried to like it, but it's terrible.
This app is terrible. It's completely unusable on my tablet, and support has been completely unresponsive three weeks after I contacted them. Also, you can only highlight whole sentences instead of as much or as little as you'd like. Sync across devices doesn't appear to work at all. The only reason I'm using it is the free book I got and will likely be ditching this after I finish.
I'm having the same issue that others are having. It just started this week for me. Turning to the next page is blank. Turning to the subsequent page and there is text. Swiping back to the previous page only to find it now has text. It doesn't happen with every page turn but frequently enough to make reading on the app very frustrating! Please fix!
Since the last time i wrote. I tried to overlooked but when you are paying for books. It is very frustrating trying to read on this platform. I have update so many times. I am reading a book and turn the page , there is a lag, then it skip pages I try to go back and it will not open , [ pages 10, 106, 146] of my book . I download my ebook from harlequins and not sure if I can down load them to another platform. I thinking this is set for school setting.
the application still needs some polishing. it has lot of functions but not all of them are working correctly. the reader shows empty pages, the translation does not save the last used language, and the worst thing is that their "black" background is not really black, making my oled display glow in the night and I can't do anything with it. there's no custom background color., or I didn't find where to set it.
This is a sub-standard reading app. The layout is not intuitive and pages are difficult to swipe. Pages will not scroll with a tap. There is no option for column layout in landscape mode so if you are reading on a tablet, you are faced with giant walls of text no matter how you turn the device. The books in my library have many formatting errors that were not present in previous downloads of the book on a different service. None of these problems exist with Nook, Kobo, Kindle, or Overdrive.
Just live the simplicity and the features of this so. From a long time I wanted an app through which I can read my uploaded epub files through any device and continue from where I left, this app just does that. I am in love with the statistics section. Update: There is no functionality to highlight multiple lines of text all at once, you have to highlight every line, linr by line which makes it such a mess. This feature is common in the web version as well. Please fix this issue.
CRASHY. Not intuitive. I've spent more time watching the little circle "thinking" icon spin than actually reading. I wasted ten minutes trying to figure out how to set bookmarks -- not comments or highlights, just bookmarks -- to no avail. If there's a way to set my entire library to default to private/"only me", I haven't yet found it. Overall? Unimpressed.
Doesn't work as it should. The app skips over pages so I'm unable to read everything. I minimized the text as small as I could and it still is not showing everything. The note taking and highlighting feature does not always work. I'm really disappointed and frustrated with this app. I'm reading a book that requires you to do stuff daily and I can't because of how bad this app is. I'm going to see if I can get a refund for the ebooks and purchase hardcopies because I can't read them correctly.
Poor reading layout on a chromebook or tablet in landscape mode. It really needs the option of seeing two pages side by side if you're not going to tire out your eyes. Comments about non-intuitive interface are 100% correct. Why (for example) does clicking the three-dot icon that most apps use for a menu grey-out the screen until you press ESC? Why use the now-standard "pop-out" icon for "share" instead of the one everyone knows? Why do pages sometimes have a blue background and sometimes not?
This is the first book I've read on my phone. I like the convenience but just one annoyance, sometimes when I swipe to the next page it isn't there, I have to keep tapping the screen to make it pop up. A similar problem with reading a paper book and two pages always stick together when one page is turned.
Not a big fan of the fact that you can't completely disable reading goals. Glad some people like that, but you shouldn't force it on everyone. Also surprised and very disappointed this has no dark mode for night reading. This will greatly impact how often I use this app, I'm sure. Edit: figured out how to disable reading goals, but only because I scrolled through various reviews. Not very intuitive... Update: app keeps turning my page automatically. Very frustrating...
Highly dissatisfied with this APP. The fact is that it is turning a great book into a horrible reading experience. The pages take forever to load. In some cases, the writings are repeated on more than one page. In other cases, information is missing. I really don't like this APP, will not recommend it and will not buy another book that requires this APP to read.
EDIT: Their audiobook player always jumps back to the start of the book, losing your place. The only reason I am using this app is because the Wall Street Journal provides its free ebooks through it. It constantly forgets the page I'm on, jumps back a random number of pages, and the social features (which you can turn off, thankfully) are so distracting as to make reading impossible. Also, their "reading encouragement" notifications are a bizarre mix of Mafia-style intimidation and begging.
Absolutely irritating. (1) Had to install twice before getting a version that was not scrambled. (2) Was not able to read the section of interest - only got the dreaded blue wheel and had to restart phone to get rid of it. (3) I have not found a "how to use" or troubleshooting guide. Very frustrated.
Only downloaded this app after purchasing an ebook that was not otherwise available direct from the publisher. This app just doesn't work. Pagination is all over the place with missing and repeated text as well as an issue where random pages don't load. It's not the ebook as exiting and relaunching will sometimes, bit not always address the issue. App doesn't consistently save reading progress and the design is very counterintuitive if you've previously used other eReaders
I hate that I have to use this app at all to read the books I bought and that I can't read them on an e-ink device. But if they're going to force people to use it, it should at least function properly. Every other page, and I'm not exaggerating, doesn't load. I have to swipe back and forth repeatedly to get it to work. It's also both too easy and too difficult to select text. It will select text if you touch the page at all, but when I want to look up a word it suddenly loses the ability. 👎👎
It does not allow you to highlight text of your choice. You select text and it does nothing. Double click, triple click and again it does nothing. Sometimes it selects text for you and offers to highlight it. Absolutely a failure as a reading app if you want to annotate.
Read it twice. Factual, truthful, on target for today and beyond. A great and encouraging read for God's people and instrumental to encourage repentance for those without Christ. And, yes, Jesus Christ is THE ONLY way! Ask, Seek, Knock!
All related to audiobooks. Resets audiobook if the car is turned off while playing. Stops randomly every 10 seconds to every minute, if I pause for any reason and start listening again. The only way to fix it is to exit the app and relaunch. Sometimes forgets it has downloaded a book and tries to do it again but can't because I don't give it access to data. Also, can't move MY audiobooks to another player because of proprietary formats. Very frustrating. Same problems on 2 different phones.
