Could be great, but its a half hearted effort. As a member I found the book too big & heavy to carry around, and having to update it was a farce. The concept of the app is great but ... Items often don't scan It regularly logs you out & it's a farce to log back in Needs internet access but as signal is rubbish in most shops it won't function Not all items are listed, some are listed twice, some listed with no details leading to much confusion Cannot search for everything in a certain store
Works but doesn't have lots of items in its listing, including products from Heinz, let alone many own brand products from Sainsbury's etc. There's also no way of manually entering the information to forward on to the app people to allow them to see which items they're missing, do their own checks and add the item to the list at a later date. I've given it 2 stars because it works ok, but not a higher score because of the limitations noted above.
Great app. Doesn't have everything on it but more and more stuff all the time. Not very useful for Aldi products!
the idea is great, in practice very poor. while they advertise a lot of products in data base in reality about 1 in 6 items come up on app when scanned. I'm sure in time when supermarket own brands are on there it will be good but until then it's just a work in progress.
I can't get the bar code scanner function to work. This worked perfectly on the previous version of this app called Coeliac UK and I used it regularly. Entering the bar codes manually is time consuming and prone to error.
App won't open since most recent update. Also items appear in the database when searched but don't always appear when scanned. This app was brought in to replace the old coeliac UK app and doesn't seem to contain anywhere near the quantity of products as the old app
Terrible. Doesn't recognise my login details. Not sure if I need to be a member. I followed the link from the website advertising their "free food checker app". It's not free or it's just terrible. Either way, one is a lie and the other is just terrible.
I've had this app for just under a week, paid £24 plus £6 gift aid and it's stopped working. It doesn't recognize my email or my password, I've have emailed them, so now waiting for a reply. But when it did work, it was a great help. Been 2 days so far 😔
Not worth the money. Easier to read the labels on food packets than muck about with this app
on the whole, only shows search results for free from items. I also ready know they are gluten free!! need the app to check 'regular' items like it used to. almost pointless now.
brilliant app, i wouldnt be without it especially when we had shortages during lockdown. Great for checking a product when it says "new recipe" too. Makes you feel safe at what you are buying.
I use this when checking for gf foods that could have cross contamination but not have gluten listed in ingredients (e.g. crisps, chocolate, sauces). Very useful app. Especially the barcode scanner.
Useless without subscription. I'd happily use an ad-supported app much like everything else in the store, and you'd probably make more money than the £1.25/m fee you're charging.
Not so great as it keeps crashing when searching for products or at times just when I open it, not very useful due to this, if it wasn't for that would have been great!
This used to be top stars as it was a life saver for someone who has special needs and can't read ingredients. But I can't change the profile name to his. So it is stuck on a female name so he won't use it. Very disappointed that it won't allow a new allergen profile. The coeliac uk website updated all the details correctly.
Does not open ! closes down when I try to log in. Worked perfectly before the last update, used it a lot, now it's useless, won't work at all.
This app uses to be great six months ago but sadly it looks like it's not being maintained now, as more often than not it can't find products at all. Real shame, as this can make Coeliac's lives a lot easier.
The barcode scanner just doesn't work... Fix that and get persistent login and this is a useful tool without it... It's not really great!
Didn't recognise 2 products from the free from range. Considering the importance of allergens its simply not reliable enough. £24 before you can access it as well!!
Signed up to pay £2 a month to use what I thought would be useful features but only managed to use it for one day - ever since then it just crashes immediately on opening. Very disappointed as a newly diagnosed coeliac trying to negotiate this minefield.
Really good as ive just found out after years ive not got IBS. Took off 1 star as the barcode scanner doesnt work. (Galaxy S6 software Version 7.0)
This is an excellent resource for members of Coeliac UK. It is very convenient to be able to scan before purchase. One's own dietary requirements can also be tailored within the app. Previous comments on "profiteering" fail to acknowledge that Coeliac UK is a charity, supporting valuable research and leading important campaigns.
Searching for stuff works fine but the bar ode scanner is blurry and as a result it never reads a barcode.
For someone who has just been diagnosed the barcode scanner to tell you if food items have gluten in is a god send. I've not had chance to try any restaurant selections yet due to Covid but fingers crossed.
Keeps you free from gluten, dairy, fish and other food allergies. The app is very simple to use with a barcode scanner. Highly recommend this app.
Can't get logged into app get an error "really sorry - server response error" uninstalled and reinstalled a few times now and doesn't make a difference 😔
I've only just started using this, only just got diagnosed but it's very helpful but I have one major problem with the scanner. I scanned exactly the same product as my friend(quorn mince) at the same time. But we both got different results. Mine saying you can't eat it and my friends saying we can. We need this sorted out otherwise there's going to be a lot of poorly people. Thankyou very much. X
