I need many apps from Linux since mostly I'm working using Ubuntu and find this Debian for armel has many similarities with environment I used to work. I have 2nd partition on my microSD from Link2SD and link the installation there so virtually I have no storage problem. Now I'm still working around for having real user ID because stil have no name here.
for anyone who uses phone just as universal device. Works well with X servers from market so I was even able to launch KDE4 (plasma+kwin+apps) no compiz though. Shame that doesn't use OGL acceleration nor audio device so I'm not able to launch Blender or MPlayer especially effectively but still awesome.
Totally blown away finding it so easy to start working with. Took little time just to identify right steps to follow as docs on these are still not in right places(perhaps some like to see docs before pressing install button) to make them easily visible and few of them were contradicting and scary saying interest from Debian going low for embedded Linux or how is this project doing today as I see last commit on last year (mid-2014). That sayed will make a note it was my 1st Android 4.4 device and the smoothness removed any fear :) I installed my needs of pkgs on top :) and even they flew in smoothly. As I see there are number of unknown issues based on platforms and Android versions changing currently (me too facing few like new window, ssh etc. on Android 4.4) I would like to get little more docs so clarity can be implied.
...but this rootfs is armel, which means that anything which uses floating point is achingly slow. As all modern Android devices support armhf, is there any chance of a version which uses that instead? Alternatively, a rootfs which just runs the Debian installer (and so lets us choose the architecture, and downloads the files on the fly) would be awesome too.
This, along with component software, has helped me make monster leaps forward in customizing and debugging..
Very impressed at how well this does what it advertises, 5 stars all day
I have no clue what to write in the black box I have tried what is typed I'm the picture but it won't work
Now I have both the apps now when I launch the GNURoot app it brings me to a terminal and I cannot find how to install Debian from that terminal. Thank you very much in advanced.
A fully functioning Debian cli, working well on my unrooted Samsung Galaxy Core and Asus Memo Pad HD7. The base installation is minimal, and some dependencies are missing (e.g. cpp for calendar), but as you have apt-get you can easily resolve missing dependencies and add any extra cli applications you need.
App is installed but does not run on Moto g4 plus (nougat).
Works fine, but the package mirror is severely lacking. Adding new mirrors without a proper keyboard is a big pain.
