my biggest issue is artists with the word "The" in the title get sorted alphabetically by T so I have artists like "The Beatles" or "The Angels" sorted wrong. my other issue is for some reason the Recently Added smart playlist is all over the place. the app has a lot of nice features and seems to run great there's just little things that are keeping me from switching to it completely
I purchased the full version and used to love it. I strongly recommend everyone to download an older version from the internet before the interface changes. I found that version 2.2.3 was the best for those who, like me, enjoy customizing every little detail of the player's interface. I wish they'd give us the option to update but keep the old looks if we chose to. Bury the option under five thousand menus, I don't care, but it needed to be there. It went from best to worst player.
Offers more than the cookie cutter clone apps. Few things 1)there is no highlight on what button in focus on the playing now player. There should be a focus style on the repeat, prev, play/pause, next and shuffle mode buttons. I'm planning on using it in a car setup using the OEM controller for navigation (dpad) the focus state is crucial. 2)the folder/songs list when in focus should jump to current playing/paused song. 3)Tasker next/prev should scroll folder view to keep current song in view
I reviewed this app in 2016 under the paid unlocked. I only used it for my phone and not my tablet where I used MediaMonkey. I just did a trial of various music player apps for Android looking for one that allowed me to queue music since this seems lacking in MediaMonkey. GoneMAD wasn't in the list of apps but it blew away all the others in capabilities. With a large library, it can do Genre/Artist/Album/Song navigation, album art, equalizer, and queued music. It's now my sole music app.
Why, oh why, would you remove the ability to ignore the "The" in the artist's name? If I'm looking for The High Kings, I don't want to have to scroll all the way down to the T's to do it. It's honestly a shame. I used to love this player, but the UI overhaul completely reset my library, wiped out all the settings I'd had in place before. No ignoring podcasts or organizing by most recently added, EVERYTHING is most recent. If I wanted a new player, I'd have looked for one. Guess I have to now.
This is a fantastic music player. Although I love my ipod mainly for the play list function and smart play list. Now I can do the same thing on my phone, on the go no laptop needed. With almost unlimited user interface options you can style the way it looks, sounds and plays. This is free for 2 weeks then pay about £3.50 for full version, total worth it. Well done guys. Thanks
Good music player with plenty of features and that actually respects the album artist tag. My only complaint is the three dot button to open up options in the browser. That little button is way too small, and right next to the scroll bar. I just hit the scroll bar and got brought to a distant part of my library a dozen times before it actually registered that I want to see the option menu so I can enqueue an album.
The app is very simple and customizable. My main cons are that the album artwork loaded from music files is very low quality, and that the queue system is not very intuitive. I would like to be able to queue up multiple songs to play after the current song, then return to the current playlist, like I can in Spotify. The closest alternative is the "play next" button, but that queues the songs in the opposite order, and doesn't turn shuffle back on after returning to the playlist songs.
I have been looking for a good music player for a long time after Poweramp started having issues with Oreo. This app was the end of a long journey. It features great design, can play opus files, has replay gain integration, can show lyrics and read folder images as covers. I did not find that combination of features combined with a good UI in any other app. Awesome and totally worth the money. My only issue is, that is instantly crashes as soon as I try to copy (or even highlight) any portion of text in the lyrics. This is quite annoying, but such a niche feature bug I will not subtract any stars for it. Still would love if it was fixed!
Nice music player, i love the shuffling between albums. Just what i been looking. I am really thinking to buy it. Just need to know how to change the language of the app. It's in spanish and i can't find the option to change it... Couldn't work out how to add the lyrics to the songs too, would gladly put ti 5 stars if someone could help me.
With the latest updates, I had trouble with the library scanning. I contacted the developer who was EXTREMELY responsive, on a Sunday no less. He helped me identify the problem (user error), and I am good now. This is the best music app out there, I have been a customer for several years, and it helps to know the developer is this helpful.
Update1: Classic app still better. Blur effect limited to just Now Playing screen. Why? Can't change theme background colors/ shades. Classic app had a unique UI. v3 looks like just another app. Not impressed. Original: Very nice app that can create it's own database rather than relying on Android media database. What this means is it gives you the option to organise and play your music is several different ways based on song metadata.
I've used GoneMAD for years and love it. I discovered it while looking for an MP3 app that allowed sorting AND grouping by Genre / Album Artist / Album (most players do not have this level sorting/grouping built in). The UI was highly customizable and the sound was great. Fast forward to the new version. The UI has been revamped (and improved), and it is still very customizable. The sound is still great and I still love the app. What has truly impressed me is how responsive the developer has been when bugs with the new version are reported. Emails are responded to immediately and the bugs I reported were quickly fixed. In short - highly recommended!
For now I have rolled back to an earlier version. I had on the top of my screens the tabs "Now Playing", "Queue" and "Folder" That's all I need for this player. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to place this back, and I don't want to spend hours to sort it out. The player is also stopping after finishing a folder. If I remember correctly it took me quite some time to find this setting in the old version. Luckily with rolling back, all my settings came back. I appreciate all the work to make a new version, don't get me wrong, but I just don't want to spend hours to get the player back to how I like it.
Pro: Play counts. Easy to enqueue music to add to now playing. Allows for half stars in the rating system. Plays wma pro at 48kHz. Can customize what info shows in the now playing screen. (Like I set mine to show the play count and bit rate) Super easy to backup and restore setting and play counts and ratings. Smart playlists. I have not tested the random mode, but I think you can shuffle the now playing queue. These are the features I care about, and no other player offers them all.
Well since it was updated, the app is much slower, and you can't scroll through the song list with the slider any more, just to the different alphabet listings, which isnt helpful when you have 5000 songs under the letter "B" alone. It takes a long time for the song names to load every time you go up and down the list, which didn't happen before. Pretty much all the features that caused me to choose this app are gone now. I guess it was worth the money at the time but I wouldn't buy it now.
I have tried a lot of android media players and this is definitely overall my favorite. I only have one complaint. I have year tags for all of my albums so when you go to an Artist view, their albums sort by year. For separate albums that have the same year, I use a - in the tag followed by whatever month it was released (1966-03, for example). Works perfectly on MusicBee on my PC, but GMMP doesnt read the dashes, so they end up just getting sorted alphabetically. Future update?
Overall it's a nice player with good features and personally i found in split mode the layout i wanted for my car unit. Two issues nevertheless. 1) In "Folders View" the songs drop down list does not perform a screen refresh to the the song that is playing at the moment as it does in "Queue View". You have to scroll down manually to go to the song. 2) If the car unit is turned off while GoneMAD Music Player is playing, when it is turned on back again, GoneMAD Music Player does not continue to play automatically. You have to enter the application again manually. I could live with these two issues if I'll by the application but it would be nice if they could be addressed.
I've tried this for 2 months. Compared to ver. 2 the widgets, setting it up, the custom metadata and the folder browsing are all terrible. Not to mention the other options that no longer exist in this "new & improved" version. This is 100% form before function. If all you care about are colors and round corners, then great, otherwise either install the "classic" version or just go get Poweramp. You'll be a lot happier.
