I am a heavy user of Google Assistant. My job involves lots of driving and I can not always grab my phone, so this is a very handy app for me. I make many calls using the assistant. However, the last week and have not been able to make calls. The app can perform any other task, but make phone calls. It keeps saying: Sorry, I can't make phone calls yet. I have tried everything I found on the internet: install and reinstall the app. Remove permissions and then back on. Disable and enable the app.
Was using AndroidAuto until it stopped working for phone. Now I have to use Assistant, they said. Where's the nice big clock and the blue screen? It does a fair job of answering and placing calls. I can legally text while driving if it's hands free. At first, the text was typed in a tiny screen. (!) Now it's not read at all. Just asks for my response. To what? Couldn't find a corrective setting. Now assistant comes on all the time. Annoying. I only need voice commands for driving.
Still the reminders section of Google assistant is a let down. I don't understand why it couldn't be an in phone app that isn't so relyant on the internet. If you want to edit or look at a reminder it is so slow to load up. And so hard to navigate through. Also a "when I leave" function would be a huge bonus. Like all the other assistant apps have had working for years.
Google assistant has stopped working. Tells me to upgrade to continue. No bitton to upgrade Pretty useful. But there are times the voice commands that I use go completely stupid- like 'text my wife', but it searches the web. Also the stupid news feed includes content that you have to subscribe in order to read it. The content is pretty narrow. Does same stuff over and over. Very disappointing.
This app plainly does not work. I have Android 12. I do NOT want my phone listening for "hey google" constantly. I want to turn assistant on only when I want to use it, and have it off the rest of the time. I do not want to navigate through 12 menus to get to the control. This app should turn the listening on when it is running, and off when it is not running. Instead, it just shows "Update the Google app to use your Assistant". That is NOT HELPFUL.
Have to uninstall update to get this to work again, and the update directs you to the Google app instead of assistant, making it even harder for regular users to troubleshoot. This is why you never build-in a force update and disable functionality, because while we wait for you to find out what's wrong, we lose access to a core part of the Android experience.
I was very happy using this for years and recently, it started asking me to unlock the phone first even for simple tasks like setting a timer or setting up a reminder... This only happened recently and I didn't even change any of the settings... I checked everything online and nothing works and I can't make it do anything now when the screen is locked... I hope this gets fixed...
Good when it works, which is not too often lately. "Hey Google" is worthless now. Hardly ever answers. No point in even having it on the phone. And retraining voice or any other suggestions do not work. App is not set to sleep either. Update: Found the solution!! Just restart your phone every time you want to use "hey goggle". That shouldn't be too inconvenient at all. 6 month old Samsung A52 with all current updates. 5/28/22 - app doesn't work at all as per other reviews. No stars for you.
Was working fine until recently but now when launched it simply comes up with an error message "Update the Google app to use your Assistant" with a cancel button and a Play Store launch button. My Google app is already up to date, so are all of my other apps along with my device firmware, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Assistant app, cleared the cache on the Google app and uninstalled and reinstalled the update along with rebooting each step of the sequence but to no avail.
Been experiencing a very irritating bug. It still opens when I say Hey Google or Okay Google but then when I say phrases like "Turn on flashlight" or "Open Alarm" it only gets the word "Turn" or "Open". I need to click the microphone button then again just to say the same phrases and it registers the whole phrase already. Please fix this. Thank you.
I have a Samsung AS21 phone. There have recently been updates to both Google and Google Assistant. Unfortunately, I am not able to use Google Assistant now as I get the message 'Update the Google App to use your Assistant. When I click on the Playstore button it just takes me to Google, which has already been updated. I've tried restarting my phone, but this hasn't sorted the issue.
Seems like assistant app just quit working a few days ago. It tells me to "update the Google app in the play store to use assistant". I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app but it still won't work. When I click on the mic icon in the search bar and say hello it does a web search.
It was a great experience but there was a problem with the reply, I bought an earphone two days ago and when I use it, it has a feature that can talk to Google assistant which is good since I like to hear song without opening YouTube music everytime I want to change the song, but a few days later Google assistant gives a notification for an update so I update it but then my earphone can't talk to Google assistant anymore. I use mic test and my earphone mic is ok, search Google still connect help
No longer works. Says "Update your Google app to use your assistant". Already at the latest version of BOTH apps! 🤬 Google doesn't test their apps properly, relying much on frequent Agile deliveries to patch their bugs while introducing new ones. My subscription services are just getting buggier everyday while trying to use them through Google Assistant, Google Nest, or Chromecast.
Unable to make calls with my headset. The hands free feature is so buggy. Sometimes it can make a call when the phone is in my bag and I say "hey google, call so and so" on my headset. However, this stopped working entirely for the past 6 months. I posted the problem on the community forum, and the answer I got didn't address the problem. It told me to do things that's already enabled and doesn't realize I mentioned it worked sometimes but majority of the time it didn't work.
I can't use hands free. I've been through all of the steps many times. It used to work. Now the icon4 the app isn't in my app selection. I have2 go2 the play store& when I do, it shows "open" but yet it's not on my app list& I'm unable to "hey Google" hands free. I'm unable2 uninstall &reinstall. Don't know how to fix! Oh, and when I go to train the voice part, the blue button turns on but it appears 2b off til I get to that page. It always worked. It works w/microphone not handsfree
5-29-22, after troubleshooting the issue with "Google assistant update" yesterday. Last night it worked, today however same issue, and the tips from yesterday don't work. Highly frustrated with this issue. After reading all the reviews, obviously many people are un-happy about this. Please fix this issue(s), and quit messing with something that was fine to start with. I hope this time, there is a resolution to this ongoing issue. Thank you
As a daily user of Google Assistant, it pains me to start having issues. I use it A LOT (daily). As of today, it says I must update my Google app in the Play store, BUT it's already updated. Very frustrating. Emailed every email available and hoping for a resolution asap. Uninstalled/Reinstalled didn't work at all.
WHY oh WHY is the sensitivity for hey google NONEXISTANT!? Your instructions for getting to it would be great if they were actually viable. I know it's in the programming because I saw it when I first turned it on. So why can't I change it? Let me find directions on all the google help pages... oh wait it tells you absolutely NOTHING! Useless information. It is activating from random noise interrupting my other apps. After 2 hours of trying to find this setting I'm done. How about you fix this?
Works fantastic on the phone (S21 5G), but it will NOT connect to my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic at all! I uninstalled and re-installed this Google Assistant App and the other Assistant App for Wear OS on the watch, nothing changed. I still kept getting an error saying "Could not set up Assistant on watch" or something like that. The Assistant is rendered and considered completely USELESS and I can't even use it on the watch because of this problem! Please fix this problem Google!
The most frustrating Google feature ever used. Sometimes I can say hey Google and it responds right away. Other times it never responds to me. I restart my phone and nothing. My volume is up. My permissions are all the same. My mic is working. It just works whenever it feels like working and it's infuriating!!
Makes calls while locked and lock screen settings disabled... Maybe it's just me, but I seriously can't figure out how to disable phone calls. I don't mind the assistant, but it should NOT be allowed to randomly make phone calls while locked. Especially considering that it called a number in a foreign country!
i had enabled all the " work with lock screen " options available in both assistant and Google settings, but every now and then with every update the app basically becomes useless. telling me that i have to unlock my phone to do anything, what is even the point of assistant if i have to have my phone in my hand and unlock it, Bixby doesn't need all that. uninstalled it and went back to Bixby, not having some functions is better than not functioning at all.
Not useful. Forgive me. I've never used the app. As a homeless, NewlyHired, person - sheltering in a vehicle for more than 12yrs, tech is limited. After 2017, I've explored options, before, & during, public assistance provided what I use, now. For some reason Android is least appealing for developers, like FireSide, to work with. I'm content to endure limits. Google Assistant may be useful in the future. My vision is failing, & Iay need a voice. Hopefully, I can work long enough to change things
The initial screen says I need to update Google. There is a link that says cancel and one to open the play store. When I click cancel, it closes the app and when I go to the play store, it indicates Google is updated. I've uninstalled and reinstalled both app several times.
Google Assistance barely ever understands the most basic commands. "Turn Off All lights." "Which All Lights do you mean?" "All" "I don't know All Lights" 💆♂️ Once voice commands are finally understood and executed, the app yells out loud at you describing what you can see just happened. The devices are displayed in painfully bright white background color while the whole phone is in dark mode. What a disaster.
When I try to open the Assistant app by touching the App Icon on my Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, it tells me to first update my Google App in Playstore. BOTH Apps are already the latest versions. Voice Activation works fine, but their is no way currently to manually open the Assistant app from the Icon. Yesterday when I held down the Icon, a settings option appeared, but since I unistalled and reinstalled both Google and Google Assistant today, this function has disappeared. Very frustrating!
I use a pixel5 and I don't have to download this application. But, a few days back the Google assistant downgraded itself. I don't see the transparent screen, the glowing LED anymore. It's like the older version with solid LED and black block screen!! I could not get it back to how it was. And the downgraded version is not capable of doing many things. So, one star!!
