Good, but needs to be better. It takes amazing photos. There's a terrible glitch when using zoom at 4x and the camera won't engage optical right away, and all of a sudden it jerks and it switches and you lose focus and center. Quite annoying. Also, where the heck are the "PRO" controls at for the 6 Pro? I mean, why do I even have to ask this, Google? I'm losing respect with what you call "PRO" and think you are playing Apple gimmick tricks.
When taking a video on my Pixel 6, the audio is sometimes very distorted, especially at music gigs. A good example of this was when I recorded 2 short videos (of the same song) at a gig. One ended up ok with decent sounding audio, the other was inaudible, very distorted bass etc... both recorded with the same camera settings. This shouldn't happen. Please get this fixed asap
Keeps locking up and then often forces me to reboot smartphone. Often opens with a black screen. I cancel out of the app and restart camera and it works. But the picture I just wanted to take has now changed and I've missed what I wanted. Will not always interface with other apps that require the camera or the bar code reader. Just a waste of time.
Portrait mode is garbage. no way to adjust auto corrections made to photos. By far the worst camera on any phone I've ever owned. I would pay you guys for the phone a second time if you could turn off that blasted auto brightness auto contrast. That happens every time you take a picture. It's awful. Pixel 3a was great. How did u ruin it??? Also, low light video is essentially worthless. My Pixel 3 and 4 are so beautiful in street light and I can't take any of those pictures with this thing.
Pixel 6. Tons of issues with buggy camera. Sometimes the simple act of opening the camera app will shut the phone down. Sometimes it fails to save photos that have been taken, and other times photos have partial image corruption. When it works, image quality is excellent. But it's about a 50/50 chance whether it works upon opening.
Usually takes great pictures, but focus is incredibly inconsistent. Sometimes it focuses just fine and other times it just can't, even in very easy shooting conditions. In low light focus is even worse, with it not working most of the time. Wish they had a focus lock and manual focus to help with the issues.
It was great on the Pixel 3A not so great on the 6. Whenever I record videos there's a loud clicking sound in the background which is heard only when I review the video. The camera freezes and goes blank at times and also just stops taking pictures by having the capture button go grey which is hard to see in daylight. Don't know why it has so many issues now.
I'm disappointed by you guys, camera app keeps crashing and when you take multiple shots the camera keeps processing the the taken shots in background and doesn't allow you to take more shots unless the previously taken images are processed fully. The app is not consistent at deleting the photos from within the camera app. When you delete the picture it keeps showing and sometimes it doesn't go to next photo, everytime I have to go back to main camera screen from gallery.
The "take picture" button is the fastest way to turn off my Pixel 6. The camera has been a source of repeated hard crashes and other performance issues that make it almost always unusable. It has been this way ever since I got the phone about half a year ago. Shame on Google for shipping a broken product with no recalls and no fixes for its biggest selling feature.
No, Material You really does NOT look good. Also the app automatically changes the point of focus with no way to prevent it. While zoomed in that causes 100% of the pictures I take to not include what I wanted in them. Catching a 100% fatal disease would be more beneficial to me than this camera app is now. Great work...
This app did not at all meet my expectation to take simple photos easily. - Default settings create moving pictures. They seem blurry, I don't want them. - Didn't find out how to disable it. It's not obvious in the app. - Various online explanations contradict each other and what I see on my phone. - Switched to 'portrait' mode, which takes the shot, but then applies a blur. => Extremely frustrating user experience for the most simple use case, which plenty other apps get right.
The camera WAS ok, now it is awful. The portrait mode no longer blurs any of the background. So, there was/is on occasion a post processing tool to blur, but it is not available in every photo. It's there sometimes and not other with no particular pattern whatsoever. Fix the bugs!!!! It's been long enough, the update is hot garbage
I bought the Google Pixel 6 Pro specifically for the camera! It randomly freezes and restarts when I take a picture or video. Today I went to take a video and instead of just the sound around me, there is a terrible static clicking noise in the audio. That's a new bug on top of the phone deciding to shut off when I take a picture. The camera has been a huge disappointment. If I could still return my phone and get a refund, I would.
Love the app and the Pixel camera. With them, I don't have to drag my big camera everywhere. I was so happy with my old Pixel 4a and decided to upgrade to the Pixel 6 Pro... The camera is still fantastic but some useful features just not working anymore. One of them is the "Long shot" (long-pressed shutter button to take a quick video). After many updates, it's still not working... 😔
If app's permissions are not immediately revoked after usage Gmail account starts receiving spam email. By not allowing any permissions, no access to links, disabling data use in background and not allowing to run over other apps then the spam emails stop. True of the Google android photo app as well. Google sharing info with unsavory beings, imagine that. Hope everyone realizes if you allow an app to run on top of other apps that Google/app developers can record every keystroke you make. Ugly.
I don't remember exactly when it started because it's been so long now, but after an update months back, this frequently crashes my phone when trying to take pics. It's random and I can't force it to happen, but it happens often enough to be a real annoyance. The app freezes and my phone (Pixel 3 XL) reboots.
Everything was going well and smooth until the recent camera update rolled out. After the update was completed features like top shot and feature for choosing different image resolution have been disabled. Camera app crashes and the whole system gets rebooted on it's own (this happened once). I think these are update bugs. Everything else is well and fine. Please get this fixed with the upcoming update ASAP. Please roll out a manual camera mode feature for Professional photography.
Honestly at this point it's really disappointing. Video Audio is horrible on Pixel 6 Pro. If you record a video in Snapchat, send it, and immediately switch to this, record a video, it comes out with awful static. Bass makes the audio clip in this app at 4K 60fps, but open camera does not clip as bad. Changed my rating to one star because the Audio static/clipping isn't fixed, and just ruined a 2 minute long video I took of a storm moving through. Fix this damn camera, it's a joke.
I wish there's an option when taking portrait photos to always save a non-blurred copy, or at least the option to do it later in bulk for multiple photos. ------------- App on Pixel 3 isn't smart enough to stop video before device runs out of space. Lost my 20-min-long video when the app just force-closed itself.
Blurry/fuzzy spot in photo quality . I have used a lot point shoot cameras and cellphone cameras. I've take alot pictures of animals and food and kids .... I see a alot blurred /fuzzy spots in the photos no matter time of day. In doors or out. There is a fuzzy blurry spot in every photo. I wish I can show it....please fix this in the app I'm guessing.
Great camera, until it wasn't! It just stopped working when I tried to turn the flashlight on. Got a message saying the camera was running. Called Google tech, tried every troubleshooting option...nothing! Camera just doesn't work anymore done 😞! I think it's a hardware issue.
Has a really werid audio issue for the Pixel 6. When video is at 60 FPS the audio is completely clipped and peaking when attending loud events. When you set the video to 30 FPS the audio is completely fine? Really annoying. Doesn't happen on any other camera app. Needs fixing asap. Video has been ruined for a recent event because of the audio.
Overall good and intuitive app. Excellent on the 3a but on my Pixel 6 the photos just look a bit off. I expected them to be better than the 3a, but they are worse. An important aspect is too much oversharpening. Which is weird because this sensor should be better. In Photos faces of people sometimes seem off. I can't tell exactly what it is but sometimes faces seem not like the faces of the actual People. Something is being done to them. Video is much better but a bit too bright on default
