Google Clips

The idea is fantastic the implementation not so much. Essentially there hasn't been any development in a long while and the project feels quite like it's an idea waiting to happen. Furthermore, it seems like support ios basically over, and the app is broken in the interactions with with other apps: for example getting images from GPhotos to recognize familiar faces no longer seem to work. Another dead product from Google.

Not Compatible With Android Q? The App is still able to connect with the camera, but is unable to load clips for viewing, efiting or saving. Crashes altogether every 3rd use...

Lose your phone? Trade it in for an upgrade? Factory reset it? If so, you lose access to your camera unless you factory reset it, which erases everything from it. C'mon Google, I get security is important but this is ridiculous. Remove some "simplicity" from the device so those people, like me, who have priceless video animations on the device of their newborn child can still access them if they wipe their phone or replace it. Tie it to a Google account, or a hardware identifier of the device to allow future access. Phone support basically says: "you should have downloaded the files from your Clips camera 1) before you lost your phone, 2) before you traded it in, 3) before you factory reset it." REAL HELPFUL. pulling out my clips device for a second go... i have owned it for a year now, i have used it mostly during the summer and it's been bitter/sweet i plan too update here how goes.

Doesn't work with Android Q and can't use it with my Pixelbook or other devices when cannot access from Pixel 2 XL. Update----- The new update resolved this issue.

Not working with Android Q. No live Preview. Unable to see captured photos. Paperweight until app/firmware updated.

overpriced sync problem doesnt download needs several attempts , may update rating if faster transfer by cable feature added and longer clips or continuous video recording option added , it can be used as security cam in that case

wasn't able to get photos because it always wants to update and reset itself :(

junk, as usual topical Google stupidity, replaced a working app (Google goggles) with junk. as expected Google is too big to care.

Not working for Galaxy S10E. I tried everything. And yes I read the instructions.

I don't think you need access to my location and GPS data to take a picture..

Another redundant app Google offers nothing more (sometimes less than compition's app.) Just , no. You're wearing out your base here....

So now the clip and the app will stop working next year, what costumers can do?

After latest update the camera once again works with Android Q beta 4

Where to begin? Half baked product with unreliable software and customer service that is much below the standards other google products received. Waste bin here I come.

I wish the camera was on par with the pixel. Feels like abandonware at this point too. Very disappointed.

UI and UX is meh at best. If you swipe to save a clip to your phone it's gone, you can't edit a single clip multiple time or take a photo from a clip and then also save it as a video. If you swipe to save a video it will remove the entire clip from the camera/app and you'll never see it again. This doesn't make any sense. Overall it has much work to do and could be much better.

Much ado about nothing. Even with discount i am not sure if it is a good buy. I might return it. What does device do that my mobile phone cant do ? Google . Please wake up. 200$ is not a small bit of cash

Now that you can create time lapse videos in Clips I noticed that it'll create several all from one session. Can we have a feature added to combine all the time lapse videos from one session into one longer video? This'll save time from having to save each individual time lapse video, find them on Google Photos, & turn them into a Google Photos "Movie"

Cons: Photos can be saved back to your phone or cloud only through a wireless link to you phone which means that on your iphone you have to keep your clips app in the foreground for hours. On android also it means that you have to keep the app running for hours inorder to move pics from clips to phone. why not let the USB C cable connect to a laptop on "Mass Storage" mode and download the files? Once downloaded extremely hard to show the to family on a large screen!!!! you cannot CAST your motion photos from google photos to any screen

Would be great if you can select taking a still or a silent film mode. If we end user can select frame from movie that would awesome. Having said all that it's a great product! Hopefully gen two gets a better sensor with waterproofing!

Lower light quality is garbage. Wish the camera overall was comparable to the pixel 2. App should use AI Assistant like Google photos to create stylized images and clips automatically for it to be useful.
