Google Goggles

like so many other Google products it was great I loved it used it all the time but all of the great features of it got trimmed away to where it just doesn't function for me anymore. I've been using goggles for years but it's just no longer dependable and so much less functional that it now is just more bloatware.

Way to go, Google. Lens can't even let us do better as Goggle was for Gallery pics and scan results. It was best, more flexible, easier and more accurate to use.

I needed to scan a qr code. I am admittedly stubborn and set in my ways and only use Goggles to scan codes or whatnot in lieu of a dedicated qr scanner or whatever. To my surprise and confusion, Google Goggles, one of the first apps I download to a new phone, is missing. So of course I go to the play store to download it, ignoring some ad about Lens, and download Goggles. Open it up to FINALLY scan this code and log into my Spotify on my TV, and it just tells me to download lens, so I say fine, am taken to ANOTHER Play Store page, with more ads, and download a second app to be able to (as I naively thought at the time) use Goggles. So I finally get to open Goggles, expecting to see the qr code in front of me and see a button that says 'open lens' instead. What the actual heck. One of my favorite old apps is now just a more complicated way of opening their new 'Lens' product. I used it for all of about 5 minutes, and finally just logged into Spotify with my Email address, on a console controller, which initially the most time consuming, pain in the neck ways of doing it would have taken a fraction of the time I spent getting pulled through ads and downloading your inferior product. Then I remembered why Goggles wasn't on my phone anymore, because I had needed it several months prior, and the same incident had occurred and I deleted Goggles. Long enough ago to have completely forgotten you were 'transitioning into a new product that'll be better and blah blah blah,more than enough time for people to realize Goggles is gone, Lens is your new thing, and either decided kept it and forget about Goggles, quit seeing it advertised on other app pages, and move on. Or we would have changed to one of several vastly superior products (guess getting dragged through all these pages with ads wasn't entirely terrible) and looked back upon Google Goggles with sad, yet fond memories. The Google I remember didn't (as forcefully) pull users through a bunch of pages filled with ads to a product (full of more ads) that isn't what they wanted in the first place. I know you were always an advertising company, but I thought you were doing a little better than having to leave a useless app on the play store just for the thousands of views and clicks it must recieve as one of the most popular productivity apps on the. This page had been up long long past its due, and no longer serves the purpose it was intended for.

This apps hangs easily with the phone Samsung Galaxy E7 of 2gb ram for old version. So, I deleted nearly 10 aps and used it. Still, it gets hanged sometimes. So, I uninstalled and installed it, still it get hanged sometimes.

I hate it now. What the hell happened to that extremely well working barcode scanner that allowed me to even scan images saved in my gallery, was it so hard to keep those features, what the hell did you do?

Used to be a very useful, handy app, that I used occasionally. Now completely useless, gutted and replaced by an ad for an app that doesn't work at all.

Might as well just delete the app. A page telling you to open Google Photos is not a good app, and is one that would be removed from Google Play if it didn't come from Google itself.

This was my favorite app. Really helped me with just a scan of a photo access items I could never find with just a Google search. Farewell Goggles. People never knew what they had with you in their hands

BRING BACK GOOGLE GOGGLES!! It was fine, and one of my favorite and most useful apps. I tried to get Google Lens, but it says it's "incompatible with my device". Incompatible? I'm on a ZTE Z956 running Marshmallow 6.0.1. It's old, but not *that* old. Come on, bring back Google Goggles!!!

Evil of Google to disable this app, 'replacing' it with Lens, only to insist that Lens is 'not compatible with your device'. Goggles was working reasonably well until they broke it.

0 stars for the underhanded poison-pill "update". 0 stars for an unusable "replacement" that won't run on my phone. 5 stars to me, I guess, for turning off app auto-updates :-)

hate this. Googles lens can't scan text when i snap Document nicely . BUT WHEN I snap not nice.... Can scan but The word mostly misspellings.

It now just is an advert for another app. Why not keep the old functionality? Now I was left without a QR reader in a place without internet connection.

Google Lens only allows you to search using what's in front of you. Google Goggles allowed you to load an image on your phone. Goggles was a great app, lens not so much... No reason to disable Goggles for an inferior app.

This is good but this app is not connecting to devise camera so that we need to choose a pick from Google pictures only we cannot take a pick by directly to search

it just took me to Google Photos. I just need a simple QR scanner. why did u take that away Google? sometimes simple best.

How many bad reviews does Google want for the same dismal app? Now the f***ing thing just keeps on asking for ratings, so have yet another one on me. No, really, you're welcome. What a total 💩💩💩💩💩💩 this experience is. So long and thanks for sending me over the edge.

Anyone getting tired of the google tendency to make something interesting and useful then abandon it intead of following through with improvements? Attention span google ....get some.

It was very good app. It helps me in my big business projects by converting image into text. Please google bring this app back.

I liked this app. Then you broke it instead of stopping support which I could understand. I will try Lens on this new phone if it is capable.

Found the pendant I searched the world for using googles goggles wished it was around when one could still travel this whirlled freely.

Google, Bring Goggles Back. I have used this app before and it was awesome. Yet Google decided to get rid of it. Nice job, Google.

It was a excellent app for identifying thing, getting information and not having to see things for purchase.

Often can't ID QR codes and common objects. Does scan saved pictures.

Hey Google, I'm using a Nokia 8.1 on Android 9 so why is Google Lens incompatible with my device? Love Goggles but if I can't use Lens, I'm not happy!
