Google My Maps

The app is completely unusable. I had to reinstall the app and none of the maps I have on my Google account are showing up. There have been consistent issues with the app not downloading map data when the maps are updated off the app and vice versa. Disappointed because I like the app and want to keep using it.

I like the idea of this app because it lets me bookmark tons of places and color code pins and customize the icons and generally does almost everything I want. The problem is that it hasn't been updated for over 2 years, and is a little flaky and crashy, even on the desktop version. It doesn't easily allow import or export to a CSV file, and generally feels like it's abandoned. It's a shame because I would love to use my maps to plan long road trips with more than 10 pins. I think this would be excellent app if it just allowed a little more trip planning functionality. As it is I have to plan multiple 10 stop trips. And that's just not practical for my use case of a year-long trip around the country.

I love this product. But over the past few years it doesn't feel like it has gotten a lot of Google love. Long load times. Not able to edit everything in the mobile app. Overlay on Google maps is missing colors (bug?). Hard to export, and slow to import. I would really like to use this app more. I gave it a 3/5 because it's not an excellent experience but it gets the job done.

The editing is somewhat better and more intuitive than using the Google Maps Chrome browser version. However there does not seem to be a way to change the icon or add pictures to the points you've added. It seems I always have to use both this app and Google Maps to add a new point. It's frustrating for other members of my group who would like to add or edit existing points.

The idea behind the app is good. However, it doesn't do any good if one cannot use these maps. I can go and plan any map I want, with any route I want, but there's no app that I can navigate through these routes… Please come up with something that will allow us to use the planned routes in the maps we created with either Google navigate or any other Google navigation app. Otherwise, it is just worthless…

I'm only eating the app 4 stars because its well made overall, but I'm genuinely confused at why this app is even needed. It's based on the maps app, but lacks the robustness of that app. You can't view photos or reviews of places, you can't get directions, you can't keep this offline. Although you can view My Maps in the regular Maps app, in that app you can't see the details of the places either when seeing the My Maps list. It's all just added confusion and uselessness.

This app cannot even connect to directions, strangely they thought it was more important to connect to uber then your own Google maps. This could be so useful, i was very positive when i downloaded the app but became very quickly disappointed. Half the reason people have maps is for directions. I really don't understand why this isn't a function, it was the whole reason i downloaded the app. I thought I'd be able to create maps then use these points in the future to get there again. Disappointed

As with many others, the lack of integration with Maps and the missing features such as directions along the route are enough to hurt this rating bad. It's good for making a route, something that Google Maps can't really do, but that's where it ends. After that, you have to either toggle back and forth, or just know how to get to your next place.

Poor product. 1) This appears to be a simple viewer, doing any editing at all just takes you to the Chrome browser. 2) Once there, when you search for an address, it highlights it but zooms out to half the planet. If you then use the + to zoom back in, you find yourself thousands of kms away. 3) There appears to be no way to find maps you've created when logged into Maps in Chrome on a computer.

I give you one star because this is a failure to make a 'useful' app. I made a map of important trip points and now that I'm on the road I can't use the points to get directions. I deleted directions from my saves map at home because they didn't have traffic notes. What I'd like is a simple way to get directions from a mapping app. One where I saved the points. Otherwise it's just pretty not functional.

The app is super limited compared to the website version. there is some real potential here as on the web version you can show step-by-step directions for your routes. this is the main function I use mymaps for so i have to keep using the website on my phone and it's very cluncky as it's not optimised for mobile properly. This simple addition would turn 3 stars into a 5 in my book as it's a very valuable part of planning a trip where time is a major factor and comparing routes is necessary.

This was an awesome app that I used for years to plot property visits for my job. Now that it not supported, the online version is absolute trash. Used to be able to click on a property and then click on the navigation icon and then Google maps would open up and start navigation. It was perfect. Whoever thought it was a good idea to end support for this app is dumb af and should be fired. I'd be willing to pay good money to support this app.

Great app for viewing maps created using the web version on PC. Recently it showed an alert saying they're shutting this one down, and to use the web version on PC. Using the web version on mobile is HORRIBLE and results in map objects being moved all over the place when simply trying to move the map - this is because the clunky clunky clunky web version has stupid gestures to move the map on mobile, and it only detects the gesture occasionally. Once Google takes this app down, I'm out.

This is so lacking in basic features it feels as if a beginner put this together. For example, why can't it give the distance of a route? To get this you need to choose "edit in Chrome" and then use the ruler tool to plot the ruler against each segment. Not anywhere close to the usual quality that we usually get from Google.

It's okay, the web version is a lot better. The only thing I really like over the web version is being able to delete points a lot faster. Whenever I try to edit a line it throws the first point to the equator near the Gulf of Guinea, I'd like to point out all the lines I have made are in the Metro Vancouver area so I think my frustration is justified.

One of my favorite travel apps. I use this extensively to plan trips, both for my family and others. It's truly an exceptional app and while a bit clunky, it use of customizable icons and layers is extremely useful. I always recommend it. Suggestions I would make are: being able to duplicate maps easier in the app, integration with Google Maps, and being able to copy layers and places to add to another map.

Moving the map rather than the cursor is frustrating. Took a while to figure out where to find the course I plotted in Google maps. When I did find it and tapped on directions to start my run the directions button doesn't work. This app is the only way I can see to plot a course on Google maps that doesn't involve Google deciding on the route I should take. The whole experience is poor and half baked.

I create a lot of maps, and the android experience is quite frustrating. It nearly always goes to some point that I've not specified as my default, and never remembers where I was when app switching. Also, GPS only works sometimes, and zoom level is rarely remembered. Often I end up on my laptop, but that's not possible when out and about

Okay to view your maps that you have made but very little you can edit. Much more functionality on the desktop version. Missing a few features such as adding points from coordinates and changing the colour of pins. I have to use the desktop version on a PC or Puffin browser for very basic tasks that could be added to the app. I really like my maps and have used it for years to mark out foraging spots around my village and metal detecting finds, but for me it's just missing a few features.

Tried the My Maps app since Google ruined the regular Google Maps app for me. First of all it wouldn't load one of my maps so I started to remake it. Unfortunately I quickly learned that like the newer versions of Google maps this app does not let you see your legend and map at the same time. That is why I left Google Maps so this also is useless to me. Also is missing the ability to change or add your own custom icons and it wouldn't let me rename the layer I was working on. A mess.😣

Needs work, very counter intuitive to use, drawing lines is a chew on and feels like trying to rub your tummy and pat your head. Should be able to just tap where you want the line point or better still click on a point on the map and the line is automatically drawn from your last point to the new one tracing the road rather than just a straight line.

The biggest drawback of this app is the developer hasn't considered syncing it with googlemap! Although we can view our edited map on googlemap, we can't see our saved places from googlemap! It's so strange. It should be a function without asking by users. Except from that, u can only draw straight lines by it and so sometimes not so smooth when u control the cursor. This is the only thing u can do to "draw ur map"!!!

I leave 1 star for the lack of functions of this app compared to... Google my maps itself!!! It's such a shame that the app doesn't let you do so many things (for example changing the colours of the markers) and that for everything it directs you to do the edits in google maps using your browser... when the idea of an app is precisely to have a more mobile friendly version of a tool or website than how it works when using the browser. I hope they can make this app as useful as the online version

MyMaps on chrome has 1000 more features than the app. The App only allows you to mark places and you can't add routes or photos which so frustrating. Particularly when you can add photos via chrome which is not mobile friendly and you don't usually travel with a computer while on the road. Hopefully future updates allow for more features to become available ASAP

Trash. The Website version actually works, whereas 90% of all the features have been scrapped for whatever reason. For those of you considering to install, just use the website. All I use the app for is a short-cut to the website. App (and Website) are confusing to use and the help section is extremely vague and seems incomplete.
