Somehow when i got the new android phone, this app doesn’t work as well. The AI doesn't remember the frequent words I use, so i have to type out the entire city name every single time!!!!! And it also seem to be a lot prone to mis-spell, just feel like the key board is off. Compare to the old Gboard, this is a huge difference in user experience.

I need to give a negative review. The app itself works just fine, it supports glide typing, both traditional and simplified characters and keeps adding frequently used words to your dictionary. The only and biggest problem is, that it keeps automatically deactivating everytime you switch between keyboards. It is really frustrating to have to open the settings everytime you want to write something, which ultimately made me uninstall the app.

The keyboard doesn't allow you to type the tones symbols (ā, á, ǎ, à) without having characters already typed, which is frustrating and upsetting. Some characters don't show up so you need to type which tone the word has, and even when that's not the case, I'd like to be able to just type including the tone of the word on a regular basis. Please fix this, it has definitely affected my user experience.

Overall this app is fine but the Chinese input of this app has a few things to improve of which are rather disappointing. The dictionary function doesn't allow any adding of new words which is redundant. Many names such as those in Traditional Chinese have a mixture of both simplified & traditional characters which is not possible at all if you input the pinyin of the name but get the wrong traditional version with no options to choose the simplified forms or add the correct words to the dictionary. I really hope there would be amother update soon to address many issues users are experiencing especially regarding the dictionary & etc.

Yes, there is no doubt that this is the best pinyin keyboard, but I still wish you guys can upgrade it soon, and bring the good feature from gboard! The reason I dont want to switch to Gboard is gboard seens not very friendly to Chinese, maybe it just hard to focus on each language typing experiment. Anyway, wish you guys can do better and better.

This app was great until the developers decided to kill the clipboard function. Gboard is not as good as swipe up/down doesn't give you capital letters/special characters anymore. The emoji and gif search buttons are also annoying and waste screen space.

this is one of the last keyboards that allows me to use the old T9 format from back when I had a flip phone. I always thought that was so much more convenient than having to look for each specific letter and I'm so glad to have it back. please never discontinue this app

Great keyboard! It's one of the very few keyboards that allow you to do a swipe input of both English and Chinese pinyin together. FEEDBACK TO GOOGLE: The only two improvements I'd like to see are the ability to specify a dark keyboard theme when the Android system is switched to a dark mode at night. The other suggestion would be to allow the option to switch the tab order of the language tabs.

I've been using this for four years and it's still great! I really love that I can switch between two languages when I chat with multiple friends from different races. I really don't understand those who left one star just because it eats up the storage space since I don't think the inputs are the ones to blame, and they could just go to the store and ask for professional help. Well anyways, the app is great and I actually prefer this than the usual gboard. Thank you for your services!

Simple to use, good enough. However, it would be perfect to me if I can set/change the often used symbols on the left sidebar. For example, I use "、"(A Chinese caesura sign) a lot and it's not on the sidebar. It's kinda annoying to click twice on the board to get one sing.

Orvall ok pinyin, but however i would like to raise two flaws that need to be addressed. 1. When connect to a logitech wireless keyboard one can not choose the word by number and has to tap the character with finger which is very annoying. 2. For large screen tablet such as galaxy s7+, better to have a split keyboard option ---- Is this app gone? I cannot find it anywhere in play store!

No emoji updates, and I can't find any emoji search. I can't seem to change its mind about sone very frequently typed words that it continuously tries to autocorrect away, either. Frustrating, because I like the keyboard better than the standard one, even just for English, but it is getting to the point where I keep having to switch away to the default keyboard for things like emoji and the words it won't stop attempting to change.

It's a really cool app, but it's really bloody annoying when I want to backspace but it just takes away the suggestion bar instead. No other keyboard does this so it's really jarring. I'd love an option to have the buttons for 中 and En separate from the suggestion bar. I mean, I already use the language key to switch between them anyway so having them even there is pretty useless for me honestly.

I am just about finished with Google and Android, as well. All they want is for you to upgrade your device constantly to get more internal memory storage space by using it all up with unwanted apps such as this. Then you give in and spend the money for a freaking 32GB phone, and guess what? Yep, 75% of internal storage is still used up with even more apps that can't be deleted. So you go and buy an SD card, but wait. Absolutely zero of your apps can be moved to SD cards now, so it is worthless.

So glad to have this app in addition to Gboard. It's helpful to be able to have multiple chinese keyboards with different settings (e.g., one for simplified, the other for traditional with an option to use handwriting.) Thanks for keeping this separate from Gboard!

Great app but it is really annoying when I type a chinese character and it doesnt let me to input it and just forces me to input another character. I cannot type what I want and that defeats the purpose of a keyboard. Imagine trying to type "boat" but your keyboard forcefully corrects you to "boot" even when you selected "boat" on the list of recommeneded words. There is literally no way to type the word I want and the most annoying thing is the character shows up but cannot be inputed.

Hi the app is not bad. But I would like to suggest adding 2 functions: 1. A shortcut to change from simplified to traditional Chinese. 2. A function to import commonly used words in local dialects such as Cantonese. Thanks! Keep up the good work!

Jun. Z. Mar 29, 2019

is fine , but it can be lot better , for example If is possible to make the input more intelligent by automatically recognized each app perfer input language , that way the user don't have to change the input language Everytime . They just need to use the language they prefer in each appreciation . also able to type more defcult word

Was an incredibly useful app for a Chinese American like me. However, do note that this app is depreciated and hasn't been updated since April 2018 (at the time of writing, it is September 2019). If you are looking for a pinyin input solution on Android, GBoard from Google should suit your needs. Just add Chinese input from its settings.

Lar. L. Sep 11, 2019

It seems the navbar color for this app was not set (or might have been set to white), and it makes the navbar white when and only when the keyboard is showing, while quite literally every other app was in the color I customized them into. And the Chinese word bank really nerds an upgrade. Missing a lot of professional terminologies and recent slang terms. Running One UI on Galaxy S9

Ste. Sep 9, 2019

User to work, but not anymore. Someone released an update so that now when you type in pinyin, it doesnt convert it to chinese, instead it thinks youre trying to spell an english word. There is no option to change this - it used to be automatic. Hopefully they‘ll fix it soon.

Ok, I am not sure is is really good or really bad. Yes, it has positive features, but something of this input is terrible. First, as the Chinese Input, the database is so poor that it is very hard to find the word I want. Second, it is always make wrong response like sometimes when I input 喜欢, it give me 喜好u. But it also has good features that China input app never have, like no ads and less RAM uses. So anyways, why Google doesn't try to learn good thing from China input app?

Cha. Aug 17, 2019

Best chinese input for overseas use. However, one bug with samsung devices is that the phone's navigation bar color does not change (stays white) when I select the dark theme. Please fix this! Great work apart from that, and I will change the rating once it's fixed.

Dan. D. Jul 29, 2020

I'm sure this is quite useful to someone. I do not speak the language. as a result I am being annoyed by constantly deleting, removing, disabling this application. Just to find it sneaking back in and demanding an update. I am starting to consider this bloatware.

Ken. M. Oct 20, 2021

Google Pinyin Input has recently been using 800+ MB of RAM which causes some delays when typing. Since this hasn't been updated in a year I may have to start using a different keyboard app. Update: still using it over a year later. RAM issue has been rare. Not having syncing with account means not able to save history, so always takes longer to write things I've written before but it has forgot. 2021: Still using this as my main keyboard.

A. G. u. Nov 29, 2018

This keyboard is almost good.. best I've found for Chinese (though an easier switch between traditional and simplified characters would be a plus). But! The English keyboard apparently still refuses to learn new words even after a year of complaints about this.. come on, seriously?

Alv. L. May 19, 2020

It was really good previously when users can switch to pin yin and english input all these years, up until the recent updates where this feature is removed entirely. Now even having hard time accessing to symbols while holding an alphabet on the keyboard. Kindly revert to previous input version!!!

Ann. Z. Jul 31, 2021

I love this keyboard more than thr onr from Gboard. However, this keyboard is getting outdated, can you please update it to bring some of the new features such as english words suggestion and new emoji list? Please make sure to keep the symbol placement the same! I am so used to this symbol placement, if it changed it would be difficult for me to adjust, especially some symbols like “~” was not shown in gboard!

Mar. G. Jan 16, 2020

I'd give you 5 stars but you are missing radicals. I need to type radicals, but so far there are only 75% there. Like zhú: bamboo is missing. You are the best one so far but definitely not complete. Plus someone mentioned a night mode. My Chinese lessons are done after midnight and a night mode would be very useful.

Suggestion to improve the app. Have and easy way to toggle between traditional and simplified characters rather than opening the app settings. We can already toggle between an English keyboard and the pinyin one, can add this extra toggle. Thanks.
