Google Podcasts: Discover free & trending podcasts

Unless there is a new blanket policy I am missing, I am frustrated there is no longer an option to keep downloaded episodes indefinitely. When I am traveling with poor connection speeds, I like relistening to podcasts, and more than once I've had to redownload all episodes. It also crashes on a semi-regular basis, sometimes not opening for an extended period of time. It is a solid player otherwise. And I wouldn't be so harsh if it wasn't an app created by Google...a company with resources.

I use Google Podcasts app daily. However, oftentimes, when I get a notice that a new episode is up, when I select the notification, I get an error message saying "Oops! Something went wrong!" And I cannot find the new episode for HOURS. Extremely annoying! And it keeps very old episodes on my suggestions lists, making scrolling through to find a more recent one time-consuming. I have to 'mark as played' to cut down the long list of choices. I have an android phone, any suggestions to improve this app are quite welcome!

So far I like this app. My main complaint is that it is not treated as others for out ease of use. I wish for instance we had a playlist feature instead of having to write down podcast titles on paper like this is the 80s. I know you have a queue function but that is different. Please make it to where I can save individual podcast into playlists. This alone makes me think about using a different service.

If they add widget functionality I will change this to 5 stars. The app does everything that I personally need it to do, except one thing. There's no capability to add a widget onto my home screen on Android. I want to be able to control the playback from my home screen rather than opening the app every time I want to rewind, fast forward, etc.

I really like the simplistic look of this app and the fact that it themes according to your wallpaper on Android 12. However, there are some features that it's lacking compared to other apps like Pocket Casts. There is no way to import / export your podcast subscriptions like on Pocket Casts, and there is no way to automatically set a podcast to skip a certain amount of time at the beginning / end. If they added these features, it could easily be my main podcast app.

Honestly, this app is VERY limited. All you can do basically is subscribe to podcasts, download episodes, and make a queue. No playlists, not even a like or dislike button or a favorites list. Also, when listening to a podcast (on a Google Pixel 5!) it doesn't even show up in the notifications when I swipe down or on the lock screen, like with all the other podcast or music apps! So when I want to skip a podcast or go back or even pause it, I have to open the app to do it.

Giving it a try one more time. Things I would like. 1. Ability to mark all episodes as completed. If I am subscribing to a podcast, there is no desire for it to show in my main feed. 2. If you can't allow a blanket completed episode, then give an option to remove it from my main feed. 3. How about live caption on the app rather system level??

Apparently, Google Apps heard my complaints, and fixed this app. It's very easy to use. No annoying pop up ads. Many options to customize. Clear and concise notification and navigation. I can trim the annoying 'pregnant pause.' I'm really enjoying Google Podcasts! Still runs in the background. Otherwise, I'd have given it 5 Stars.

It would be great if you could pick which episode of the podcast you want to hear, but google decides for you. No matter which episode I click, the app delivers the same audio (though it loves to say that the episode I clicked on is playing, when it is not). I tested this on different podcasts from different producers to the same effect: it is surely the app's fault.

This app is a PITA. Yeah it plays podcasts, but it plays them all the time. It will autoplay when I startyl my car and that's fine. But when I press PAUSE and it auto restarts playing 2 seconds later, that's not ok. It's not ok it does that repeatedly. It's not ok it doesn't stop playing when you kill the task. It's not ok that it starts playing the podcast even after I uninstalled it. What the hell? Two stars, uninstalled.

It's okay. It still does not sync properly across any device. I've used it on apple devices, android devices, and Nest speakers. Episodes are always, ALWAYS, left incomplete even after I've listened to the end. Only way to work around this is to use Bluetooth and only one device. But then Nest speaker's Bluetooth just decides it doesn't want to work. It seems like I have to always accommodate Google, and not thr other way around.

Recently, newly published episodes of podcasts sometimes take a day or three to appear in my feed. It's frustrating to see a new episode suddenly show up, but it's listed as being two days old. Also, I get notifications for new episodes of a few different podcasts, but when I tap the notification, there's an error message, the episode is gone, and it won't reappear for at least a few hours. On top of all that, batches of old played episodes randomly reappear in my feed.

It's a great podcast, I like that I can find most recent episodes for my subscriptions on the home page. I like the simple arrangement. Constructive feedback: 1. I wish there was an easy way to search individual episodes for a specific subscription. 2. I would love it to have widgets for Android 12 with a next button so I can make changes without having to unlock my phone.

It's mostly functional as a simple player except that syncing between the phone and Google Home is completely unreliable. I'll often end playback at home and try to resume on my phone, only to be in the wrong place or on the wrong episode. If I ask Assistant to resume my podcast on any device (including speakers), it's almost always forgotten everything that I've listened to in at least the last twenty-four hours, which means finding the right place in the right episode manually, and that defeats the Assistant integration and syncing that is the sole advantage of Google Podcasts. I just tried to resume a podcast that I listened to earlier today, and it started from where I stopped it yesterday, rather than where I stopped it today. There seems to be nothing that I can do to force the service to sync across all devices. It's become frustrating enough now that I'm actively looking for a replacement after being a big fan when it first came out.

This is a great app. I discovered a new world of Podcasts. However, when I am driving, I want this app to play nice with GoogleMaps. So they work together. So the Pause, play, next button should be easy. When I am driving, I don't want to be swipping and reading and getting distracted by Google Podcasts. It is intuitive, I was listening to one pod cast. Had to stop it. Then went back to it sometime, later and I could not find the same episode to finish it off. The app needs a bit of polishing off to make it more intuitive. Also,, it is hard to find out the country of origin for a pod cast. I wanted to learn more about taxes, except I wast n't sure if the podcast related to American taxes or taxes in my country.

I switched to this podcast app about a year ago from podcastaddict. I really like the fact that this app syncs across all of my devices. No matter which device I use, I can resume in the same spot on any other device - even google home devices. It has all of the things I expect, auto episode download, increased speed playback, and silence skip. It's hard to think of anything this app doesn't offer that any other app does. (Ok, I found something I kind of miss - granular download controls. )

It's fine when it works. WHEN IT WORKS. I will be randomly unsubscribed from one podcast, and then subscribed to another in It's place. When I try to find my old subscription, it does not show up in searches until maybe days later, when the podcast has been up the entire time. Meanwhile, the app will not allow me to unsubscribe from the podcast that it replaced the original with. I click unsubscribe and nothing happens. It has been this way off and on for years.

Google podcasts is a must for me because I use it to get informed on matters around my job. I really like the app and I would not change a thing for now. Just one recommendation, I would like to change the order of the podcasts that are played, from the oldest to the newest. Sure I can put them in the queue and have the order that I like, but an auto-play order option would be much more convenient.

For those wanting to stay within Google's ecosystem, great. However, regarding their ecosystem it would be nice if this was also incorporated into YouTube music. The fact that I don't have seamless easy access to it on other devices like my television is disappointing. Perhaps that is just an indictment on how much I like this app and wish it had more accessibility.

My absolute favorite Podcast app!! Unlike other Podcast apps I have tried; Google Podcast provides a HUGE free selection of all the latest and greatest topics I'm looking for! I have never had any problems with this app, if anything, it keeps getting better as far as content, ease of use, and dependability. I have recommended Google Podcast to all my family and friends. Why waste money and time on apps that don't deliver the quality and selection you want?
