I think this app has a great potential, but there too many missing features for it to be really useful. First, it does not recognize all emails and it is not possible to add informations from an email if missed by Google (or if deleted accidentally). It should be possible to tag places already visited, to annotate and give a mark (for next time). It would also be useful to have a browser version.

I used the app for the first trips, it worked well until it deleted my programmed trip one week before the trip date and also deleted other saved trips! Don't trust the app and have always a backup ! Also there is no link between the app and google maps, you have to download the visited city area in both apps to have the map offline. There is bugs in the link with Gmail, for the same email format it happen that reservation dosen't appear in the app!! Google must work in this project seriosly and define their roadmap!

I have an idea. Let's take functionality that was integrated into an email client on both desktop and mobile with time-context presentation and hide it on a mobile-only app that requires user interaction to open and many taps to see the information! That's a great idea! No, Google, it is not a great idea. Why do you think that every good piece of functionality needs to be its own app? Or three? Why do you think everyone uses mobile devices exclusively? It is functional, but several steps behind the Inbox trips bundle as far as being useful.

This app is incredibly frustrating!!! I find place to visit in the Things to Do section. I save it so it shows up in Saved Places. Also, it shows up as saved on Google Maps. Then, when I go to create a plan, in the Day Plans section, in the same Trips app, of course the place I want to visit (which I saved above) cannot be found, EVEN if I see it on the map, UNDER the search box. I have saved places prioritised, but it does not matter.

The concept of the app is great, and I think it would be very useful if it actually worked for me. The reservations and trips auto-generated for me were incorrect, but the app doesn't allow me to merge trips, edit trips, or change anything about a trip. Almost every action I try to take in this app results in an error. I'm using a Google Pixel 2 XL, so you'd think I'd have the least problems. I would also highly recommend Google use this app in conjunction with Maps to come up with better "Want to Go" filters. For example, split it up into "Want to Eat" and "Want to Visit" and you could then provide relevant information for each of those categories (like menus for restaurants, or busy times for tourist destinations) And lastly, the app is a golden opportunity to plan out multi-stop trips via mass transit - something that Google Maps can't do. When on vacation, I want to be able to plan my day and figure out all the different bus/metro/train routes that I'll need to use. Hoping Google really takes advantage of this app and makes it stellar! But I'll settle for them just fixing the issues where I can't edit trips.

I'm reading this app high because it shows exactly what it does... very well. Really disappointed to hear this app will be discontinued. This app really provides the necessary information needed to plan a trip including local protocols, transportation, emergency services, top local dining spots, etc. It will be difficult to find a replacement all in one app to replace it.

This app is way better than google mymap. Google Mymap is clunky and frustrating when trying to set up a trip on a phone. I had to go to a third party website just to figure out how to correctly creat a trip. I'm going with another "Road Tripper" program because its more intuitive and they didn't get rid of a good program just to try to push users to another inferior program. Don't get more wrong, Google Maps is great for navigation. But it doesnt do everything well. You lost a customer Google.

This app sometimes works. Many times it does not. For example, I have a trip planned to 2 cities. I have 3 flights, 2 hotel reservations, and a car rental. All of these had confirmation emails sent to my gmail account, so Google Trips should have included them. Of the 6 events, Google recognized 4 of them (3 flights and a hotel). It didn't recognize one hotel and the car rental. What is weird is that both hotel reservations were for AirBNB, made at the same time, but Google only included one of them in the Trips app. Manually adding a reservation is a pain, and you can't attach the email to that reservation in Trips. Trip It! is a better solution. You can forward any reservation to their email address and it will then be incorporated into the app. Why Google doesn't support the feature I have no idea.

I don't even bother with travel books anymore, this perfectly ties in reviews with transportation with routes, seriously, if you have data and this app you are set, I've used it to explore dozens of foreign cities and it has been a Godsend. Only knock on it is that it doesn't let you do collaborative trip planning so each member of your group has to go through it on their own and then you compare notes after. Small price to pay though for such a great app.

It has almost everything **except** 1. An ability to look up and add events to your things to do. You can only look up physical places, not events. 2. A function to just go ahead and add your own things to do such as meetings and reminders like "meet back up with group at noon" 3. An itinerary function that actually looks like a list or timeline that contains our reservations, our plans to go to the different landmarks at certain times and lets us add events to it on our own.

Whilst not perfect, this app did what I need it to fairly well - keep all your travel information in one place, easily reviewed, and accessible offline! The last thing you need while traveling is too have to hunt down critical information across a bunch of different apps, and internet access is often difficult, so Google's suggested replacements are woefully inadequate.

It's fine for what it is, but it only is a partial replacement for the Trips bundle in Inbox, which is being terminated March 2019. Unlike like the latter, you cannot manually add emails that the app doesn't recognize as belonging to the trip (e.g., VRBO reservations, correspondence with friends regarding plans, etc ). The app could be improved if it had this functionality. Until then, only 3 stars.

Good idea, but the execution leaves it pretty unusable. It managed to find my flight info for an upcoming trip but none of the emails for car rental or hotels. When I tried to manually add a reservation, I got an error. ?! This is pretty half baked. Some way to point it in the right direction when it is missing emails with pretty obvious reservation content (reservation in the subject and/or sender, dates and times, and names of major travel service providers. Seems like Google could do a much smarter job of recognizing and parsing those emails. Also, no desktop access is weak.

I'll rarely want to leave a review for an app. But the terrible experience with this app made me want to leave a review. Firstly, I've tried to search for some places to add to my day trip but am unable to find the place despite having it in my saved places from google maps. Secondly, there seems to be no way for me to order the sequence of my places to visit. I've tried the whole day and the app just forces the sequence of my day trip in a certain manner.

A single place to manage all your trips extracted by Google from your GMail. Unfortunately, after Google closed Inbox, there is no way to attach an email to your trip, so I can't just have a place with my insurance, tickets, bookings and other reservations. And this is really annoying, as I remember it working for me before. Other terrible point - Trips does not sync reservations with Calendar :(

Goodbye, Google Trips. Over the years, you've offered me a way to plan, see and remember the sites of so many countries, cities and places. The ability to save directly into Google maps has helped me pin over 700 "want to do" things and just as many "loved" places. You will be sorely missed. Nothing compares to the ease of use, compatibility with other apps and security. Thanks for making my trips the best they could be.

Ale. G. Sep 18, 2018

I agree with some other users: 1. The manual planning is very difficult. It should allow you to add things or change things around more easily. 2 why isn't there a "share trip" option already is beyond me. People usually travel in groups and travel companions should be able to contribute or simply keep an eye on the itinerary. 3. My last trip which happened at the end of July 2018 has simply disappeared from the "past trip" options???

Wow, until I tried to use this wonderful-sounding app, I never realized that I am apparently an idiot. My primary goal (based on the promise in the video) was to create offline walking directions while in Rome. Of course, the app tried to use Google Maps which doesn't offer... you guessed it... offline walking maps. I can find no other way to do what they claim it does. Oh well, since I can't rate myself as one-star, I'm rating this misleading app as poor. Deleted.

I like what the app is trying to accomplish, it just doesn't work at all right now. My hotel reservations don't get automatically added, and I can't link the reservation emails to a manually created reservation in the app. I can't add anything to the day plan section unless it shows up in their map search even though I have the venue saved in Google maps. What is the point of the app in it's current state?

Tod. F. Nov 20, 2018

The lack of ability to collaborate with my partner and plan our trip is so confusing. We can share everything from every other Google app except this one. Also, it doesn't register emails about Airbnb reservations. Manually adding the reservation wasn't easy. This app seems half-baked and desperately needed, as apps like this are not very prevalent. If Google put some effort into this (and read these reviews), this app would be critical to our travel plans. A centralized itinerary is still a dream, I guess.

This is (soon to be was) a great app. No idea why Google want to get rid of it. You had your whole trip (flights, hotels, places to eat and things to see & do) all in the one app which is easy to use. Now I'll have to find a replacement app because Google believes searching for all your trip information over several different apps is better that having it all in a singular one. Please keep this app Google.
