Gottman Card Decks

Good info and really happy with the ways it can be used to spur communication in a relationship, but the app has some issues. The UI font doesn't shrink/wrap/display properly for longer cards, the swipe to view is often sluggish or mis-reads the touch, and favorites doesn't make sense at all and are difficult to use. This is a great resource hampered by a half-done app design.

A great idea, but much of it is unusable because the text on the cards is cut off on the bottom. I believe it needs to be updated for the latest Android version. When I first started the app on my Android phone, the phone warned me that it was built for an older version of the operating system and that it might not work properly. I'm running Android 10 on a new Samsung Galaxy S10+

Really, a lovely app. I'm a cards kind of person. I find them helpful for distilling the things I know I ought to do into a small & handy little interface. I like that this app offers convo starters. It also has a deck w great little phrases that I've ended up memorizing, like ways to indicate you're listening or good questions to help you learn more. It's hard sometimes to remember the right thing to say. I find this app useful for that. I use in it all my relationships, depending on the deck.

I love this app for it's deep questions, and that it doesn't try to charge you for each subject like other apps do. I can't wait to use some of these prompts to help me communicate with my person, and maybe encourage him to use some as well, as he struggles sometimes to express himself or find the right words.

After watching a dozen videos, webinars and read a multitude of articles published by the Gotman Institute I decided to try to use the app in my daily life and practice. It's simple to use and clients love it. It's a reminder of all the small things that many forget. Build your love maps with a little bit of help of this app. I truly recommend it.

Really cute app for question ideas on any sorts of topic🥰. It's a lovely way to connect. Just wished that there was a way to swipe through the deck or mark which ones have been seen before/ randomize option. It can be a bit tedious scrolling through them to find ones you haven't seen yet!

If you've gone to a Gottman conference, this is a great app! It allows you to always have access to their great content without bringing the paper cards. I wish there was an option to shuffle the cards, on top of the current favoriting feature.

I wish the feeling cards were more easily accessible. There are too many to swipe thru. It would be nice if there was a list or checklist option to use that made the deck more accessible.

Love the decks, but can't see many of the cards in their entirety; the app cross them and I haven't found a way to select or otherwise change the view. Update: appeared to be a problem with my phone, but on the new phone the decks don't shuffle.

Awesome app containing relationship themed cards from the Gottman Institute research. Best of all, it's free. I have Drs. Gottman's book, and I was going to print some of the exercises so I could work through them with my husband. I looked on Amazon for a workbook, but didn't find anything, so I was pleasantly surprised to learn there is an app.

This is probably one of the best apps that I've installed since a long time. If you don't know what to do during an evening, try this app instead of watching the 1000th movie. This has led to do many meaningful conversations with my wife and really helped us to connect so far. I love the categories, I love that it's free! Cool stuff!

Fun, easy to use. My partner of 2.5 years and I will read a couple questions from the Love Maps deck while we're waiting for a movie to start. There are many questions and activities available in the various decks in the app. We've really enjoyed using it.

Great app, good for sparking communication and improving relationship. Wish there was an option to pick a random card from each deck, especially the spicy ones to make it a little more interesting.

Very handy app! The suggestions might seem obvious, but sometimes that's exactly what you need. A couple of the cards cut off so I can't read the full text, but that's a minor problem.

Great app. I wish it was a bit more user friendly. For example, pick up where you left off, when moving through questions, instead of going back to the start each time

Wow, this is an amazing resource. Sometimes its difficult initiative conversation between a couple that's been together for a few years... you feel like you know most everything about eachother. Come to find out- not even close! Can't wait to incorporate this into our relationship

LOVE these cards, and the work of John and Julie Gottman in general. These cards are giving my partner and I great ideas for new ways to connect, communicate, and explore things to do together.

This app is absolutely awesome. The cards are soothing, helpful, and practical. I enjoy flipping through and love that you can save favorites.

Beware; The "expressing needs" section is written in a demanding language camouflaging strategies as actual needs. This is not beneficial for connection and I'm surprised the gottmans have ok'd this section. It should be called "expressing wants"😩 Example; the deck suggest "I need you to tell me I look nice". The need in this case might be to feel appreciated. How about showing us how to invite our partner to meet that need, in stead of a demanding strategy of something we want? C'mon.

This seems like a really fantastic resource for folks with less experience around relating intentionally who are interested in developing intimacy. For folks who have more experience building intimate relationships with intention and who enjoy novelty, it may be less useful. Aka, some of the ideas for open-ended questions and rituals are fantastic, but an example of a "hot salsa" suggestion for spicing up your sex life is having oral sex outside of the bedroom. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This app is incredible, however it's not been updated for almost a year.... it might just be me but that isn't my idea of updating regularly. Very much looking forward to new features or content.

I really like the conversations these decks can open up, but the app was developed for an older version of Android, so I can't read all the questions in full. I hope this gets updated soon!

Add ability to leave notes for cards and hide cards you don't like. Otherwise - great app.

Amazing app for couples at any stage of their partnerships. Could you please add a deck of cards for self-care? I think that would really be a great feature. I've been reading quite a bit of material on the gottman website about self-care, self-esteem and self-soothing. And I realize how important this is to be a better partner. I would really like to see that deck of cards here as well.

Really great questions to get to know your partner! Great conversation starters, and you get amazing insights into who your partner is, but only if you put effort into remembering and using the information. THIS IS A GOOD LISTENING OPPORTUNITY, not just a "Coke or Pepsi" game.

I love these questions! They're great for helping an individual learn more about their partner, increase their listening skills, and share more of themself.

Was warned immediately that this app was made for an older version of Android. There is no update. Cannot read the very first card in it's entirety, likely the same for many others.

Love it! It's a lot of fun and discovery with my husband. Never rate anything but this is worth it, every love relationship needs this!

I love the card decks, but the questions are cut off on a lot of them - the whole question doesn't fit on the card. I can't figure out a way to read the whole questions when it happens. Pretty annoying.

This app was just what I was looking for! It's great for using on date nights with my wife. It's also great anytime we feel the need to reconnect, like at night after a hard day. I'm so grateful to have this! #solidgold
