GPSTest

GPS Test displays real-time information for satellites in view of your device. A vital open-source test tool for platform engineers, developers, and power users, GPS Test can also assist users in understanding why their GPS/GNSS is or isn't working.
Start/stop monitoring via the on/off switch. After a latitude and longitude has been acquired, you can share your location using the Share button.

Supports:
• GPS (USA Navstar)
• GLONASS (Russia)
• QZSS (Japan)
• BeiDou/COMPASS (China)
• Galileo (European Union)

GLONASS satellites are shown as squares on the Sky view, U.S. NAVSTAR satellites are shown as circles, Galileo and QZSS satellites are shown as triangles, and BeiDou satellites are shown as pentagons.

Menu options:
• Inject Time
- Injects Time assistance data for GPS into the platform, using information from a Network Time Protocol (NTP) server
• Inject XTRA Data
- Injects XTRA assistance data for GPS into the platform, using information from a XTRA server (see http://goo.gl/3RjWX for details on gpsOneXTRA)
• Clear Aiding Data
- Clears all assistance data used for GPS, including NTP and XTRA data (Note: if you select this option to fix broken GPS on your device, for GPS to work again you may need to ‘Inject Time’ and ‘Inject XTRA’ data)
• Settings
- Change map tile type, auto-start GPS on startup, minimum time and distance between GPS updates, keep screen on.

One of the few applications out there that LIST satellites including (some) information about them. A detailed information screen toggled by activating a satellite that lists even more information, like the satellite's time or height, might be a useful addition. Still, FOSS, ad free and with attention to detail, even supporting multi-frequency data, so definitely a recommendation.

GREAT!! Very good app!! Found the link on Github. Helped me finally figure out why I got no TTFF reported with several GPS apps I use. All worked on older phones/tablets but not on Android 7.0. TTFF first didn't show up in this one too till I turned off the "use GNSS APIs" in the provided settings options. Then TTFF showed up correctly when letting it use the legacy GPSStatus.Listener. Searching on internet didn't give me a hit on a bug in these APIs but as it seems there is? I've turned GNSS usage back on again, being more accurate as I understood. Anyway, thnx dev for this great app. Love the map future too BTW :)

It doesn't have many features, which is fine because all the features it does have are more or less first rate and the primary ones you would want. What I really like is that you can help build the GNSS spreadsheet for phone GPS capabilities. Thanks, barbeauDev. Best wishes, man.

This is an excellent app; detailed and thorough when looking at the capabilities of a device. I would love a way for the app to serve as an NMEA source; e.g. Serial over Bluetooth or Serial over USB to another device. I would pay for such a featue.

This is a great little App to check to make sure your GPS chip is working correctly. If you do not see yourself geolocated on the map with this app you have something wrong with your device.

Terrific test tool for inspecting the gps accuracy. Clean stable interface, and it shows the whether the “dual-frequency” GNSS feature is functioning. Additionally the "accuracy" test allows one to compare the device's gps reading with one's actual physical position on an arial photo. Plus it has no ads !

overall v.good. many issues on an aging galaxy s4 lollipop such as gps time is 20 years and 1 hour off (search: gps rollover bug 19th april 2019) and also niggly UI inconsistencies such as this same app on an s8 on android 9 has different column headers. still... gets a fix and injecting and resetting xtra data can be handy. map view is nice when you don't want the bloat of google maps. free and no ads. 5 stars on newer devices, 1 star on old ones

Very useful app. I was having GPS issues. This app helped me diagnose and fix my issue. I was planing to uninstall it after, but the satellite radar map is very useful. I think I will be using it on regular basis. And there is no ads!

Last few times I used this I have been having trouble viewing Chinese satellites and only showing us/russian ones, figured a hardware issue over the last 3 days... so tonight I ran another gps tool and all of a sudden your gps test finder lit up like a Christmas tree! Samsung S8 latest firmware, all I can tell you is the one time a Chinese flag came up "flags" colum read "A" while every russian/US said "AEU" if not for running the other app I'd have put money on a hardware issue

Does what it says on the tin. Not all carrier frequencies for the E5 bands are properly labelled, likely due to dev being in the US where Gallileo isn't operating yet, but just keep in mind anything much closer to 1600MHz than to 1100MHz is an E5/L5 or similar frequency band (so on the new, dual frequency GNSS bands) and you'll be set.

Does it calibrate the GPS? There isn't a option for it when others provide that. Awsome application. I'm very impressed with everything so far and considering it's free and without adds! Amazing!

Interesting app. I went out at night with a clear view of the sky and the positioning accuracy was very good. I presume that that is because the Galileo satellite data is being received and processed.

Great app. But keyboard in the accuracy section does not work when trying to enter minus signs or spaces. Pressing the minus sign does nothing nothing enters. Cannot enter a Western hemisphere longitude.

Five stars. It would be easier for users if some setting options can be given as toggle buttons on home screen such as compass rotation. A great utility.

Great app. Simple to use, does the job well, immediate gps fix with all the info, free, no adds or payed content, even has a datk theme.

Csa. G. Sep 20, 2019

would be a 5 for me if it showed the list of satelites grouped by types like GPS,Glonass,Beidou. other than that, one of the best for app so far I have seen! grat Update: by default the short is by constellation, that is sorting, not grouping

This cannot be anything but 5 star. Great satelite, freq, ss info, a lot of derails on the fix and no ads. Great thanks to the developer.

Very handy. Installed to see if my GPS works correctly on a custom ROM. The city map and sat radar are very nice touches. Would recommend!

First I had another "GPS Test" app (the one with the colorful icon), but that was just a toy. Now this looks interesting.

Mex. B. Dec 8, 2019

Best app for this purpose. However, 1 less star because its name is confusing when someone search for it the store shows other apps with similar name.. I suggest renaming the app to "GNSS Tester" it'll be unique which makes users find it faster and can recognize it easier.

Sno. V. Feb 20, 2020

Developer of the app is very good at what he is doing. And especially a person who is listening user's on what could be done better.

par. h. May 28, 2019

Lui. F. May 30, 2019

Excelent. In English and many other languages ! The language depends on the current phone language.

Excellent app. Is it possible to log the elevation and azimuth as well? this would be very useful. Thanks
